Abstract: The present invention relates to a clearer roller for the collection of waste fibre generated in the drafting system of the yarn spinning and combing machine to produce defect free, best quality yarn. The clearer roller is a flocked clearer roller for the collection of waste fibre generated in the drafting system of the yarn spinning.
FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to a clearer roller for the collection of waste fibre generated in the drafting system of the yarn spinning and combing machine to produce defect free, best quality yarn, more particularly a flocked clearer roller for the collection of waste fibre generated in the drafting system of the yarn spinning.
Background of Invention
The textile industry is required to supply textile products with various functions and characteristics to meet the diversified and highly advanced consumers needs. Various new process have been developed in the fields of spinning, weaving, finishing and sewing for meeting those requirements. The clearer mechanism is provided for the collection of waste fibre generated in the drafting system of the yarn spinning to give a waste fibre free yarn.
Waste fibers can wind around the rollers or cylinders of the drafting arrangement in an undesired manner during the operation of spinning. If this fibrous material clinging to the roller separates again from the roller and passes into the stubbing path, that is also called the track, the slubbing can receive undesired knots or thickened areas. This can result in intolerable defects in the yarn. It is known that the waste fibers can be removed from the drafting arrangement rollers by clearer rollers.
Swiss Patent Publication CH 402 690 describes a spinning machine drafting arrangement with a pivotably mounted upper roller carrier and weighting arm that receives adjustable holders for the upper rollers. Bracket-shaped cleaner-roller holders with guides inclined relative to the plane of the drafting field and for the shafts of the clearer rollers overlap the upper roller carrier and weighting arm. Clearer rollers for the upper rollers rest with their intrinsic weight on the associated upper rollers to be cleaned and remove fiber laps or the like from the upper rollers.
The cleaner rollers are placed between two upper roller carrier and weighting arms in adjacent guides of the cleaner roller holders and overlap two tracks. In the case of cleaner rollers mounted in this manner the upper rollers of the two outer tracks of a spinning machine cannot be loaded with a cleaner roller. Therefore, the first and the last spinning unit supplied by the two outer drafting arrangement tracks are frequently stopped in spinning machines. However, such a procedure has the significant disadvantage that production losses must be accepted.
European Patent Publication EP 0 344 944 describes a drafting arrangement in which the upper roller carrier and weighting arms comprise opposingly arranged cleaner rollers on each side, each of which overlaps only one track. The cleaner rollers have the form of a truncated cone. With this form of the cleaner roller the waste fibers separated out of the sliver should be gathered up and continuously transported to a removal station. The conical form produces a difference in the surface speed between cleaner roller and upper roller that is intended to produce a better cleaning action. The fibers gathered up by the cleaner roller are loaded up with a force component that moves the fibers to the smaller diameter of the cleaner roller.
US patent 4,819,302 disclosed a clearer mechanism for a draft roller, a clearer holder supporting a clearer member therein, and a suspensory member suspended from the draft roller and detachably supporting the clearer holder such that the clearer member is held against a working periphery of the draft roller. The mechanism further includes an actuating member or a restraining member projecting from either of the clearer holder and the suspensory member for displacing the actuating member or the restraining member to thereby reciprocally move the clearer holder along the working periphery of the draft roller.
US 5293667 describes a clearer device for removing accumulated debris on a draft roller has a clearer pad member mounted in a support frame which pivots so as to permit the clearer pad member to come into and out of contact with the draft roller thereby allowing accumulated wastes to escape. A stopper plate is biased against the draft roller by the clearer pad member thus keeping the clearer pad member in contact with the draft roller.
An elastic member protrudes from the support frame and contacts a rotating shaft which has a protrusion. The protrusion periodically engages the elastic member which pivots the support frame disengaging the clearer pad member from the draft roller and releasing accumulated wastes. CA 1073647 describes a cleaning device is disclosed for the scraper blades of a clearing roller in a spinning machine such as a card, the improvement consisting in that there is a cleaning element for each of such blades, the cleaning element resting on such blade, control means being also provided for impressing a reciprocation to said cleaning elements in sliding contact with the blades, suction means being provided in front of the roller and blade ends.
GB 2245604 describes a device for cleaning and opening textile fibre material after a feed device there is arranged a rotating spiked or needled roller, which is surrounded by a housing that has atleast one opening for removal of foreign material such as waste particles, bits of leaf, seed husks, pices of stem, sand and so on.
The main drawbacks of clearer roller which is available in the market, particularly, a wooden roller with a steel attachment member mounted at the centre with projected pins to enable to mount it on the spinning frame or comber. On the outer surface of the wooden roller a woolen cloth or rubber foam having rough surface is pasted.
With these rollers the collection of waste takes place only due to the pressure generated by weight of the clearer roller. The waste collection will be more when the outer surface of the woolen cloth is rough and clean. After sometime the amount of collection of waste come down drastically. So there is not a uniform collection of waste by the said clearer roller.
The life of woolen cloth pasted on this clearer rollers will varies from 5 to 10 months based on frequency of cleaning. After this period the outer cloth needs to be replaced. If it is not replaced at right time, the yarn quality will be affected and leads to quality problems in the yarn produced due to inconsistent waste collection.
In the spinning machine for every two spindle a clearer roller will be fixed. Due to the weight of the wooden clearer roller the power consumption of .the spinning machine has gone up by 1% which leads to more power consumption per unit of yarn produced.
Due to the overweight of the wooden clearer roller the handling become very difficult and it harms injury to the operator if it falls from the height of its running position (approx 1 meter).
It is difficult to clean and poor regainning capacity wherein the cleaning of this wooden clearer roller will be done on daily basis or according to the requirement.
But after sometime it can't be cleaned 100% and the outer cover will be left with some sediments of waste even after frequent cleaning which means that it losses the holding capacity of the collected waste.
More replacement and maintenance cost due to frequent replacement of outer cover cloth the cost of maintenance and man power consumed is more.
The said clearer roller affects the eco friendliness because it consumes lot of wood.
In the present environment this affect the 'eco friendliness' and we have to develop alternate system to avoid the consumption of wood and to save the environment.
Therefore it is an object of the present invention to provide a flocked clearer roller to overcome the above problems.
