PROVISIONAL The following specification describes the nature of this invention: -
A MEDICINAL/COSMETIC APPLICATION DEVICE WITH ROLL ON CAP AND
USE THEREOF
Field of the Invention The present invention in general relates to medicinal/cosmetic application devices and more particularly present invention relates to a container with roll on cap for allowing a person to apply medicinal/cosmetic preparation and thereafter massaging the concerned area with the same device without having additional discharging of medicament/cosmetic.
Background of the Invention Various medicaments and cosmetics for skin care use are available in the form of creams, gels, lotions and solutions. Generally creams and gels are packed in wide mouth bottles or tubes whereas lotions and solutions are presented in bottles, roll on containers or aerosol canisters. Except for roll on containers and aerosol canisters, all other modes of packing make it necessary for the patient to spread the dispensed medication/cosmetic on the skin with his or her palms. This may be unsafe some times as there is always a risk of transferring dirt and germs on the hand with the medicinal/cosmetic preparation if hands are not properly washed in advance and again after application, the residual medication/cosmetic could be ingested while eating any foodstuff with hands, if hands are not washed properly afterwards.
Aerosol canisters provide the facility of applying medicinal/cosmetic preparation without the application of hands but they cannot perform the massage, moreover only liquid medicinal/cosmetic preparation can be stored in them. The conventional roll on container on the other hand makes it convenient for the patient to spread the medication/cosmetic over the desired area. Conventional roll on containers typically comprise a linear container of glass or plastic with the roll on head. The container is linear and the roll-on holder usually lies in a horizontal plane when the container is in standing position, the roll on holder forms an angle of at most 20 degrees with the horizontal plane. In all cases though, the roll on holder is more or less centrally positioned with reference to the central vertical axis of the container, and the container has a linear central vertical axis. The roll on container enables application of the fluid from the container. However, any attempt to massage the area where the fluid has been applied, will result in continuous delivery of the fluid from the container. Since such an attempt to massage the desired area will result
in continuous dispensing of the medicinal/cosmetic preparation contents, the conventional roll on containers cannot be used for the massage of the desired area.
To overcome aforesaid problems various devices with complicated electro mechanical parts were designed to provide a container for applying medicinal/cosmetic preparation and massaging the concerned area with the same device simultaneously. One of such device is explained in US Patent No. 5,662,593 granted to Tillman, et al. However, this type of device is costly and complicate to handle. Therefore the main objective of the present invention is to provide an inexpensive and less complicated device for applying medicinal/cosmetic preparation and thereafter massaging the concerned area with the same device without discharging additional medicament/cosmetic.
Description of the Invention The present invention describes a device/container that enables the user to initially apply the medicated/cosmetic solution within the container through the roll on head on the desired area by suitably tilting the container. After adequate quantum of medicament/cosmetic has been applied, the container is tilted to another angle, to prevent further delivery of the medicated/cosmetic solution. This enables the use of the roll on head to massage the desired area without discharging additional medicament/cosmetic during massage.
To achieve the above said purpose, special device/container with roll on cap is designed, as illustrated in Figure 1, in accordance with the present invention, which comprises an upstanding body having an open mouth and a hollow interior, made up of suitable material such as glass or plastic, of any size, having a cross section of any suitable shape viz. circular, rectangular, star, irregular, triangular, pentagon, hexagon, rhombus, parallelogram or such other geometric/asymmetric or other shapes, and holder having a roll on head cap covering the said open mouth. The upper or neck portion of the said container bends away from the central vertical axis of the said container body in such manner, that when the container is resting in a vertical position, the said holder is positioned accentric to the central vertical axis and is not parallel to the horizontal plane. Instead the holder rests at a suitable angle with respect to the horizontal plane as shown in figures. The angle formed by the said holder with the horizontal plane can be between 20 degrees to 90 degrees.
Said container can be used for applying the medication/cosmetic over the desired area by tilting the container at a suitable angle to facilitate discharge of the medicament/cosmetic through the roll on head as shown in Figure 2. Thereafter the container can be tilted back so that its central axis comes back to a vertical or almost vertical position thereby stopping the flow of the medicament/cosmetic through the roll on head and the said roll on cap of the said container enables the patient to massage the desired area as shown in Figure 3.
Another inventive feature of the present invention is described with reference to Figure 4 wherein said container comprises an upstanding body having an open mouth and a hollow interior, made up of suitable material such as glass or plastic, of any size, having a cross section of any suitable shape viz. circular, rectangular, star, irregular, triangular, pentagon, hexagon, rhombus, parallelogram or such other geometric/asymmetric or other shapes, and holder having a roll on head cap covering the said open mouth. The upper or neck portion of the said container is aligned parallel to the central vertical axis of the said container body, wherein the said holder is centrally positioned to the central vertical axis and is characterized to rest at an angle between 25 degrees to 90 degrees with respect to the horizontal plane.
Another aspect of the present invention is described with reference to Figure 5, wherein said container comprises an upstanding body having a neck portion, an open mouth and a hollow interior, made up of suitable material such as glass or plastic, of any size, having a cross section of any suitable shape viz. circular, rectangular, star, irregular, triangular, pentagon, hexagon, rhombus, parallelogram or such other geometric/asymmetric or other shapes and holder having a roll on head cap covering the said open mouth. The said neck portion of the said container is aligned with one of the vertical surface of the said body forming a substantially lesser volume as compared to the volume of the container. Further, said neck portion has holder having a roll on head cap and can be parallel or non parallel to the vertical axis of the said body. The angle formed by the said holder with the horizontal plane can be between 0 degrees to 90 degrees.
The container described in the above embodiment can be used for applying the medication/cosmetic over the desired area by tilting the container to a substantially
horizontal axis to facilitate discharge of the medicament/cosmetic through the roll on head. Thereafter, the container can be flipped and held, thereby stopping the flow of the medicament/cosmetic through the roll on head and the said roll on cap of the said container enables the patient to massage the desired area.
The present invention also provides the use of said device for applying any liquid formulation/composition to a desired area. The invention also provides for the massage of the desired area with the Roll on head of the device, after the application of liquid formulation/composition, without discharging additional liquid from the device, during the massage.
Although the present invention has been described hereinabove with reference to the various aspects of the invention, the same should not be construed as limiting the invention and it would be apparent to a person skilled in the art that various modifications are possible within the scope of the present invention.
