FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to a system for anchoring and securing fuel filler cap for complying with prevention of fuel cap missing requirement of ECE R34/AIS 095/ other equivalent regulations.
PRIOR ART
Conventionally, the mounting of the tether of the fuel filler cap onto the vehicle body structure is carried out in the hole provided in the reinforcement/hinge of the fuel lid comp. A special shape is given to the reinforcement of fuel lid which is used for hanging the fuel filler cap through the tether when the cap is disengaged from the fuel filler neck during re-fueling operation.
In case there is no reinforcement provided in the fuel lid comp, the cap hangs freely with one end of the tether secured in the fuel lid reinforcement/hinge and the other end attached to the fuel filler cap. In this case, it imparts dent/scratch onto the side body of the vehicle, which in turn results into serious defects like rusting of the panel due to paint peel off 85 also causes appearance defects like dents 85 scratches on the side body outer surface.
To incorporate the above provisions, it is required to provide the reinforcement in the fuel lid comp. This increases the overall cost & weight of the vehicle and at times requires major re-layout of the fuel filler related parts.

OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
An object of the present invention is to provide a system for anchoring and securing fuel filler cap which overcomes disadvantages of the prior art.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a system for anchoring and securing fuel filler cap which is cost effective, light in weight and user friendly.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
According to this invention, there is provided a system for anchoring and securing fuel filler cap of a vehicle comprising of a tether with fuel filler cap with one end fixed onto the cap fuel filler and other free end to be fixed on the vehicle, and a lever of the fuel lid lock for arresting slippage tendency of the tether of the cap over the fuel lid lock.

The present invention discloses a system for anchoring and securing fuel filler cap as shown in fig. 1 wherein provision has been made for a tether mechanism in the fuel filler cap, with one end fixed onto the cap fuel filler and the other free end to be fixed on the vehicle structure.
The free end of the tether of the fuel filler cap is anchored in a hole provided in the hinge of the fuel lid or at any other location in the vehicle body structure, with the other end of the tether fixed to the fuel filler cap.
Upon disengagement of the fuel filler cap from the fuel filler neck, the fuel filler cap is hung over the fuel lid lock, with one end of the tether still anchored in the hinge hole/hole provided in the vehicle body structure.
The slipping tendency of the tether of the fuel filler cap over the fuel lid lock is arrested by the lever of the fuel lid lock. The tether rests against the lever of the fuel lid lock when the cap is hanging freely over the fuel lid lock, in position of disengagement from the fuel filler neck.
The later provision ensures that, the cap does not come in contact with the vehicle body & hence tendency of vehicle body damage due to dent/paint peel off/corrosion is arrested/prevented.
Salient features of the invention over prior art:-

This invention is advantageous for vehicles which have only fuel lid lock 85 no reinforcement in fuel lid. With this invention, the requirement of add-on reinforcement in the fuel lid comp to incorporate the provisions of requirement of missing cap provision of ECE R34/AIS 095/other equivalent regulations, as in conventional designs, is totally eliminated.
It is adaptable to different types of tethering mechanisms e.g. plastic tether, metal chain etc.
Since the present invention is simple and user friendly, this can be used with ease by the petrol pump operator during refueling of the vehicle.
It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications, adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within the scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under the following claims:-

WE CLAIM:
1. A system for anchoring and securing fuel filler cap of a vehicle comprising of a tether with fuel filler cap with one end fixed onto the cap fuel filler and other free end to be fixed on the vehicle, and a lever of the fuel lid lock for arresting slippage tendency of the tether of the cap over the fuel lid lock.
2. A system as claimed in claim 1, wherein free end of the tether of cap is anchored in a hole provided in the hinge of the lid or at any other location in the vehicle with the other end of the tether fixed to the cap.
3. A system for anchoring and securing fuel filler cap of a vehicle substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
