A FUEL FILLING UNIT OF A VEHICLE

HERO MOTOCORP LIMITED, an Indian Company at: The Grand Plaza, Plot No.2, Nelson Mandela Road, Vasant Kunj- Phase -II, New Delhi, India, 110 070

THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATION PARTICULARLY DESCRIBES THE INVENTION AND THE MANNER IN WHICH IT IS TO BE PERFORMED.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION:

[001] The present invention provides a fuel filling unit of a vehicle, particularly two wheeled vehicle.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:

[002] A vehicle comprises a fuel tank for storing fuel. A fuel gun is used to fill the fuel into the fuel tank. The fuel is filled into the fuel tank via a fuel filling unit located at the rear end of the fuel tank.

[003] The height of the fuel tank is least at the rear end and hence is susceptible to fuel spillage. Since, height is less, fuel filler gun can reach until the bottom surface of the fuel tank which in turns restrict the escape of air and causes more spillage. In case, the fuel filler gun is not inserted properly, this may furthermore increase spillage.

[004] While filling the fuel, the fuel filler gun may vehemently strike at the bottom surface of the fuel tank. Striking or repeated striking of the fuel filler gun at the bottom surface of the fuel tank affects the fuel tank and may damage it adversely.

[005] Conventionally to resolve this problem, a stopper like equipment is provided in the fuel filling unit to restrict the ingress of the fuel filler gun to a certain extent so that the fuel filler gun does not touch the bottom surface of the fuel tank. However, providing such stopper increases the complexity of adding an additional component into the fuel filling unit. Also, employing additional components increases the overall cost of the fuel tank. Therefore, it has been desired to that overcomes at least one of the above-mentioned disadvantages
