, Description:Complete Specification:

The following specification describes and ascertains the nature of this invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.
Field of the invention
[0001]This invention relates to the field of fuel injection pump.

Background of the invention
[0002] In the case of oil lubricated fuel injection pump, lubrication of parts of the fuel injection pump happens due to circulation of oil to various parts of the fuel injection pump. There is a chance of mixing of oil with fuel due to pressure difference – Fluid flow due to pressure difference and due to drag effect that is during the upward movement of plunger 104 the lubricating oil dragged and this oil mixes with fuel in the pressurizing chamber leading to diesel blackening.

[0003]Prior art patent application US2009008883A discloses a high-pressure fuel pump with seal system that is usable under the conditions of "high speed", "high pressure" and "fuel resistance". There is provided a high-pressure fuel pump comprising an axle capable of reciprocating motion in the pump and seal system for separating/sealing of fuel and lubricating oil as sealing objects in a circular space within a housing having the axle passing there through, wherein the seal system consists of a combination of fuel-side seal for sealing of fuel and lubricating-oil-side seal for sealing of lubricating oil. The fuel-side seal is composed of plastic-made seal ring and rubbery-elastomer-made O ring for backup of the seal ring. The lubricating-oil-side seal consists of a single body of single-lip-type oil seal wherein rubbery-elastomer-made seal lip fitted to metal ring is arranged so as to face the lubricating oil side. The spacing between the fuel-side seal and the lubricating-oil-side seal is set so as to be larger than the reciprocating motion distance of the axle.

Brief description of the accompanying drawing
[0004] Different modes of the invention are disclosed in detail in the description and illustrated in the accompanying drawing:

[0005] FIG. 1 illustrates fuel injection pump.

Detailed description of the embodiments
[0006] FIG. 1 illustrates fuel injection pump 100. The fuel injection pump 100, comprises at least a housing 102 a plunger 104 located within the housing 102 and a sealing ring 106 surrounding the plunger 104. The sealing ring 106 is adapted to accommodate an oil-absorbing material 108. The oil absorbing material is enclosed by a casing 110. The casing 110 may be provided with threads and is made of hardened material.

[0007]The working of the fuel injection pump 100 will be explained in further detail. The fuel injection pump 100 is an oil lubricated fuel injection pump 100. Fuel from the fuel tank (not shown) enters the fuel injection pump 100 through the inlet. The fuel injection pump 100 comprises a plunger 104, the reciprocating movement of the plunger 104 pressurizes the fuel. The components of the fuel injection pump 100 also need lubrication, in order to achieve the same oil from an oil sump flows along with the plunger 104 and is directed to the components of the fuel injection pump 100. The plunger 104 comprises sealing ring 106, as the oil comes into contact with the sealing ring 106, the oil absorbing material that is present in the sealing ring 106 absorbs the oil and prevents movement of oil towards the pressurizing chamber. The oil absorbing material may be activated charcoal. The oil absorbing material is located within the casing 110. The inner diameter of activated charcoal is smaller than the diameter of plunger sealing ring inner diameter. The casing 110 is provided with threads. During working oil is dragged towards plunger sealing ring during the compression stroke of the pump. Due to the oleo-phobic properties of the plunger sealing ring, oil particles are repelled, but certain molecules still move upwards. The oil molecules which escape the plunger sealing ring are absorbed by the activated charcoal ring and thus preventing entry of oil molecules into fuel.

[0008]With the use of activated charcoal the mixing of oil and fuel is avoided, thereby preventing diesel blackening.

[0009]It should be understood that embodiments explained in the description above are only illustrative and do not limit the scope of this invention in terms of the type of fuel injection pump. Many such embodiments and other modifications and changes in the embodiment explained in the description are envisaged. The scope of the invention is only limited by the scope of the claims.
