, Description:Complete specification: The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.
Field of the invention:
[0001] The invention relates to a fuel injector and particularly relates the injector body of the fuel injector.
Background of the Invention:
[0002] A person skilled in art would be aware that many version of fuel injectors are already known. However, some basic components in a fuel injector are always present. Following are some of the basic components of any fuel injector known in the state of the art viz the injector body components, the magnet group components, electrical connector components, nozzle module components and the like. With regard to this disclosure we will specifically focus on the injector body of a fuel injector.
[0003] Existing common rail diesel injectors have a separate valve piece along with the injector body. This valve piece mainly serve the purpose of guiding and holding the components like ball guide in place within the fuel injector. This valve piece is bulky and varies based on the type of injector determined by the type of engine and vehicle. Moreover, the existence of additional valve piece results in a complex and expensive assembly requirements for the fuel injector.
[0004] In addition to these, the currently existing scenario demand additional requirements like that of seal ring and support ring as well. Moreover, an additional bottom step is required for an armature bolt to accommodate the valve seat and ball guide. All these together make the currently existing assembly cumbersome and less efficient, especially when the probability of fuel leakage is increased in these assemblies. Additionally, requirement of processes required for valve area, frisbee machining and assembly of valve piece, seal-support ring pressing and the like put forth additional cost and effort.
[0005] Therefore, there exists a need for an alternate solution to unify the components of a fuel injector, as described in this disclosure.
Brief Description of Drawings:
[0006] An embodiment of the disclosure is described with reference to the following accompanying drawings,
[0007] Fig. 1 illustrates a portion of a fuel injector with an injector body according to an embodiment of the present invention.
Detailed description of the embodiments:
[0008] Fig 1 illustrates a portion of a fuel injector (10) with an injector body (110), according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[0009] The fuel injector (10) as disclosed in this specification comprises of armature group components located in the injector body (110), wherein the armature group components include at least an armature bolt (104), a valve guide (106) and a ball valve(108).
[0010] In this embodiment, the fuel injector (10) is characterized with a valve seat (114) for the ball valve (108). This valve seat (114) is integrated to the injector body (110). Additionally, the valve seat (114) also comprises of a passage (116), extending from the valve seat (114) towards the piston chamber (102).
[0011] In one embodiment of the invention, the fuel injector (10) has said passage (116) comprising two parts. The first part of the passage extends from the valve seat (114) to a second part. The second part further extends therefrom towards the piston chamber (102). In said embodiment, the first part and the second part have different diameters, wherein the second part has a diameter larger than the first part.
[0012] In one embodiment of the invention, the valve seat (114) design or features incorporated in the injector body (110) are characterized with A and Z hole erosion done an body. The valve seat (114) is further hardened by processes like induction hardening process in order to achieve desire hardness and microstructure, which in turn avoid deformation of said valve seat (114).
[0013] In one embodiment of the invention, additionally the piston chamber (102) is to be paired with injector body (110) during assembly process. This can directly aid in reduction of chances of internal leakage from the fuel injector (10) through this direct connection of high pressure to control valve provided in the injector body (110).
[0014] Moreover, in an embodiment of the invention, as shown in Fig 1, the design of armature bolt (104) is such that the armature bolt (104) is devoid of a bottom step, which would have been additionally used to aid in accommodating the valve seat and ball guide in prior arts as described in the background.
[0015] The invention as described herein about unification of the control valve to the injector body (110), additionally makes the existing designs be more robust and simplified. Moreover, there are other advantages like reduced cost in manufacturing and assembly of the fuel injector (10) itself. More importantly, the new design will highly aid in reduction of internal leakages in the fuel injector.
[0016] In addition to this, the new design as described in the disclosure also aids in elimination of a plurality of components like valve piece, seal ring, and support ring and so on. This also lead to an additional elimination of processes like valve area, Frisbee machining and assembly of valve piece, seal-support ring pressing and so on.
[0017] It should be understood that embodiments explained in the description above are only illustrative and do not limit the scope of this invention. Many such embodiments and other modifications and changes in the embodiment explained in the description are envisaged. The scope of the invention is only limited by the scope of the claims.
