Claims:1. A fuel injector (10), said fuel injector (10) comprising at least:
- an injector body (12), said injector body comprising a first end and (12a) and second
5 end (12b);
- a solenoid housing (14) fitted into said second end (12b) of said injector body (12);
- a solenoid component (16) located in said solenoid housing (14);
- a drain socket (18) fitted onto said solenoid component (16) in said operative
configuration of said injector;
10 - an armature bolt (20) located along the axis of said solenoid component (16); and
- a valve spring (22) located such that it circumferentially hold a portion of said
armature bolt (20) on one end and abuts a portion of said drain socket (18);
characterized in that:
- a shim (24) located such that at least one portion of said shim (24) extends into said
15 valve spring (22) and at least a portion of said shim (24) extends into said drain
socket (18)
2. The injector (10) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said shim (24) has a cylindrical
geometry and a slit (24a) provided along the length of the shim (24).

3. The injector (10) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said shim (24) comprising a shim
body (24b) and two shim extensions (24c, 24d).
4. The injector (10) as claimed in claim 3, wherein said two shim extensions (24c,
25 24d) extend from either side of the shim body (24b).
5. The injector (10) as claimed in claim 1 and 4, wherein said at least one portion of
said shim (24) extending into said valve spring (22) is said shim extension (24c).
6. The injector (10) as claimed in claim 1 and 4, wherein said at least one portion of
said shim (24) extending into said drain socket (18) is said shim extension (24d).
7. The injector (10) as claimed in claim 2 and 4, wherein said slit (24a) provided along
the length of said shim (24) such that the slit (24a) extends along the length of said two
shim extensions (24c, 24d). , Description:A fuel injector is disclosed. The fuel injector 10 comprising at least: an injector body 12,
the injector body 12 comprising a first end 12a and second end 12b; a solenoid housing 14
fitted into the second end 12b of the injector body 12; a solenoid component 5 16 located in
the solenoid housing 14; a drain socket 18 fitted onto the solenoid component 16 in the
operative configuration of the injector 10; and a valve spring 22 located such that it
circumferentially hold a portion of the armature bolt 20 on one end and abuts a portion of
the drain socket. The fuel injector 10 is characterized such that a shim 24 is located such
10 that at least one portion of the shim 24 extends into the valve spring 22 and at least a portion
of the shim 24 extends into the drain socket 18.
