A Fuel Injector For Regenerating Exhaust Gas Flowing To A Diesel Particulate Filter

Abstract: A fuel injection system 10 is described. The fuel injection system 10 comprises an engine 12, and an exhaust gas supply path 14 in flow communication with the engine 12. A diesel oxidation catalyst 18 is in flow communication with the exhaust gas 10 supply path 14. A diesel particulate filter 20 is in flow communication with the diesel oxidation catalyst 18. A pressure sensor 22 is in flow communication with the exhaust gas supply path 14 to measure a pressure of exhaust gas flowing there through. A fuel injector 24 is in flow communication with the exhaust gas supply path 14, the fuel injector 24 adapted to inject pressurized fuel into the exhaust gas supply path 14 to 15 facilitate increasing a temperature of exhaust gas flowing through the exhaust gas supply path 14 to the diesel oxidation catalyst 18.
