Abstract: A fuel tank, system and method to protect fuel injection equipment of an engine running on biodiesel is disclosed. The fuel tank (120) comprising a scavenger section (122) attached to the fuel tank (120), the scavenger section (122) filled with materials capable of absorbing oxygen from the fuel 5 tank (120) and a passage provisioned between the fuel tank (120) and the scavenger section (122) enabling flow of oxygen from the fuel tank (120) to the scavenger section (122).
Claims:1. A fuel tank (120) to protect fuel injection equipment of an engine running
on biodiesel, said fuel tank (120) comprising:
? a scavenger section (122) attached to said fuel 5 tank (120), said
scavenger section (122) filled with materials capable of absorbing
oxygen from said fuel tank (120) and
? a passage provisioned between said fuel tank (120) and said
scavenger section (122) enabling flow of oxygen from said fuel tank
10 (120) to said scavenger section (122).
2. The fuel tank (120) as claimed in claim 1, wherein a valve (124) in said
scavenger section (122) capable of opening and shutting the passage
between said fuel tank (120) and said scavenger section (122).
3. The fuel tank (120) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said valve (124) in
said scavenger section (122) capable of being operated by a controller
(110), to open the passage between said scavenger section (122) and
said fuel tank (120) when said engine is OFF.
4. The fuel tank (120) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said valve (124) in
said scavenger section (122) capable of being operated by said
controller (110), to shut the passage between said scavenger section
(122) and said fuel tank (120) when said engine is ON.
5. A system (100) to protect fuel injection equipment of an engine running on biodiesel, said system (100) comprising:
a fuel tank (120);
a scavenger section (122) filled with materials capable of absorbing
oxygen from said fuel tank (120) and
a passage between said fuel tank (120) and said scavenger section
(122) for flow of oxygen from said fuel tank (120) to said scavenger
section (122).
6. The system (100) as claimed in claim 5, wherein a valve (124) in said
scavenger section (122) capable of opening and shutting 5 the passage
between said fuel tank (120) and said scavenger section (122).
7. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said valve (124) in said
scavenger section (122) capable of being operated by a controller
(110), to open the passage between said scavenger section (122) and
10 said fuel tank (120) when said engine is OFF.
8. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said valve (124) in said
scavenger section (122) capable of being operated by said controller
(110), to shut the passage between said scavenger section (122) and
said fuel tank (120) when said engine is ON.
9. A method to protect fuel injection equipment of a vehicle running on
biodiesel, said vehicle comprising a fuel tank (120), a scavenger section
(122), a valve (124) and a controller (110),
said method comprising steps of:
? determining, by said controller (110), said vehicle OFF condition;
20 ? operating, by said controller (110), said valve (124) in said
scavenger section (122), to open the passage between said
scavenger section (122) and said fuel tank (120);
? absorbing, by said scavenger section (122), oxygen from said fuel
tank (120), wherein said scavenger section filled with materials
25 capable of absorbing oxygen.
10. The method (100) as claimed in claim 9, wherein said valve (124) in
said scavenger section (122) capable of being operated by said
controller (110), to shut the passage between said scavenger section
(122) and said fuel tank (120) when said engine is ON. , Description:A fuel tank, system and method to protect fuel injection equipment of an engine
running on biodiesel is disclosed. The fuel tank (120) comprising a scavenger
section (122) attached to the fuel tank (120), the scavenger section (122) filled
with materials capable of absorbing oxygen from the fuel 5 tank (120) and a
passage provisioned between the fuel tank (120) and the scavenger section
(122) enabling flow of oxygen from the fuel tank (120) to the scavenger section
(122).
