Abstract: A Gas cooktop consisting of an inbuilt childlock mechanism fixed inside of the knob panel wherein a child lock lever is provided on the sides of the knob panel to regulate knob movement. When the child lock is engaged, it stops the knob movement and by that LPG valve won’t operate accidently. This childlock mechanism is provided inside the knob panel and locking lever provided on the sides of the knob panel for locking and unlocking.
Claims:A Gas cooktop consisting of an inbuilt childlock mechanism fixed inside of the knob panel wherein a child lock lever is provided on the sides of the knob panel to regulate knob movement. , Description:DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
Field of the invention
The present invention relates to Gas cooktop. More particularly the invention relates to a Gas cooktop with a child lock mechanism which disables the accidental operation of knob, when child lock is engaged and thus preventing the leakage of LPG.
Background and the 'prior art'
The conventional gas cooktop do not have an inbuilt child lock mechanism. Any person or children can accidently operate the knob and that can lead in to LPG leakage which is a major safety threat. The present invention is a Gas cooktop with an inbuilt childlock mechanism with which the user can lock the action of knob and thus the accidental leakage of LPG. By this, the user can be very sure that when the childlock is engaged, gas leakage is being prevented as the knob won’t be able trigger the gas intake.
Objectives of the invention
The main objective of the invention is to arrest the accidental LPG leakage. With this mechanism, the user can engage the child lock which is placed in the knob panel and can ensure that the knob action is disabled. This acts as the prime safety feature with which gas leakage can be avoided by accidental operation of the valve.
Detailed Description of the Invention with drawings
The Inbuilt child lock mechanism is fixed inside of the knob panel. The locking lever is kept floating in between the knob panel and a sheet metal panel with help of screws. To actuate the lock, push the locking lever from right side and to unlock push lever from the left side of the knob panel.
Figure 1 shows the assembly of child lock mechanism. The knob (1) is fitted in the slot provided on the knob panel (3). The child lock lever (5) is been kept floating inside the knob panel (3) with the help of screw (6) which is clamped into sheet metal panel (4). To actuate the lock, push the locking lever from right side and to unlock push lever from the left side of the knob panel.
Figure 2 is showing, the action of knob to operate any gas cooktop. The knob (1) is pushed down and then turned left to open the gas valve. The valve (7) will not open if its knob wouldn’t have pushed down.
Figure 3 shows the action of lock when the child lock is engaged. The child lock lever (5) is been pushed from right side of knob panel. As the lever slides to the left, it will block the slot for knob rib (9), so that the knob can’t be pushed down and turn to open the gas valve, hence stopping the intake of gas.
Figure 4 shows the action of lock when the child lock is disengaged. The child lock lever (5) is been pushed from left side of knob panel. As the lever slides to the left, it will clear the slot for knob rib entry, so that the knob can be pushed down and turn to open the gas valve (7)
