Specification

Object of Invention
The present invention relates to a glucose based instant energy drink
fortified with three energy releasing b-complex vitamins and process for
preparing the same
The main object of present invention is to provide the consumer a glucose
based energy drink mix fortified with three energy releasing B-Complex
vitamins Bl, B2 & B3 at their 10-20% RDA levels and process for preparing
the same.
Another object of the present invention is to provide the consumer with
an instant energy drink in a powder form which contains energy releasing
vitamins Bl, B2 & B3 and less sugar (sucrose) than similar products in
flavoured glucose category currently available in the market to be able to give
more energy, faster.
Prior art
There is no glucose based product (glucose as a main ingredient) meant to
provide energy, available in the market, which has three B-complex vitamins
Bl, B2 & B3. Some of them have Vitamin C and Vitamin D, which have no
direct role in energy metabolism. Moreover, liberal amount of added sugar
(sucrose, equal or greater than 45%) in these products impedes release of quick
energy.
2
Disadvantages of Prior art
The so-called glucose-based beverage products are being sold to the
consumers on a platform of instant-energy. But there is a sizable number of
people in the world which suffers from deficiency of Vitamins Bl, B2 and B3,
which have a proven role in metabolism of carbohydrates to give energy to the
body. Without supplementing the glucose-based products with Vitamins Bl, B2
and B3, there will be a sizable population who will be deprived of getting
instant energy recharge when they need it the most.
Moreover, there are many glucose-based beverage products, particularly
flavoured ones which contain a very high amount of sugar (sucrose, equal or
greater than 45%). Sugar (sucrose), being a disaccharide, breaks down into
energy slower than glucose, thereby impeding release of quick energy.
Due to the above two reasons, currently available glucose based beverage
products deprive consumers of quick energy when they need it the most.
It has, therefore, been a long felt need to develop a glucose based energy
drink, which will have B-complex vitamins Bl, B2 & B3 and less sugar (less
than 45%) in it, to provide more energy, faster.
These and other objects of the present invention have been achieved by
the product and process of the present invention.
According to the present invention there is provided a glucose based
instant energy drink fortified with three energy releasing b-complex vitamins
containing energy releasing B-complex, containing energy releasing B-complex
vitamins Bl, B2 and B3 and less sugar (sucrose) than currently available
glucose based energy products (having equal or more than 45% sugar), the
product consists of:
(i) at least three essential B-Complex vitamins such as Vitamins Bl, B2 &
B3, which help release quick energy;
(ii) less sugar than other glucose (as a main ingredient) based flavoured
beverage products, making it more instant energy provider;
(iii) three essential B-Complex vitamins such as Vitamins Bl, B2 & B3 to
provide these vitamins @ 10-20% RDA levels to the consumers;
According to present invention there is further Process for preparing a
glucose based instant energy drink fortified with three energy releasing b-
complex vitamins glucose based energy drink mix as claimed in claim 1 and 2
which comprises:
(i) a vitamin concentrate mix in powder form containing concentrated levels
of Vitamins Bl, B2 and B3 has been formulated with maltodextrin as a
base;
(ii) all ingredients must have 20-60 mesh size. Ingredients like citric acid
anhydrous, trisodium citrate dihydrate, sodium chloride, potassium
chloride and sugar must be pulverized prior to manufacturing;
(iii) entire manufacturing process is done at three stages: (a) preparation
of Primary mix, (b) preparation of Secondary mix and (c) preparation of
Final mix;
(iv) dextrose monohydrate is sieved through 30 mesh and is dry
blended with vitamin concentrate premix in a mixer for 30 to 60 minutes
in a closed condition in a temperature (25±2°C) and RH (45±5%) under
controlled atmosphere to prepare primary mix;
(v) dextrose monohydrate (sieved), calcium phosphates (sieved), citric acid
anhydrous(sieved), trisodium citrate dehydrate (sieved), sodium chloride
(sieved), Potassium . chloride (sieved), Flavour
(Orange/Lemon/Melon/Apple), colour (for orange/melon/apple flavor
variants) and primary mix are dry blended for 40 to 70 minutes in a
blender in a closed condition to prepare a batch of secondary mix in a
temperature (25±2°C) and RH (45±5%) controlled atmosphere;
(vi) remaining dextrose monohydrate (sieved), sugar (sieved) and
secondary mix are dry blended for 30 to 60 minutes in a mixer in a
closed condition to prepare a batch of final mix in a temperature (25±2°C)
and RH (45±5%) controlled atmosphere;
We shall now describe the present invention in detail which are given by
way of illustration but do not restrict the scope of present invention.
Looking at the above disadvantages of Prior art, product formulations
namely glucose based energy drink (orange), glucose based energy drink
(lemon), glucose based energy drink (melon) and glucose based energy drink
(apple) (extendable to more flavoured variants), containing three energy
releasing B-Complex vitamins Bl, B2 & B3 have been developed. These B-
complex vitamins would help release maximum energy from this product
quickly, as these have proven role in energy metabolism/release from
carbohydrates like glucose {References: 1. Food & Nutrition Board, Institute of
Medicine (1998) Dietary reference intakes for thiamine, riboflavin, niacin,
vitamins B6, folate, vitamin B12, pantothenic acid, biotin and choline.

metabolise carbohydrates into energy in our body. This means absence or lack
of these vitamins will lead to incomplete or slower metabolism of the
carbohydrates. Hence, energy release from carbohydrates remains either
incomplete or slow. Presence of these B vitamins in any food products helps
release more energy, faster from carbohydrates. Further, our products so
developed have less added sugar (sucrose) than the products available in the
market in glucose (as a main ingredient) based flavoured drink category.
Products available in flavoured glucose category have much higher sugar
(sucrose, equal or greater than 45%) content, which is a disaccharide, making
the energy release from such products much slower.
These and other disadvantages of the known art are overcome by
providing a glucose based energy drink containing three B-Complex vitamins
Bl, B2 and B3 and less sugar content to provide 'more energy, faster' and
process for preparing the same, according to the teachings described herein
after.
(i) Glucose based energy drink mix in powder form containing Vitamin Bl
(0.00040-0.00091%), Vitamin B2 (0.00045-0.0011%), Vitamin B3
(0.005-0.012%) and less sugar (15-35%) to provide more energy, faster in
comparison with other glucose (as a main ingredient) based beverage
products available in market. Four product formulations namely glucose
based energy drink (orange), glucose based energy drink (lemon), glucose
based energy drink (melon) and glucose based energy drink (apple)
(extendable to more flavoured variants) have been developed.
(ii)A vitamin concentrate mix in powder form containing concentrated levels
of Vitamins Bl, B2 and B3 has been formulated with maltodextrin as a
base.
Further, according to present invention here is provided the details of
