Specification

[001]The present subject matter described herein, relates to a vehicle construction and more particularly, relates to a bracket for an exhaust pipe for preventing thermal deterioration of a rubber mount, and reducing propagation of vibrations to a vehicle body.
BACKGROUND AND PRIOR ART:
[002]Generally, in vehicles, a muffler is installed below a rear floor of the vehicle with a rubber mount interposed therebetween. The rubber mount reduces vibrations and shaking of the muffler and suppresses transmission of the vibrations to the vehicle body. Further, the rubber mount being proximal to the muffler, is prone to deterioration caused by heat generated by the muffler. However, it is necessary to prevent thermal deterioration of the rubber mount.
[003] Japanese Patent publication JP4930354B2 relates to prevention of thermal deterioration of mount rubber for a hanger hanging a silencer below a rear part of a vehicle body in a cross arrangement, and provides a solution wherein, the silencer 2 is crossly arranged at a rear part of a suspension cross member 1 at a rear part of a vehicle body, and an upstream exhaust pipe 1 extending across the suspension cross member 1 is connected with a position near a rear side on one end in a vehicle width direction, and a downstream pipe 12 is connected with a position near a front side. Then, in order to restrain thermal deterioration due to radiant heat from the upstream exhaust pipe 11 of a hanger 3 hanging the silencer 2 toward the vehicle body on one end, a heat insulation board 20 is fixed to an upper edge of an end wall 7 of the silencer 2 to cover a vicinity of a connection part of the upstream exhaust pipe 11 from above, and a silencer side bracket 31 for a hanger is fixed on a top face of the heat insulation board 20.
[004] However, the assembly, shape, operation and location of the parts mentioned in the prior art are not similar to the present disclosure.

OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION:
[005] The principal objective of the present invention is to provide a heat shield bracket configured with a muffler of a vehicle to reduce propagation of vibrations to the vehicle body, and to prevent thermal deterioration of the rubber mount.
[006] Another object of the present subject matter is to provide a simple, cost effective, and efficiently designed heat shield bracket that is distinct from all conventional designs.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
[007] The present invention relates to a heat shield bracket configured with a muffler of a vehicle. The heat shield bracket includes a horizontal member defining a rectilinear profile, the horizontal member being configured to be disposed on the muffler; and a vertical member extending from the horizontal member to define a joint linear edge, the vertical member defining a partial rectilinear profile through a plurality of vertical edges extending from the joint linear edge, and a partial trapezoidal profile through a plurality of tapered edges extending from the plurality of vertical edges, wherein a shorter top edge of the trapezoidal profile includes a plurality of short edges separated by an arcuate profile.

[0017] Fig. 1 illustrates a support structure associated with a muffler (102) of a vehicle (not shown). Fig. 1 further provides a heat shield bracket (100) configured with the muffler (102) of the vehicle in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. In an example, the heat shield bracket (100) is further configured with a hanger (120) and a muffler mount (122) associated with the muffler (102).
[0018] Figs. 2a-2b illustrates perspective views of the heat shield bracket (100) in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. In an embodiment referring to Figs. 1, 2a-2b collectively, the heat shield bracket (100) includes a

horizontal member (104) defining a rectilinear profile. As shown in Fig. 1, the horizontal member (104) is configured to be disposed on the muffler (102). The heat shield bracket (100) further includes a vertical member (106) extending from the horizontal member (104) to define a joint linear edge (105). In an example, the horizontal member (104) and the vertical member (106) defines an "L shape" of the heat shield bracket (100).
[0019] Further, the vertical member (106) defines a partial rectilinear profile through a plurality of vertical edges (108) extending from the joint linear edge (105), and a partial trapezoidal profile through a plurality of tapered edges (110) extending from the plurality of vertical edges (108). In an example, as shown in Figs. 2a-2b, a shorter top edge (112) of the trapezoidal profile includes a plurality of short edges (114) separated by an arcuate profile (116). In an example, the partial trapezoidal profile, i.e. the plurality of tapered edges (110), and the plurality of short edges (114) separated by the arcuate profile (116) reduces propagation of noise and vibrations to the vehicle body.
[0020] In an embodiment, the horizontal member (104) and the vertical member (106) of the heat shield bracket (100) includes a plurality of beads (118) orthogonal to the joint linear edge (105). In an example, the plurality of beads (118) are hollow, and wherein a thickness of the plurality of beads (118) reduces from the vertical member (106) towards the horizontal member (104). In operation, the plurality of beads (118) increases stiffness and rigidity of the heat shield bracket (100), and also reduces propagation of noise and vibrations to the vehicle body.
[0021] Figs. 3a-3b shows perspective views showing orientation of the heat shield bracket (100) with the hanger (120) and the muffler mount (122), wherein the heat shield bracket (100), being secured to the hanger (120), is positioned near or proximal to the muffler mount (122) associated with the hanger (120). In an example, the muffler mount (122) is made of a rubber like material. In an embodiment, the arcuate profile (116) of the heat shield bracket (100) is configured to be secured to the hanger (120) associated with the muffler (102),

wherein an arc associated with the arcuate profile (116) is corresponding to an external shape of the hanger (120). In an example, the heat shield bracket (100) is configured to be welded to the hanger (120), and it is desired that material associated with the heat shield bracket (100) and the hanger (120) are compatible for welding. In an example, the heat shield bracket (100) is made of stainless steel.
[0022] Referring to Figs. 1, 2a-2b, and 3a-3b collectively, the heat shield bracket (100) provides a thermal shielding / insulating interface between the muffler (102) and the muffler mount (122). Thereby preventing thermal deterioration of the muffler mount (122). Further, structure associated with the heat shield bracket (100), as described earlier, reduces propagation of noise and vibrations to the vehicle body.
[0023] Although embodiments for the present subject matter have been described in language specific to structural features, it is to be understood that the present subject matter is not necessarily limited to the specific features described. Rather, the specific features and methods are disclosed as embodiments for the present subject matter. Numerous modifications and adaptations of the system/component of the present invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art, and thus it is intended by the appended claims to cover all such modifications and adaptations which fall within the scope of the present subject matter.
