BAGKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:
'Nutraceutical" is any substance that may be considered a food or part of
a food and provides medical or health benefits, encompassing prevention
and treatment of diseases. Such products may range from isolated
nutrients, dietary supplements and diets to genetically engineered
"designer" foods, herbal products and processed foods such as cereats,
soups and beverages. "Nutraceuticals and functiona! foods have
received considerable interest because of their presumed safety and
potential nutritional and therapeutic effects". There is, thus, a protiferation
of these value-added products aimed at not only keeping oneself healthy
but also prevention/treatment of various ailments ranging from heart
diseases to cancer. The main aim is based on the disease preventing
phytonutrients present in herbal plants. Phenols, which are a large group
of phytonutrients, have great importance in preventive medicine.
Phytochemical is used to enhance the efficacy of vitamin C. lt can also

act against allergies, ulcers, tumors, pratelet aggregation, controlling
hypertension and reduces the risk of estrogen induced cancer. The food
plays significant role in the general heatth of women. The right food has
the power to heal, keeping good health of body functions, ageing,
rejuvenating, immuno-modulating and prevention against diseases. A
drug shows various adverse effects that enables consumer to take food
supplements to improve health. Such products include isotated nutrients,
dietary supplements, herbal products and processed food such as
cereals, soups and beverages. Nutraceuticats are used in various
diseases, Alzheimer"s disease, cardiovascular diseases, obesity disease,
cancer etc. Malnutrition is the condition that results from taking an
unbalanced diet in which certain nutrients are lacking, in excess (too high
an intake), or in the wrong proportion. A number of different nutrition
disorders may arise, depending on which nutrients are under or
overabundant in the diet. ln most of the wortd, malnutrition is present in
the form of under nutrition, which is caused by a diet lacking adequate
calories and protein causes people suffer from malnutrition. Moringa is a
source of vitamins, minerals, protein and essentiat fatty acids. The other
nutrients required for optima! cellular health are the essential Fatty Acids.
As strange as it may sound, there are good fats that actively help create
good health. These are the now-famous omega-3 and omega-6 fatty
acids. Emblica officinalis could protect the respiratory tract from
infections such as pneumonia. lt significantty towers the bacterial load in
the lungs.

OBJECTS OF THE |NVENTION:
An object of this invention is to propose a herbat nutraceutical formulation
for malnutrition in women.
Another object of this invention is to propose a process for the
preparation of herbal nutraceutical formulation for matnutrition.
Still another object of this invention is to propose a combination of herbal
plants with a base material to produce essential naturat nutritions.
Further object of this invention is to propose a nutraceuticat formutation
to improve the general health of matnutrition as food supplements with
specific functional attributes.
BRIEF DESGRIPTION OF THE INVENTION:
This invention relates to a herbal nutraceutical formulation for
malnutrition in women comprising:
10-20o/o of Phyllanthus emblica,
3040o/o of Moringa olifera,
20-30o/o of Asparagus officinalis, and
3045o/o of Spirulina.

ln accordance with this invention there is also provided a method for
preparing a herbal nutraceutical formulation comprising:
collecting green fruits of phyllanthus emblica;
drying the fruits of phyllanthus emblica
subjecting the dried fruits to the step of deseeding and crushing to a
powder state,
sieveing and extracting the powder with warm water,
collecting mature stem and roots of Asparagus officinatis,
washing and then drying the stem and roots,
subjecting the dried mature to the step of pulverization,
extracting the powder with water evaporating the extract,
drying the extract to a ratio of 4% collecting fresh mature stem and
leaves of Moringa olifera,
washing and drying the parts for 8-1Ohrs,
pulverizing the dried parts into powder form,
subjecting the powder to the step of extraction with an generic solvent,
evaporating the extract,

drying the said extract to a ratio of 5:1 using adsorbants,
mixing the extract fractions in the following ratio:
Phyllanthus emblica -500-700 mg
Moringa olifera-1 .5-2.2 gm
Asparagus officinalis-1 00-200 mg, and
Spirulina400-600 mg
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION:
The present invention relates to the processes described below can be
scaled up to produce larger quantities of extracts. The details provided
for preparation of the following abstracts reflect the presently preferred
method for extract preparations and not be consider as limiting. The
quantities and times described below can be varied substantially to
provide suitable extracts.
Suitable fresh green fruits of Phyllanathus emblica, are selected and sun
dried. The fruits are deseeded and crushed to a powder state. The
pulverized powder is then sieved and extracted with warm water at
temperature not exceeding 30 C for 8-10 hrs. The extract fractions were
collected and air dried to a ratio 8:1.

Fresh mature stem and roots of Asparagus officinalis, are setected and
removed for extraneous matters. The parts are washed and air dried for
a time period of 8-10 hrs. The dried parts are pulverized in a powder form
and then extracted with water at temperature not more than 40C for 8-12
hrs. The extract fraction are collected and evaporated for extra water
content. The extract is air dried to a ratio 4:1. Asparagus officinalis
extracts contain alkaloids 0.15o/o as asparagine and shatavarine as
biochemical marker compound with 15-20% total saponin.
Fresh mature stems/leaves of Moringa olifera are selected and removed
for extraneous matters. The parts are washed and air dried for a time
period of 8-10 hrs. The dried parts are pulvenzed in a powder form and
then extracted with aqueous methanolic fraction (80:20o/o) at temperature
not more than 40C for 8-12 hrs. The extract fraction are collected and
evaporated for extra water content. The extract is air dried to a ratio 5:1,
using suitable adsorbants. The extract fraction contains Vit A (not less
than 0.08%) and other Vitamins like Vit C. lt contains B sitosterol not less
than 460/o.
Dried Spirulina powder of specific alga (Red alga), is used as suitable
additive to the extract mix powder, as a constituent formulation.
The extract mix fractions for the formulation as a treatment mode for
malnutrition contains the fractions in following ratio:

WE CLAIM:
1. A herbal nutraceutical formulation for malnutrition in women comprising:
10-20% of Phyllanthus emblica,
3040o/o of Moringa olifera,
20-30o/o of Asparagus officinalis, and
3045% of Spirulina.
2. A method for preparing a herbal nutraceutical formutation comprising:
collecting green fruits of phyllanthus emblica;
drying the fruits of phyllanthus emblica
subjecting the dried fruits to the step of deseeding and crushing to a
powder state,
sieveing and extracting the powder with warm water,
collecting mature stem and roots of Asparagus officinatis,
washing and then drying the stem and roots,
subjecting the dried mature to the step of pulverization,
extracting the powder with water evaporating the extract,
drying the extract to a ratio of 4o/o collecting fresh mature stem and
leaves of Moringa olifera,
washing and drying the parts for 8-1Ohrs,
pulverizing the dried parts into powder form,
subjectlng the powder to the step of extraction with an generic solvent,
evaporating the extract,
drying the said extract to a ratio of 5:1 using adsorbants,
mixing the extract fractions in the following ratio:
Phyllanthus emblica -500-700 mg
Moringa olifera-1 .5-2.2 gm
Asparagus officinalis-1 00-200 mg, and
Spirulina400-600 mg
3. The method as claimed in claim 2, wherein the said step of
extraction of phyllanthus emblica is preferred at a temperature not
exceeding 30'C for 8-10 hrs.
4. The method as claimed in claim 2, wherein the extract of phyllanthus
emblica is air dired to a ratio of 8o/o.
5. The method as claimed in claim 2, wherein the parts of Asparagus
officinalis is dried for a period of 8-10 hrs.
6. The method as claimed in claim 2, wherein the dried parts of
Asparagus officinalis is extracted with water at a temperature not
more than 40'C for 8-12 hrs.
7. The method as claimed in claim 2, wherein the powder of Moringa
olifera is extracted in aqueous methanolic fraction(80:20%) at a
temperature not more than 40'C for 8-12 hrs.
