Abstract: The disclosure herein generally relate to range transmission units in vehicles and more, particularly to a high range locking system for the range transmission unit of a height adjustable vehicle, which restricts a movement of a range shift lever to a high range position thereby restricting engagement (selection) of a high range gear when the height adjustable vehicle is in a high ground clearance condition. The high range locking system (100) includes a first locking member (102), a second locking member (104), a pivot pin (106), a pivot lever (108) and an intermediate linkage (110). The high range locking system (100) enhances the safety of operator and/or pedestrians by restricting a movement of the range shift lever to the high range position when the vehicle is in the high ground clearance condition.
The embodiments herein generally relate to range transmission units in vehicles and more, particularly to a high range locking system for the range transmission unit of a height adjustable vehicle, which restricts a movement of a range shift lever to a high range position thereby restricting engagement (selection) of a high range gear when the height adjustable vehicle is in a high ground clearance condition.
BACKGROUND
[002] Agriculture has a tremendous need for tractors having various characteristics. This need has been met primarily by building a wide variety of tractors, including wheeled and tracked, of various heights and configurations. During inter-culture operations, tractors with customized high ground clearance have the flexibility to adjust the ground clearance to suit the crop heights. When the vehicle is in high ground clearance condition, it is difficult to control the vehicle if the operator unintentionally shifts a range shit lever to a high range position causing engagement of a high range gear. This may result in accidents causing injury to the operator and/or pedestrians or any damage to any property.
[003] Therefore, there exists a need for a high range locking system for a range transmission unit of a height adjustable vehicle, which obviates the aforementioned drawbacks.
OBJECTS
[004] The principal object of embodiments herein is to provide a high range locking system for a range transmission unit of a height adjustable vehicle.
[005] Another object of embodiments herein is to provide the high range locking system which restricts a movement of a range shift lever to a high range position thereby restricting engagement (selection) a high range
gear when the vehicle is in a high ground clearance condition thereby enhancing the safety of operator and/or pedestrians.

It should be understood, however, that the following descriptions, while indicating embodiments and numerous specific details thereof, are given by way of illustration and not of limitation. Many changes and modifications may be made within the scope of the embodiments herein without departing from the spirit thereof, and the embodiments herein include all such modifications.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0014] The embodiments herein and the various features and advantageous details thereof are explained more fully with reference to the non-limiting embodiments that are illustrated in the accompanying drawings and detailed in the following description. Descriptions of well-known components and processing techniques are omitted so as to not unnecessarily obscure the embodiments herein. The examples used herein are intended merely to facilitate an understanding of ways in which the embodiments herein may be practiced and to further enable those of skill in the art to practice the embodiments herein. Accordingly, the examples should not be construed as limiting the scope of the embodiments herein.
[0015] The embodiments herein achieve a high range locking system for a range transmission unit of a height adjustable vehicle, which restricts a movement of a range shift lever to a high range position thereby restricting engagement (selection) of a high range gear when the height adjustable vehicle is in a high ground clearance condition. Referring now to the drawings Figs. 1 through 5, where similar reference characters denote corresponding features consistently throughout the figures, there are shown embodiments.
[0016] Fig. 2 depicts a perspective view of the high range locking system (100), where the height adjustable vehicle (10) is in the high ground clearance condition, according to embodiments as disclosed herein. Fig. 4 depicts another perspective view of the high range locking system (100), according to embodiments as disclosed herein. In an embodiment, the high range locking system (100) includes a first locking member (102), a second locking member (104), a pivot pin (106), a pivot lever (108) and an intermediate linkage (110). For the purpose of this description and ease of understanding, the high range locking system (100) is explained herein with below reference to restricting a movement of the range shift lever (RL) to a high range position thereby restricting engagement (selection) of a high range gear in the range transmission unit when the height adjustable vehicle
(10) is in a high ground clearance condition, where the height adjustable vehicle is considered to be an agricultural vehicle. However, it is also within the scope of the invention to use/practice the high range locking system (100) in any other agricultural machines or any other off-road vehicles or any other vehicles, where restricting the movement of the range shift lever (RL) to the high range position is required, without otherwise deterring the intended function of the high range locking system (100) as can be deduced from the description and corresponding drawings.
[0017] Fig. 3a and fig. 3b illustrates the height adjustable vehicle (10) in the normal ground clearance condition and the high ground clearance condition respectively. The height adjustable vehicle (10) is configured to be converted between one of the normal ground clearance condition and the high ground clearance condition. In the normal ground clearance condition, a chassis (C) of the vehicle (10) is moved to a lowered position in which the chassis (C) is closer to the ground. The chassis (C) is at a height (HI) from ground surface (G) in the normal ground clearance condition. In high ground clearance condition, the chassis (C) is moved to a raised position in which the chassis (C) is above the lowered position. The chassis (C) is at a height (H2) from ground surface (G) in the high ground clearance condition, where height (HI) is lesser than height (H2). The pivot pin (106), the pivot lever (108) and the intermediate linkage (110) forms a plurality of linkages (106, 108, 110) which connects the second locking member (104) to a range shift lever (RL) of the range transmission unit.
[0018] The first locking member (102) is defined on a final drive housing (FH). In an embodiment, the first locking member (102) is a rib that is integrated on the final drive housing (FH). In another embodiment, the first locking member (102) is a separate part that is removably or fixedly connected to the final drive housing (FH).
[0019] The second locking member (104) coupled to a range shift lever (RL). The second locking member (104) is adapted to engage the first locking member (102) to restrict a movement of the range shift lever (RL)
to the high range position when the vehicle is in the high ground clearance condition. The second locking member (104) is coupled to the range shift lever (RL) through the plurality of linkages (106, 108, 110). The first locking member (102) is spaced away (as shown in fig. 1) from the second locking member (104) thereby allowing a movement of the range shift lever (RL) to the high range position when the vehicle is in a normal ground clearance condition, (as shown in fig. 1).
[0020] The pivot pin (106) is adapted to mount the second locking member (104) at one end and the pivot lever (108) at other end, (as shown in fig. 4). One end of the intermediate linkage (110) is connected to the pivot lever (108) and another end of the intermediate lever (110) is connected to an leg (RLL) of the range shift lever (RL), (as shown in fig.
5))-
[0021] The technical advantage of the high range locking system (100) is as follows. The high range locking system (100) enhances the safety of operator and/or pedestrians by restricting a movement of the range shift lever to the high range position when the vehicle is in the high ground clearance condition.
[0022] The foregoing description of the specific embodiments will so fully reveal the general nature of the embodiments herein that others can, by applying current knowledge, readily modify and/or adapt for various applications such specific embodiments without departing from the generic concept, and, therefore, such adaptations and modifications should and are intended to be comprehended within the meaning and range of equivalents of the disclosed embodiments. It is to be understood that the phraseology or terminology employed herein is for the purpose of description and not of limitation. Therefore, while the embodiments herein have been described in terms of embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the embodiments herein can be practiced with modifications within the spirit and scope of the embodiments as described herein.
