A HINGE ASSEMBLY;
LARSEN & TOUBRO LIMITED, A COMPANY INCORPORATED UNDER THE COMPANIES ACT, 1956, WHOSE ADDRESS IS L&T HOUSE, BALLARD ESTATE, MUMBAI - 400 001, MAHARASHTRA, INDIA
THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATION
PARTICULARLY DESCRIBES THE INVENTION AND THE MANNER IN WHICH IT IS TO BE PERFORMED.
FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to hinges.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
A hinge connects two solid objects such that only a limited angle of rotation may be allowed between them. Two objects connected by a hinge, rotate relative to each other about a fixed axis of rotation.
The hinges known in the art have a problem that occurs during opening the cover of deep drawn enclosure.
Such a hinge is taught by US Patent No. 7,552,511. It discloses an Adjustable Hinge: An adjustable hinge has a frame leaf with a door leaf rotatable mounted thereto. An adjustable mounting assembly has a snap-in connection to the door leaf. A slideable carriage is utilized. Vertical adjustment is provided by a bevel gear assembly. Horizontal adjustment is provided through a screw which pivots the door leaf.
A novel hinge is therefore required and the same is disclosed as follows.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
It is an object of the present invention to provide a solution to the problem occurring during opening the cover of deep drawn enclosure by 180°.
In accordance with this, there is provided a hinge assembly comprising two hinge components, engaged with each other by a rivet and fixed with an enclosure and a cover. The two hinge components are similar in design except the bend given at the bottom is opposite in both components in order to fix them with enclosure and cover respectively and in order to provide 180° opening to the deep drawn enclosure.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Reference will be made to embodiments of the invention, examples of which may be illustrated in the accompanying figures. These figures are intended to be illustrative, not limiting. Although the invention is generally described in the context of these embodiments,
it should be understood that it is not intended to limit the scope of the invention to these particular embodiments.
Fig. 1 shows the detailed isometric view of the hinge assembly according to an embodiment of the present invention.
Fig. 2 shows the detailed isometric view of the hinge assembly with cover closed position as per the present invention.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Disclosed herein is a hinge assembly that is designed to solve the problem of hinges known in the prior art. Said problem occurs during opening the cover of deep drawn enc/osure by 180°. The device is capable of openrng the cover by 180°.
Fig. 1 shows the detailed isometric view of the hinge according to an embodiment of the present invention.
Fig. 2 shows the detailed isometric view of the hinge with cover closed position as per the present invention.
By referring to the figures, Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, it can be seen that the integrated hinge comprises two hinge components 103 and 105. Said components are made engaged with each other by a rivet 104. The hinge components 103 and 105 are similar in design except the bend given at the bottom is opposite in both components in order to fix them with an enclosure 101 and a cover 107 respectively.
The hinge components 103 and 105 are fixed with the enclosure 101 and cover 107 with the help of screws 102 and 106. The assembly with screws will provide facility of replacement of the hinge. The design of the hinge components 103 and 105 are such that there will not be any interference among them during closed cover condition. Also the interference of hinge components with cover and box may be avoided during open cover and closed cover condition.
The hinge assembly is done by riveting the hinge components there by giving the enough strength to the assembly to cany the weight of the cover and the components assembled on the cover without deformations. The hinge will be fitted to cover and box with screws there by giving facility of removal or replacement of hinge easily during maintenance or damage.
The hinge is not visible from external there by reducing the external size of product and avoiding the damage to hinge. Also the internal hinge will improve the aesthetics of the product.
While the foregoing is directed to embodiments of the present invention, other and further embodiments of the invention may be devised without departing from the basic scope thereof, and the scope thereof is determined by the claims that follow.
We Claim
1. A hinge assembly comprising:
two hinge components, engaged with each other by a rivet and fixed with an
enclosure and a cover;
wherein the two hinge components are similar in design except the bend given at the bottom is opposite in both components in order to fix them with enclosure and cover respectively and in order to provide 180° opening to the deep drawn enclosure.
2. The hinge assembly as in claim 1, wherein hinge components are fixed with the enclosure and cover with the help of screw.
3. The hinge assembly as in claim 1, wherein the hinge components do not interfere with each other during closed cover condition.
4. The hinge assembly as in claim 1, wherein there is no interference of hinge components with cover and box during open cover and closed cover condition.
5. The hinge assembly as in claim 1, wherein the hinge is not visible from outside.
6. The hinge assembly as in claim 1, wherein rivet ensures the high strength to carry weight of the cover when cover is open.
