[0001] The present disclosure relates to a holding device. Particularly, the present disclosure relates to a holding device for holding cylindrical components having variable diameters. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to a holding device for holding cylindrical components, such as harness and hose of variable diameters on a vehicle or any dynamic environment.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
[0002] A lot of cables, wire harnesses, and hoses are provided in a vehicle which are mounted in their corresponding clamps to avoid hanging of the wire harnesses and hoses, and also to avoid vibrations. The clamps are mounted on the body of the vehicle to fix the position of the harnesses and the hoses.
[0003] In the existing technologies, a plurality of structures are provided to hold the harnesses and the hoses. As shown in figure 1, a clamp structure is illustrated as claimed in German Patent Application Publication DE102007031405A1, where a holding device 1 has a holding part 4 formed for receiving an elongated component e.g. tube. A base part 3 has a fastening device 6 for fastening the holding device to another component, i.e., body work. A web-like flange 11 is provided, where another holding device is fasten-able to the web-like flange in a retaining opening 12. The retaining opening 12 is provided on the web-like flange, where the retaining opening 12 cooperates with a fastening unit of the holding device 1. The holding device 1 is made of plastic material.
[0004] In the existing solutions, a separate holding device is to be mounted on the first holding device where two separate holding device are required and mounting the same is also time consuming and in-efficient in terms of vibration. With two different mounting provisions, vibration is generated in two separate points. In another clamp structures where two clamp holding portions or devices are integrated with each other, in these existing structures both the holding portions are offset to each other and holding of the harness or hoses are not efficient in term of vibration and space optimization. Further, strength of the clamp structure is not appropriate to handle two elongated components.
[0005] Technical problem associated with the existing clamp structures/holding devices is that the elongated component may vibrate with respect to the holding structure. Another technical problem is that the strength of the existing clamp structures is not efficient to hold the two elongated components of variable diameters for a long time.
[0006] In order to provide a technical solution for above mentioned technical problems of the holding device. A holding device is required where there is no offset distance between two holding structures and there is no vibrations in the holding device as well as in between the elongated components and the holding structure of the holding device.

The following description is, therefore, not to be taken in a limiting sense.
[0037] The present disclosure provides a structure of a holding device for holding elongated components both harness and hose or any two tubes of variable diameter or any elongated component with variable diameter in automotive application. The present holding device results in an efficient packaging of the two parts where one elongated component is taped on to a holding guide structure for holding and the other elongated component is inserted in to a claw type holding structure that can be inserted post assembly of the holding device on the vehicle. The holding structure define an oblique opening direction that leads to and easy assembly of the elongated component and the holding device anchor positioning provides a stable layout to the holding device considering the vehicle dynamic.
[0038] Fig. 2a, 2b, and 2c illustrate perspective, front and side view of the holding device 100 in accordance with the present disclosure. The holding device 100 is used for the collective holding of at least two elongated components with variable diameters in the vehicle. The holding device comprises a longitudinal holding structure 101 having an upper surface 101a and a lower surface 101b and a claw type holding structure 102 defining a cylindrical holding structure with an opening 103 to receive the elongated component 202 (as shown in fig.5). The claw type holding structure 102 is connected with the holding guide structure 101 at middle. The holding device 100 further comprises a mounting fastener 104 that extends away from the lower surface 101b of the longitudinal holding structure 101 where the claw type holding structure 102 is connected with the longitudinal holding structure 101. The mounting fastener 104 may be a clip fastener or any other known fastener.
[0039] As shown in fig. 2a and 2b, the longitudinal holding guide structure 101 defines flanges 105 that extend in downward direction along the direction of the mounting fastener 104 at both longitudinal ends. The upper surface 101a of the longitudinal holding structure 101 defines a concave shape where side edges 101aa, 101ab are bent in upward direction to define curved profile to receive the elongated component 201 (as shown in fig. 3a and 3b). As shown in fig. 2b, a longitudinal portion ‘Y’ of edges of the lower surface 101b of the holding guide structure 101 towards longitudinal ends are chamfered to define a fastening means holding portion.
[0040] Referring to fig. 4, a first elongated component (which can be tube or harness) 201 is fixed onto the longitudinal holding structure 101 of the holding device 100 using fastening tapes which are assembled on the longitudinal ends of the longitudinal holding structure 101. As shown in fig. 4, the area of taping on the lower surface 101b of the longitudinal holding structure 101 is chamfered to provide a fastening means holding portion 401 (as denoted by the dotted line) to restrict the movement of tape and prevents it from slipping away from the desired position/range. The tape is positioned on the longitudinal holding structure 101 by means of the flange 105 at one end and the fastening means holding portion 401. In an embodiment, the fastening means holding portion 401 scope may also be extended to using the tie band instead of taping.
[0041] With the present fastening means holding portion 401 a stability to the structure is provided by maintaining a constant gap between two mounting positions at longitudinal ends. The scope of the longitudinal holding portion can be extended to the usage of clamp for variable length as per the assembly and clearance requirement.
[0042] Referring to fig. 2a, 2c, the claw type holding structure 102 defines the opening 103 which is an oblique opening defining an angle with respect to vertical line which is parallel with the mounting fastener 104. As shown in fig. 3a and 3b where the elongated component 201 is clamped inside the cylindrical holding structure defined by the claw type holding structure 102 where the elongated component 201 is inserted inside the cylindrical holding structure through the oblique opening 103.
[0043] As shown in fig. 2a and 2c, a flanges 103a, 103b are provided on end portions of the claw type holding structure 102 defining the opening 103. The flange (103a) extends outwardly in vertical upward direction from the claw type holding structure 102 and the flange 103b extend outwardly at an angle from the claw type holding structure 102. The flange 103a and the flange 103b combinedly define the oblique opening 103.
[0044] Referring to fig. 5 and then fig. 3a in sequence, the second elongated component 201 which may be harness/tube/hose is inserted into the claw type holding structure 102 after the holding device 100 has been fitted onto the vehicle body by means of the mounting fastener 104. The oblique opening 103 is positioned at an angle to ensure the opening of the claw type holding structure 102 in the direction 501 of the elongated component 201 insertion to ensure assembly ease. Further, the scope of the holding device 100 may be extended to keep any angle of opening. With the oblique opening 103 of the claw type holding structure 102 provides retention of the elongated component 201 from the impact of any force applied on the holding device 100 in vertical direction through the body.
[0045] The flange 103a, 103b are elongated structures that are provided on the opening of the claw type holding structure 102 to enable the guiding of the elongated component into the claw type holding structure 102. Combination of the flange 103a, 103b provides a gateway to enable easy assembly. Further, the scope of the claw type holding structure 102 may be extended to increasing the guide length based on the hardness of the elongated component 201 to be inserted.
[0046] Referring to fig. 2a, 2b, the claw type holding structure 102 is supported by a plurality of ribs 107. The plurality of ribs 107 are provided in between the upper surface 101a of the longitudinal holding structure 101 and the outer surface 102b of the claw type holding structure 102. The plurality of ribs 107 provided on the upper surface 101a to strengthen the claw type holding structure 102 when the hose is fitted into the claw type holding structure 102.
[0047] Referring to fig. 2a and 2c, an inner surface 102a of the claw type holding structure 102 has a plurality of rib structures 106 that is extending toward center of the claw type holding structure 102. In an embodiment, a depression 106a is defined in each of the plurality of rib structures 106. The plurality of ribs structure 106 are provided on the inside face of the claw type holding structure 102 to enable the holding elongated component having variable diameter. Further, the number of ribs can be changed from in any number to improve the hose holding capacity. Further, the scope may be extended to hold multiple tubes of different diameters by changing the rib height. Further, the depression 106a on each of the plurality of ribs structure 106 ensures tight holding of the elongated component to avoid any slippage or vibration in between the elongated component 201 and the claw type holding structure 102.
[0048] Referring to fig. 2a, 2b, and fig. 6, the mounting fastener 104 is provided beneath the center of the connection of the claw type holding structure 102 and the holding guide structure 101. There is no transverse distance between the longitudinal holding structure 101 and the claw type holding structure 102. As shown in fig. 2b, also the longitudinal distance ‘X’ between the end of the longitudinal holding structure 101 and the claw type holding structure 102 is same. Referring to fig. 6, the present holding device provides balancing and rigidity of the whole structure by considering the assembly of the holding device in vehicle, assembly of elongated components in the holding device and the impact of vibrations on the holding device. The mounting fastener 104 is located centrally as indicated by reference numeral 601 so that the load from both the mounted parts 101, 102 is equally balanced and distributed. The mounting fastener 104 fits into a body or plastic panel of the vehicle or any other surface and locating the mounting fastener 104 within the boundaries of the holding device 100 minimizes the requirement of flat surface or any special feature which may be required on mating part. The mounting fastener 104 is applicable for variable thickness of the mating part. However, the scope may be extended to use on thicker part by modification of the locking structure
