FIELD OF THE INVENTION
Embodiment of the present invention relates to automotive lighting systems and more particularly to a lamp and rim assembly with bracket rim mounting.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
In case of Round Head Lamp, rim is the main component for mounting lamp on vehicle. In case of Bulb headlamps, the size of the lamp is small and the weight also less then comparing to LED type headlamps. And shape of the Bulb head lamps is also simpler than the LED type head lamps.
The available solutions use springs to fix lamp with rim which is possible because of availability of sufficient space as per assembly requirement to fix Lamp with rim. Some of the drawbacks are area required for spring fixing is more. Further, damping tap required between lens & rim to avoid damage of Lens in appearance area. And spring assembly is very difficult to assemble in process. In case of LED headlamps there are multiple light reflecting Parabola’s which makes Lamp shape big and difficult and Lamp fixing with Spring is not Possible as per Styling shape constraints.
Therefore, there is a need for a lamp and rim assembly with bracket rim mounting, which can overcome deficiencies and limitations of the prior arts.

In an embodiment, the one or more PCBs may be controlled by a switch (not shown). The switch may be, but not limited to, a Single Pole Single throw (SPST) switch, a single pole double throw (SPDT) switch, a double pole, single throw (DPST) switch, a double pole double throw (DPDT) switch. The switch may be operated by a user. The switch may be placed in a place easily operable by the user. The switch may be placed may be, but not limited to, on a handlebar, on dashboard, on steering wheel, on the head lamp (1024) or anyplace of a vehicle easily approachable to a user.
The invention works in following manner:
Figure 5, figure 5A-A and figure 5B-B illustrate working of the lamp (1024) and rim (104) assembly (100) as shown in figure 1, in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in figure 5A-A the one or more bracket rim mountings (106) is configured latch on the rim (104) from the first face (1061) and the second face (1062) using the upward force. The upward force against the plurality of second flanges (1042) restricts the motion of the rim (104) in all directions. Due to the the upward force the bracket rim mountings (106) act as a spring.
The one or more bracket rim mountings (106) are fastened on the housing (102) using the holes at the fourth face (1064) at the respective one or more bracket rim mountings (106) bolted on the one or more cavity (1020) of the housing (102). The one or more bracket rim mountings (106) bolted on the housing (102), are latched on the plurality of second flanges (1042) thereby clamping the rim (104) on the housing (102). The third face (1063) along with the first and the second face (1062) apply tension on the rim (104) at the plurality of second flanges (1042) thereby fixing the position of the rim (104) on the one or more bracket rim mountings (106) using cantilever snap fit mechanism.
Furthermore, as shown in figure 5 and explained in figure 5B-B, the plurality of ribs (1022) provided on the housing (102) configured to latch on the plurality of first flanges (1040) of the rim (104). In an alternate or additional embodiment, the plurality of ribs (1022) may be bolted or screwed on the plurality of first flanges (1040) of the rim (104). In another embodiment, the plurality of ribs (1022) may be fitted on the plurality of first flanges (1040) using a snap fit mechanism.
The present invention provides a number of advantages. Firstly, less space required for bracket rim mounting fixing during assembly. There is a reduced damping tap. Further, the cost of the lamp is reduced. Time of assembly is reduced due to less complicated and easy design. Easy assembly results in reduced operator fatigue. Further, Strength of the assembly is more than that of spring fixing. Furthermore, the compact size and less power consumption of the present invention make it a cost-effective solution to the problems of the prior art.
Various modifications to these embodiments are apparent to those skilled in the art from the description and the accompanying drawings. The principles associated with the various embodiments described herein may be applied to other embodiments. Therefore, the description is not intended to be limited to the embodiments shown along with the accompanying drawings but is to be provided broadest scope consistent with the principles and the novel and inventive features disclosed or suggested herein. Accordingly, the invention is anticipated to hold on to all other such alternatives, modifications, and variations that fall within the scope of the present invention and the appended claims.
