FIELD OF DISCLOSURE
The present disclosure relates in general to latch assemblies. Particularly, but not exclusively the present disclosure relates latch assemblies for vehicles. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to seat latch assemblies for two wheelers.
BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE
This section provides background information related to the present disclosure which is not necessarily prior art.
The market for two-wheeler vehicles is increasing significantly in todays' world since there is a greater demand for vehicles which consume less space on roads and are fuel efficient. Accordingly, two-wheelers are provided with certain features which provide ease and comfort to the riders. Further, these features should be cost efficient so that the cost of the vehicle as a whole does not increase.
Conventionally, two-wheelers comprise of a seat assembly on which the rider sits and drives the vehicle. This seat assembly is a flexible assembly which can move upwards upon applying force by the user since it is hinged. A seat latch is provided near the seat locking area which facilitates the locking and unlocking of the seat. Existing seat latch assemblies for two-wheelers have a slide plate which moves in the bracket. The movement of slide plate linearly facilitates the locking an unlocking of the seat of the vehicle. In existing latch assembly, the slide plate is moves in a bracket linearly guided at one point as shown in figure 1. Due to this reason there is a rotational play of the slide plate which causes wear and tear of the slide plate. Further, the assemblies with time get damaged due to the wear and tear caused.
Therefore, to overcome such a problem, a new latch assembly is developed which reduces rotational play of the slide plate and reduces wear and tear of the slide plate as well. Further, there is a need to develop a latch assembly which provides smooth operation, and which overcomes on or more problems associated with the existing assemblies.

The present disclosure discloses a latch assembly for automobile. The latch assembly comprising a bracket configured to accommodate one or more components of the latch assembly, an operating plate, a slide plate comprising a flange and attached with the operating plate. The bracket comprising a mounting flange, a guiding arm and a cut-out. The slide plate is movably positioned in the bracket and guided by the guiding arm and said flange is linearly guided within the cut-out. The movement of slide plate linearly facilitates the locking and unlocking of the seat of the vehicle.
Accordingly, the present disclosure is described with reference to the figures and specific embodiments; this description is not meant to be constructed in a limiting sense. In the figures, the same element or elements which have same functions are indicated by the same reference signs.
Referring to Figure 2, a perspective view of the latch assembly (100) is illustrated. In an embodiment, the latch assembly (100) for locking/unlocking of seat of two-wheeler vehicles is disclosed. The latch assembly (100) comprises a spring (1), a bracket (2), an operating plate (5) and a slide plate (6) with a flange (6a). In an embodiment, the side plate (6) is attached with the operating plate (5) by welding. The operating plate may be connected to a cable for actuating the peripheral lock. The bracket comprises a mounting surface (2a), a guiding arm (2b) and a cut-out (2c). The cut-out (2c) comprises a first end and a second end. An area extends between the first end and second end of the cut-out (2c) which is a flange area. The mounting surface (2a) is mounted on a vehicle panel (not shown) by using a plurality

of screws (3). In an embodiment, two screws are used for mounting the mounting surface (2a) on the vehicle panel. In an embodiment, the cut-out (2c) is provided on the side surface of the bracket (2).

The flange (6a) acts as a guiding face for the sliding plate (6) to move from one location to another. The movements of the flange (6a) are linearly guided within the flange area between the cut-out (2c). The cut-out (2c) allows only linearly translation of the flange (6a) within the flange area. This guides the linear movement of the slide plate (6) to prevent undesirable clockwise rotational play of the slide plate (6). The flange (6a) provides a support face with the mounting flange (2a) and guiding arm (2b) provides the guide to the sliding plate (6). The slide plate (6) comprises a bottom face (6c) that slides on the surface of the bracket (2) for locking/unlocking of the seat. The guiding arm (2b) is provided on the bracket (2) for linearly guiding the bottom face (6c) that constraints the undesirable anticlockwise rotational play of the slide plate (6). The slide plate (6) comprises a lever (6b) to provide forward and backward motion to the slide plate (6) for unlocking and locking of the seat of the vehicle.
In an embodiment of the present disclosure, the bracket (2), operating plate (5) and slide plate (6) may be made of any high strength materials such as metals, composites, etc.

The slide plate (6) is positioned in between the bracket (2) along with the spring (1) and clip (4). The spring (1) is connected with the lever (6b) of the slide plate (6). The spring (1) provides an auto return motion of the slide plate (6) after unlocking operation of the latch assembly. Therefore, the spring (1) acts as a resilient means for action of the sliding plate (6).

Referring to Figures 4a-4b, the positioning of lever (6b) at seat lock condition is illustrated. The lever (6b) of slide plate (6) slides outside the bracket (2) and makes a locking connection that prevents the upwards movement of the seat upon applying force. Referring to Figures 5a-5b, the positioning of lever (6b) at seat open condition is illustrated. The lever (6b) of slide plate (6) slides inside the bracket (2) that unlocks the seat and permits the upward movement of the seat upon applying force.
The user unlocks the latch assembly (100) and the lever (6b) of the slide plate (6) slides inside the bracket that permits the opening of the seat upon applying force. The further sliding of the slide plate (6) is restricted by the flange (6a). The lever (6b) of the slide plate (6) returns to the home position with application of the spring (1) after unlocking of the seat. The guiding arm (2b), cut-out (2c) and the flange (6a) reduce the rotational play of the sliding plate (6) by providing additional guiding to the sliding plate. This facilitates smooth movement of the sliding plate while operationally locking and unlocking the seat.
