Specification

TWO WHEELER LEG GUARD WITH POSITION LAMP OR DIRECTION
INDICATORS
Field of the invention
The present invention relates to a two wheeled vehicle provided with a novel leg guard with direction indicators. The present invention also relates to a leg guard for two wheeled vehicles such as scooters motorcycles provided with position lamps or direction indicators. Background of the invention
It is known in the art to prepare leg guards for two-wheelers with a pipe structure which is then fitted tot he front of the vehicle frame. The position lamp is optionally fitted on some vehicles and in some vehicles a direction indicator is placed mandatory in the front end of the vehicle as per the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 of the Government of India.
Vehicles available in the market use different construction and types of position lamps for the front or direction indicator lamps and mounting thereof Objects of the invention
The main object of the invention is to provide a two wheeled vehicle leg guard with position lamp or direction indicators.
It is another object of the invention to provide a two wheeled vehicle with improved safety features. Summary of the invention
Accordingly, the present invention provides a leg guard for a two wheeled vehicle comprising a leg guard provided with one or more windows cut open on the left and right arm thereof, a light source mounted on a cover through connecting means, said cover being in turn mounted on the leg guard arms.
In one embodiment of the invention, the light source is a light emitting diode (LED).

In another embodiment of the invention the light source is mounted on the cover through screws.
In another embodiment of the invention, the cover is mounted on the leg guard arm through screws.
In yet another embodiment of the invention, the light source comprises of one or more light emitting diodes and an LED lens, the LED's being connected through a wiring harness to a connector.
In yet another embodiment of the invention, the wiring connection is made in parallel to the head beam circuit of the two wheeled vehicle for use as a position lamp.
In yet another embodiment of the invention, the wiring connection is made parallel to the main direction indicator circuit on the vehicle for use as a direction indicator. Brief description of the accompanying drawings
Figure 1 is a schematic representation of the leg guard of the invention with position lamp/direction indicators provided thereon. Detailed description of the invention
The present invention provides a novel construction wherein the leg guard is fitted with additional position lamps or direction indicators on both the left and right sides thereof to enhance vehicle styling and visibility and also to enhance safety during night driving conditions.
The present invention therefore provides a additional position lamps/direction indicators on leg guard of two wheeled vehicles. The light source used is preferably a light emitting diode or incandescent lamp.
The present invention therefore provides a position lamp or direction indicator on the tubular structure of the leg guard. The lamp or direction indicator wiring harness is connected to the main headlamp or direction indicator circuit as appropriate.

Figure 1 is a schematic representation of the construction of novel leg guard of the invention provided with position lamps/direction indicators. The leg guard (1) assembly is provided with two windows (2) cut open on the left and right arm of thereof The light source which is preferably a light emitting diode (LED) assembly (3) is mounted on the cover (4). The LED lens (5) is connected to the cover (4) by means of any connection means such as two screws (6) depicted in Figure 1. The complete assembly comprising the LED assembly (3), cover (4) and LED lens (5) is connected to the leg guard (1) by means of any connecting means such as a screw (8) in the left and right windows (2) in the leg guard.
The LED's are connected through a wiring harness (9) to a connector (10). In order to use as a position lamp, the wiring connection is made in parallel to the head beam circuit and for use as a direction indicator the connection are made parallel to the main direction indicator circuit on the vehicle. The lens (5) color is white or amber as permitted by the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 of the Government of India.
It must be understood that various modifications and improvements are possible on the structure depicted above without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.

We claim:
1. A leg guard for a two wheeled vehicle comprising a leg guard provided with one or more windows cut open on the left and right arm thereof, a light source mounted on a cover through connecting means, said cover being in turn mounted on the leg guard arms.
2. A leg guard as claimed in claim 1 wherein the light source is a light emitting diode (LED).
3. A leg guard as claimed in claim 1 wherein the light source is mounted on the cover through screws.
4. A leg guard as claimed in claim 1 wherein the cover is mounted on the leg guard arm through screws.
5. A leg guard as claimed in claim 1 wherein the light source comprises of one or more light emitting diodes and an LED lens, the LED's being connected through a wiring harness to a connector.
6. A leg guard as claimed in claim 5 wherein the wiring connection is made in parallel to the head beam circuit of the two wheeled vehicle for use as a position lamp.
7. A leg guard as claimed in claim 5 wherein the wiring connection is made parallel to the main direction indicator circuit on the vehicle for use as a direction indicator.
8. A leg guard for a two wheeled vehicle substantially as described hereinbefore and with reference to the accompanying drawing.
