Specification

The present invention relates to a Li-Fi based wireless stereo sound transmission and receiver in headset system. The invention more particularly relates to a Li-Fi based Wireless stereo sound system for audio transmission
5 using Li-Fi transmitter and receiver in headset using a single light source have been implemented.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[002] As the demand for wireless data communication is increasing rapidly,
new technologies are arriving which use different frequencies in
10 electromagnetic spectrum as the carrier for transmitting data wirelessly. Wi-Fi
is one such method which uses radio waves to communicate wirelessly within
an area. As radio waves have some drawbacks, it is replaced by visible light
and hence the emerged technology is called Li–Fi technology. Li–Fi
technology uses visible light frequency, which is comparatively higher than
15 that of radio wave frequency. Any source of light such as an electric lamp or
LED is used as a source of VLC to transmit information. The light source such
as an LED or a LASER, which is used as the source for audio data
transmission has high brightness, low cost, low power consumption, long
lifetime and low heat radiation and hence it is used as a substitute for
20 established radio waves.
[003] Li–Fi is an emerging technology, as the radio wave communication has
certain drawbacks. This technology can transmit data with the higher
throughput than the radio waves. Li–Fi is categorized as reliable
communication technique as it provides high data security transmission with
3
low cost. In the proposed work, Li-Fi module for transmitting and receiving the
audio is built and tested successfully. It is possible to achieve audio data
transmission by using Li-Fi coupled multiplexers and demultiplexers. Further,
the audio transmission by using relevant photo sensor or optical sensor in the
5 receiver side.
[004] Accordingly, there remains a need in the prior art for a technical
convergence to make the system, apparatus, interfaces and method compact,
it is in this context that the present invention provides a Li-Fi based Wireless
stereo sound system and further, offers the safe usage of this system in the
10 sensitive area like hospital especially in the ICU’s or intensive care units. The
existing systems are likely to cause unhealthy effects on the patients’ in
hospitals due to the radio frequency interferences. The proposed system
overcomes the effects by replacing the radio frequency components with Li-Fi
equipment. Therefore, it would be useful and desirable to have a system and
15 interface to meet the above-mentioned needs.
SUMMARY OF THE PRESENT INVENTION
[005] In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known types of
system and devices to provide stereo audio streaming using wire or Wi-Fi, are
now present in the prior art, the present invention provides a Li-Fi based
20 Wireless stereo sound system. The system is designed with, but not limited
to, two housings, in which the first compact housing having the main stereo
sound input is communicatively coupled with the second compact housing
having the speaker system for output audio / sound signal by using a Li-Fi
4
transmission module and a Li-Fi receiving module, which has all the
advantages of the prior art and none of the disadvantages.
[006] One of the important aspect of the present invention, in which the both
housings is Li-Fi linked between the transmission module of the Li-Fi wireless
5 stereo system unit and the receiving module of the Li-Fi wireless speaker
system by using the visible light sources.
[007] Another object of the present invention to replace the Wi-Fi or wired
techniques with the Li-Fi one, the present invention is configured with Li-Fi
based protocols, interfaces and hardware units such as, but not limited to, Li10 Fi based level shifter, analog to digital converter and vice-versa, multiplexer,
demultiplexer, light modulation circuitry and other related amplifiers fitted with
a light source that could preferably be, but not limited to, a high intensity
electric lamp for audio streaming.
[008] It is an important aspect of the present invention to provide a Li-Fi based
15 Wireless stereo sound system, which is based on Li-Fi linking, and can be
considered better than Wi-Fi /Radio Wave based systems because there are
some limitations in Wi-Fi, with their radio frequencies, data security and
confidentiality to deliver wireless connectivity.
[009] Another object of the present invention is to provide the light source with
20 a novel hardware interaction by combining and working of the Li-Fi based
hardware in order to serve wireless linking and communication purposes to
offer better solution where a household has many appliances with audio
output, giving good quality audio streaming and also by reducing the
installation cost and environmental hazards for a premise through Li-Fi linking.

conversion sounds signals are transformed to digital analog format, amplified
and given to the output audio speaker or headset system.
[020] In accordance with another embodiment of the present invention, a first
compact housing having the Li-Fi stereo sound unit communicatively coupled
9
with a Li-Fi transmission unit Tx is used to place each of the electronic
components such as, but not limited to, the level shifters, ADC, Multiplexers,
the light source and requisite transmission interfaces at transmission end Tx,
and further, the first housing is communicatively coupled with the second

components at receiving module of the Li-Fi wireless output audio speaker or
headset system, which is Li-Fi link based, communicatively coupled with the
second compact housing as already described in above paragraph, by using
20 the requisite designated ports.
[023] In accordance with another embodiment of the present invention, the
transmitting terminals Tx can be further comprised of, but not limited to, a
signal amplification, modulation, light source and light modulation circuitry.
Further, the signal amplification is placed in the Li-Fi wireless transmission
10

15 the received Li-Fi signal in the desired form from the transmission module Tx.
[026] In accordance with another embodiment of the present invention, when
the stereo sound system is activated, the light source will start to perform audio
streaming then from the light a stream of photons is emitted, that light is called
as visible light. For the Li-Fi based audio streaming as soon as, lighting starts
20 transmitting the audio signal from the Li-Fi wireless stereo sound system to
the receiving module of the Li-Fi wireless output audio speaker or headset
system. Thus the audio streaming over light that is received at the optical or
photo sensor is passed on to the receiving terminals vis-à-vis a serial to
parallel conversion demultiplexer unit.
11
[027] In accordance with another embodiment of the present invention, the
output audio speaker or headset system includes ports, interfaces and a Li-Fi
supporting circuitry enabling the audio streaming through the Li-Fi receiving
unit. Further, the demultiplexer unit is configured to provide its output to a
