Abstract: A governor 10 of a high pressure fuel pump is described. The governor 10 comprises a housing 12 and a bore 14 defined therein. The bore 14 is adapted to receive a lock timing pin 16 therein that comprises a tapered portion 18, and a groove 20 defined 10 there through that is adapted to receive a flyweight pin 22 therein. The tapered portion 18, a flat shaped portion 24, a flanged portion 26, and an outer side portion 31 are secured to one another to constitute a unitary assembly. A lock bolt 30 is inserted through the lock timing pin 16. A bore 29 is defined through the lock bolt 30, the outer side portion 31, the flanged portion 26, and the flat shaped portion 24. A first end of 15 the shaft pin 35 is inserted through the bore 29 such that it abuts against the flyweight
Claims:1. A governor (10) of a high pressure fuel pump, said governor (10) comprising:
10 a housing (12) and a bore (14) defined within said housing (12), the bore (14)
adapted to receive a lock timing pin (16) therein, said lock timing pin (16)
comprising:
a tapered portion (18), said tapered portion (18) comprising a groove
(20) defined within said tapered portion (18), the groove (20) defined
15 within said tapered portion (18) adapted to receive a flyweight pin (22)
therein, and wherein the flyweight pin (22) is adapted to be secured
within the groove (20) defined within said tapered portion (18);
a flat shaped portion (24), a first end of said flat shaped portion (24)
secured to an end of said tapered portion (18);
20 a flanged portion (26), a first end of said flanged portion (26) secured
to an opposite second end of said flat shaped portion (24), wherein said
flanged portion (26) is inserted within a groove (28) defined in said
housing (12);
an outer side portion (31), an end of said outer side portion (31) secured
25 to an opposite second end of said flanged portion (26);
a lock bolt (30) inserted through the outer side portion (31), the flanged
portion (26), and partially through the flat shaped portion (24) such that
the lock bolt (30) extends outwardly from the outer side portion (31);
characterized in that
30 a bore (29) defined through said lock bolt (30), the outer side portion
(31), the flanged portion (26), and the flat shaped portion (24) such that
the bore (29) is in flow communication with the groove 5 (20) defined
within said tapered portion (18);
a shaft pin (35), a first end of said shaft pin (35) inserted through the
bore (29) defined through said lock bolt (30), the outer side portion
(31), the flanged portion (26), and the flat shaped portion (24) such that
10 the first end of said shaft pin (35) abuts against the flyweight pin (22)
that is adapted to be secured within the groove (20) defined within said
tapered portion (18).
2. The governor (10) for the high pressure fuel pump in accordance with Claim
15 1, wherein an opposite second end of said shaft pin (35) extends from an end
of said lock bolt (30) away from the flyweight pin (22) when the first end of
said shaft pin (35) abuts against the flyweight pin (22) that is adapted to be
secured within the groove (20) defined within said tapered portion (18) of said
lock timing pin (16).
3. The governor (10) for the high pressure fuel pump in accordance with Claim
1, wherein an opposite second end of said shaft pin (35) extends within the
bore (29) defined through said lock bolt (30), the outer side portion (31), the
flanged portion (26), the flat shaped portion (24) and the groove (20) defined
25 within said tapered portion (18) when the flyweight pin (22) is not secured
within the groove (20) defined within said tapered portion (18) of said lock
timing pin (16) such that said shaft pin (35) does not extend out of the bore
(29) defined through said lock bolt (30) and away from the flyweight pin (22). , Description:A governor 10 of a high pressure fuel pump is described. The governor 10 comprises
a housing 12 and a bore 14 defined therein. The bore 14 is adapted to receive a lock
timing pin 16 therein that comprises a tapered portion 18, and a groove 20 defined
10 there through that is adapted to receive a flyweight pin 22 therein. The tapered portion
18, a flat shaped portion 24, a flanged portion 26, and an outer side portion 31 are
secured to one another to constitute a unitary assembly. A lock bolt 30 is inserted
through the lock timing pin 16. A bore 29 is defined through the lock bolt 30, the outer
side portion 31, the flanged portion 26, and the flat shaped portion 24. A first end of
15 the shaft pin 35 is inserted through the bore 29 such that it abuts against the flyweight
