BACKGROUND
[003] A dump body or vehicle is widely used as main transportation means in construction industries. The dump body is configured to be tilted to dump the cargo as and when required. The tilting of the dump body is achieved by hydraulic means by actuating a lever. During equipment maintenance or servicing the dump body need to be hoisted and to be locked in tilted position to reach components under the dump body like transmission / alternator, propeller shaft and hydraulic system aggregates. The hoisting of the dump body needs to be fail proof for safety of the personnel/operator working under the dump body. Conventionally a rope type locking is used which may get damaged easily due to excessive load of the dump body as shown in figure 1.
[004] The present subject matter discloses a novel locking system for the dump body configured to overcome the limitations stated above.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[005] It is an object of the present invention to enable positive locking between the dump body and the main frame of a vehicle.
[006] It is an object of the present invention to increase safety of operator during maintenance of the vehicle.
[007] It is an object of the present invention to enable long life of the locking system.
[008] It is an object of the present invention to enable the locking system to withstand jerk loads from the vehicle movements or unprecedented wind forces emerges at open cast mines.

[0018] Referring to figure 1, in one aspect of the invention, a locking system 100 for a dump body 10 is disclosed. The locking system 100 comprises a locking plate 110 and plurality of locking pins 120. The locking plate 110 comprises a first end 112 and a second end 114. The first end 112 and the second end 114 comprise one or more holes 116 configured to receive the locking pins 120. The first end 112 of the locking plate 110 is configured to be locked with a main frame 20 of vehicle by means of one of the plurality of locking pin 120. The second end 114 is configured to be locked with the dump body 10 by means of another locking pin 120.
[0019] The locking system 100 is configured to lock the dump body 10 in the hoisted/raised position to ensure safety of the personnel working under the dump body 10. The locking system 100 provides a rigid and fail proof locking of the dump body 10. The one or more holes 116 are configured to lock the dump body 10 at plurality of intermediate raised levels.
[0020] In an embodiment of the present subject matter, the locking plate 110 is configured with a dog bone shape. The dog bone shape, having more material towards ends of the locking plate 110 and lesser material between the ends, provides strength to the locking plate 110 required to bear excessive load of the dump body 10 and to bear jerk load from the vehicle movement. The dump body 10 also faces unprecedented wind forces in the raised position of the dump body 10. The locking system 100 locks the dump body 10 in the raised position and configured to bear the loads.
[0021] In another embodiment, the locking plate 110 may be configured with any other shape which enables the locking plate 110 to bear the loads imparted on the dump body 10. Further the material of the locking plate 110 is a metal or alloy or any other rigid material capable of bearing the loads.
[0022] The present subject matter discloses a locking system 100 for a dump body 10. The locking system 100 comprises a locking plate 110 and plurality of locking pins 120. The locking plate 110 comprising a first end 112 and a second end 114 wherein the first end 112 and second end 114 are configured with one or more holes 116. The plurality of locking pins 120 are configured to lock the first end 112 with the main frame 20 of vehicle and the second end 114 with the dump body 10. The locking system 100 provides a rigid and fail proof locking of the dump body 10. Further the locking system 100 is configured to lock the dump body 10 in a raised position. In an embodiment, the one or more holes 116 are configured to lock the dump body 10 at plurality of intermediate raised levels.
[0023] The locking plate 110 is configured with a shape capable of bearing loads of the dump body 10. In an embodiment, the locking plate 110 is configured with a dog bone shape.
[0024] Further the material of the locking plate 110 is a metal or alloy or any other rigid material capable of bearing the loads.
[0025] Exemplary embodiments discussed above may provide certain advantages. Though not required to practice aspects of the disclosure, these advantages may include those provided by the following features.
[0026] Some embodiments of the subject matter enable positive locking between the dump body and the main frame of a vehicle.
[0027] Some embodiments of the subject matter enable to increase safety of operator during maintenance of the vehicle.
[0028] Some embodiments of the subject matter enable long life of the locking system.
[0029] Some embodiments of the subject matter enable the locking system to withstand jerk loads from the vehicle movements or unprecedented wind forces emerges at open cast mines.
[0030] Although implementations for the locking system 100 have been described in language specific to structural features and/or methods, it is to be understood that the appended claims are not necessarily limited to the specific features described.
