Abstract: The lubrication unit 10 comprises a tank 14 for storing a lubricant 16. The lubrication unit 10 further comprises a first flow path 18 and a second flow path 20 connecting the tank 14 and the injection pump 12. The lubrication unit 10 comprises 5 a filter 22 positioned in the first flow path 18 for filtering the lubricant 16 which is flowing into the injection pump 12. The lubricant unit 10 comprises a control unit 24 adapted to operate at least one component of the lubrication unit 10. The lubricant unit 10 comprises a flow meter 26 placed in the first flow path 18 and the flow meter 26 adapted to detect 10 dilution/contamination in the lubricant 16 based on at least one characteristic of the lubricant 16.
Claims:1. A lubrication unit (10) for an injection pump (12) in a vehicle (11), said
lubrication unit (10) comprises :
- a tank (14) adapted to store a lubricant (16);
- a first flow path (18) and a second flow path (20) connecting 5 said tank
(14) and said injection pump (12);
- a filter (22) positioned in said first flow path (18) for filtering said
lubricant (16) flowing into said injection pump (12);
- a control unit (24) adapted to operate at least one component of said
10 lubrication unit (10);
characterized in that:
- a flow meter (26) placed in said first flow path (18), said flow meter (26)
adapted to detect dilution/contamination in said lubricant (16) based on at
least one characteristic of said lubricant (16).
2. The lubrication unit (10) as claimed in claim 1, wherein at least one
characteristic of said lubricant (16) is chosen from a group of characteristics
comparing a flow rate, a viscosity value and the like.
3. The lubrication unit (10) as claimed in claim 2, wherein said flow meter (26)
adapted to detect a rate of change of viscosity of said lubricant (16) based on
a flow rate of said lubricant (16) in said first flow path (18).
4. The lubrication unit (10) as claimed in claim 3, wherein said rate of change
of viscosity detected by said flow meter (26) is transmitted to said control
unit (24) after every lubrication cycle.
5. The lubrication unit (10) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said flow meter (26)
30 detects flow rate/ viscosity of said lubricant (16) before reaching an inlet of
said injection pump (12) and after a back leak from said injection pump (12).
6. The lubrication unit (10) as claimed in claim 5, wherein said back leak from
said injection pump (12) is made to flow into said tank (14) via said second
flow path (20).
7. The lubrication unit (10) as claimed in claim 1, wherein a pressure sensor
(28)located in said first flow path (18), adapted to detect a pressure of said
lubricant (16) flowing into said injection pump (12).
8. The lubrication unit (10) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said control unit (24)
adapted to generate an alert based on said received rate of change of flow
rate/ viscosity and said detected pressure. , Description:The lubrication unit 10 comprises a tank 14 for storing a lubricant 16. The lubrication
