Abstract: This invention relates to a manual transmission shaft less shift system to shift gears in automobile comprising a frame forming a single structure including a plurality of forks, each of which is integrated to respective yoke and lug, which is accommodated in a transmission case. It involves the following advantageous features:- - Simple in construction - Cost effective comparatively - Lighter in weight comparatively, which leads to improved fuel efficiency. - Lesser number of child parts, thus better control of system parameters. - Compact, therefore less oil requirement for lubrication of drive train and less churning losses leading to more fuel efficiency.
FIELD OF INVENTION
[001] This invention is directed to a manual transmission shaft less shift system to shift gears in automobile. The system facilitates shifting of gears as per need.
BACKGROUND/PRIOR ART
[002] The shift shafts are integral part of gear shift system in transmission, the purpose of which is to hold shifting forks so that during the actuation of shafts, forks can engage the gears. It also provides guide for movement of forks.
[003] In the current system as illustrated in fig. 1 during the gear shifting, LGSS (lever Gear shift & select) (1) moves the yoke (2)attached to shifting shaft (3) which in turn moves the shafts. The movement of shafts causes the movement of forks (4) attached to shafts only which in turn moves the sleeves (5) to engage various gears. The reverse gear also gets actuated by movement of reverse gear lever (6) connected to one of the shafts.
[004] However, the aforementioned system is associated with the following drawbacks:
- Complex design.
- Very high cost.
- Heavy weight leading to less fuel efficiency.
- More number of child parts resulting difficulty in maintaining accuracy.
[005] According to another existing technology, shift mechanism includes shift yoke integrated shift fork made of sheet metal, which is actuated by a shaft, wherein the integrated fork and yoke is held by means of said shaft. Thus, it does not fulfill the design criteria of present invention of being shaft less.
[006] Hence, the instant invention has been introduced.
OBJECTIVE OF THE INVENTION
[007] An objective of this invention is to propose a manual transmission shaft less shift system to shift gears in automobile which obviates shortcomings of the prior arts.
[008] Another objective of this invention is to propose a manual transmission shaft less shift system to shift gears in automobile which is simple in design and compact.
[009] Further objective of this invention is to propose a manual transmission shaft less shift system to shift gears in automobile which is cost effective.
[0010] Further object of this invention is to propose a manual transmission shaft less shift system to shift gears in automobile which is lighter in weight comparatively.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION
[0011] According to this invention there is provided a manual transmission shaft less shift system to shift gears in automobile comprising a frame forming a single structure including a plurality of forks, each of which is integrated to respective yoke and lug, which is accommodated in a transmission case.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE DRAWINGS
[0013] The invention makes a disclosure regarding a technology pertaining to a manual transmission shaft less shift system to shift gears in automobile.
[0014] Being shaft less shift system, said system does not require to have shifting shaft (s).
[0015] Here, the yoke and fork are integrated so as to constitute a single unit. So that, the fork moves as soon as the yoke gets actuated by lever gear shift and select (LGSS). Further in accordance with the invention, Lugs are integral to the respective forks, which is accommodated in the slot provided in the transmission case.
[0016] Thus, the shifting motion is guided by said slot in the transmission case.
[0017] Now, reference may be made to fig. 2. The shaft less shift system comprises a frame (F) as in fig. 2A which constitutes a single structure. The system (fig. 2) is housed in a transmission housing (7') as in fig. 3.
[0018] The frame as best seen in fig. 2A includes a plurality of yokes (2') with forks (4'), wherein each of the yokes is integrated with corresponding forks. Further, a lug (3') is connected to each fork (4') by means of a connecting member (M). The frame also includes a single reverse gear lever (6'). The multitude of lugs (3') are aligned on the same side of the whole frame to be housed in said slot of transmission case.
[0019] In this particular exemplary embodiment, the number of forks, yokes and lugs are three without restricting scope of the invention to the same. Further, reference may be made to fig. 4 indicating individual unit of fork, yoke and lug.
[0020] One of the forks (4') is also integrated to a reverse gear lever (6') with the yoke therebetween as shown. Here, the fork with lug is provided in connection with the reverse gear lever with the help of a longitudinal member (R), in which the respective yoke is located at an intermediate point of said longitudinal member (R). Each of the forks is engaged with a sleeve (5') as in fig. 2.
[0021] The fork is specially devised to preferably have a cylindrical shaped lug which can slide in the slot (S) of the transmission case. As can be observed in fig. 3A, the slot is elongated member having substantially C-section, which is implemented to accommodate the multiple lugs (3') of the frame (F).
[0022] According to another embodiment, for which reference may be made to fig 5, a linear bearing (B) can be additionally provided with each of the lugs for improvement in gear shifting.
[0023] During the gear shifting, LGSS (lever Gear shift & select) (1') moves the yokes(2') causing the movement of forks (4') which in turn moves the sleeves (5') to engage with various gears. The reverse gear also gets actuated by movement of reverse gear lever (6') integrated to one fork itself with yoke (2') and lug (3').
[0024] The abovediscussed concept of invention renders the gear shifting system simple, cost effective, lighter in weight and compact.

- Compact, therefore less oil requirement for lubrication of drive train.
[0026] It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications, adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within the scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under the following claims:-
WE CLAIM:
1. A manual transmission shaft less shift system to shift gears in automobile comprising a frame forming a single structure including a plurality of forks, each of which is integrated to respective yoke and lug, which is accommodated in a transmission case.
2. A manual transmission shaft less shift system to shift gears in automobile as claimed 1 wherein the fork is connected to said lug by means of a connecting member.
3. A manual transmission shaft less shift system to shift gears in automobile as claimed in claim 1 or 2 wherein said lug is preferably cylindrical in profile, which is slidable in a slot of the case.
4. A manual transmission shaft less shift system to shift gears in automobile as claimed in any of the proceeding claims wherein said slot comprises an elongated member having substantially a C-section so as to house the multiple lugs of the frame.
5. A manual transmission shaft less shift system to shift gears in automobile as claimed in any of the proceeding claims wherein each of the lugs can be provided with a linear bearing for improvement in gear shifting.
6. A manual transmission shaft less shift system to shift gears in automobile as claimed in any of the proceeding claims wherein one of the forks is integrated to a reverse gear lever with the respective yoke therebetween.
7. A manual transmission shaft less shift system to shift gears in automobile as claimed in any of the proceeding claims wherein the fork with lug is provided in connection with the reverse gear lever with the help of a longitudinal member, in which the respective yoke is located at an intermediate point of said longitudinal member.
8. A manual transmission shaft less shift system to shift gears in automobile as claimed in any of the proceeding claims is associated with the advantageous features such as herein described.
9. A manual transmission shaft less shift system to shift gears in automobile substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
