3. PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed:
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates generally to switching devices having vacuum contactors. More particularly, the invention relates to a mechanical system employing the concept of mechanical conjunctions to provide an accurate fitment of auxiliary side block with the actuating mechanism to achieve efficient operation.
BACKGROUND AND THE PRIOR ART
Side add-on is used as an accessory for switching devices, particularly contactors to facilitate the provision for extra NO and NC connections. In contactors such as vacuum contactors, conventional actuating system is not used. Special holders are designed for the movable system to bring about the operation. The add-on block needs to be integrated with this movable part to bring about a change in state as per requirement.
The most desirable feature of the auxiliary block is that it should be easy to assemble and should not fall off during the normal operation of the switching device.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
One object of the invention is to overcome the disadvantages/drawbacks of the prior art.
A basic object of the present invention is to provide an accurate mechanism used to convert the horizontal motion of the bridge to the vertical motion of the auxiliary add-on bridge, bringing about the expected change in NO and NC states.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an easy to assemble auxiliary block which does not succumb to vibrations during operation.
These and other advantages of the present invention will become readily apparent from the following detailed description read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The following presents a simplified summary of the invention in order to provide a basic understanding of some aspects of the invention. This summary is not an extensive overview of the present invention. It is not intended to identify the key/critical elements of the invention or to delineate the scope of the invention. Its sole purpose is to present some concept of the invention in a simplified form as a prelude to a more detailed description of the invention presented later.
In one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a system for integration of side
add-on auxiliary block with the switching device. The system comprises:
an actuating mechanism comprising
a moving magnet (Al) with a moving magnet holder (A5),
a fixed magnet (A2),
a spring system (A4);
a connector assembly (A6) connected to a side add-on auxiliary block;
wherein said horizontal movement of said moving magnet (Al) with said moving magnet holder (A5) of said actuating system provides a corresponding vertical movement to said connector assembly.
Other aspects, advantages, and salient features of the invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art from the following detailed description, which, taken in conjunction with the annexed drawings, discloses exemplary embodiments of the invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention provides a mechanical system that consists of a connector which on one end is attached to the bridge of the side add-on auxiliary block. On the other end, the projection on this connector is resting against a suitable profile which is meant to bring about the intended motion of the auxiliary block.
This concept can be integrated with all the switching devices, where the direction of movement of actuating system and that of the auxiliary bridge are at 90 degrees to each other. Here the example of vacuum contactor is taken into consideration. The vacuum contactor is mounted in vertical condition. Here the movement of magnet is linear, however that of the holder is angular due to the mechanism. The travel of add-on which is to be achieved is vertical. Thus, this system provides a concept of converting the horizontal movement of the magnet to the vertical motion of the auxiliary side add-on bridge.
The connector pin is so made so as to ensure its proper fitment at the bridge of the auxiliary. The moving part of the actuating system comprises of a special carved out profile to ensure break before make for the mechanism, ensuring correct add-on travel.
Key features of the present invention:
• Easy in construction as the mechanism consists of very simple components which work in tandem to provide the desired result.
• Concept of converting horizontal to vertical motion achieved without much effort.
• Accuracy and reliability is more as compared to electrical systems.
• Assembly is easy at the user end as well.

By the term "substantially" it is meant that the recited characteristic, parameter, or value need not be achieved exactly, but that deviations or variations, including for example, tolerances, measurement error, measurement accuracy limitations and other factors known to those of skill in the art, may occur in amounts that do not preclude the effect the characteristic was intended to provide.
Features that are described and/or illustrated with respect to one embodiment may be used in the same way or in a similar way in one or more other embodiments and/or in combination with or instead of the features of the other embodiments.
It should be emphasized that the term "comprises/comprising" when used in this specification is taken to specify the presence of stated features, integers, steps or components but does not preclude the presence or addition of one or more other features, integers, steps, components or groups thereof.
Reference is first invited to Fig 1 where the first level assembly of connector 1 with the auxiliary bridge 2 is shown.
It is ensured that this fixing is extremely easy to do as well as it does not come out due to the impact of vibration during the operation of the device.
Figure 2 illustrates the profile 3 made for the travel of the connector 1 to achieve the desired travel and ensure that break before make is achieved for the auxiliary block.
Figure 3 shows the detailed view of integration of the assembly as shown in Figure 1 with the moving part 4 of the actuating system on both the sides.
Figure 4 illustrates the top view of the above described system with its actuating system. It consists of the moving magnet Al with the moving magnet holder A5. A2 is the fixed magnet with A3 as the energizing coil. A4 is the spring system while A6 is the system comprising of the integrated version of connector with the add-on bridge, with the connector pin suitably located in the profile specially carved out to achieve the intended travel. The system here is in its de-energized state that is no supply is given to the coil of the electromagnet.
Figure 5 shows the same system, however here supply has been given to the coil of the electromagnet, which energizes the actuating system and the moving magnet Al with the holder A5 is pulled towards the fixed magnet A2 against the spring system A4.
As and when the holder A5 travels along with the magnet, the connector assembly with the bridge rides on the profile made at the side of the holder. The connector pin follows this path and in turn transfers its force to the bridge of the auxiliary forcing it to move down. Thus, the horizontal movement of the actuating system forces the vertical motion of the auxiliary ensuring its accurate travel and change in state from NO to NC or vice versa.
According to one embodiment of the present invention, there is provided a mechanism which couples itself to the add-on bridge at one end and on the other end, it is coupled to the moving component of the actuating system.
The invented system is thus a mechanical system used to integrate the add-on travel with the actuating system travel, converting the horizontal movement of the actuating system with the vertical motion of the auxiliary contact bridge. The invented system can be used for all types of devices where the trajectory of motions for two systems is normal to one another.
