In an embodiment of the present disclosure, an apparatus for the security of the number plate is provided. The apparatus includes a bumper of a vehicle, a number plate, grommet and fasteners or screws. The grommet is affixed to the bumper by sliding to the slot provided in the bumper number plate area. The grommet will not come out due to interference between the grommet and the bumper slot. The grommet has a flexible flange with taper for flexing flange during demounting of the screw. The bumper has a tapered projection and it will act as a stopper feature. The number plate is mounted such that screw will rotate clockwise direction during tightening and stopper feature in the bumper will restrict the rotation of screw grommet by flange provided on the screw grommet thereby applying the required tightening torque. When the number plate has to be removed, the screw is loosened and the grommet will rotate in anticlockwise direction as the grommet flange will slides on stopper feature and get flex due to the groove when it slides over the tapered surface. Screw demounting torque cannot be applied as there is no restriction force to eliminate the rotation of the grommet. The grommet will rotate with screw while trying to demount screw. To remove the screw, the nut has to be hold tightly behind the bumper. This can be done only when the bumper is removed from the car or vehicle since there is no hand access inside the bumper.
