Disclosed herein is a method and a device for creating a personalised video of a user. The
device comprises a memory that stores multimedia content for the user. The multimedia content
includes images and video that may have been captured by the device itself or may have been
shared by other users. Also, each of the multimedia content has a corresponding capturing time
and location associated with it. From the multimedia content stored in the memory, a set of
4
multimedia content is selected in accordance with the time and location associated with them.
The selected multimedia content corresponds to an event experienced by the user. From the
selected multimedia content, the user’s interest is analysed by using image analysis technique
and a representative image is selected that describes that event. For determining the user’s
interest, plurality of objects which are present in surrounding of the user is identified. For this,
the selected set of multimedia content are analysed using the image analysis technique. These
objects may be elements which are present in background of the user while capturing the image
or making a video, for example, trees, birds, furniture, pizza, burger, car, bus and the like. From
the plurality of objects, useful and non-useful objects are identified based on the user’s
interaction or association with such objects. For example, user may be more interested in eating
pizzas and burgers, while images of table, chair, or car parked in background may also appear
in the image captured. However, the system may understand that table, chair, or car are the
non-useful objects in context of eating. Thus, the user’s interest (eating pizzas/burgers) may be
derived from the analysis.
The device further creates a personalised video of the user based on the user’s interest for that
particular event. The selected representative image forms the first layer of the video created for
the user. This technique allows the user to navigate through the gallery with ease and also create
a personalised experience of viewing multimedia content stored in the device.
Figure 1 shows an exemplary environment 100 of a device for creating a personalised video
of a user in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. It must be understood to
a person skilled in art that the present invention may also be implemented in various
environments, other than as shown in Fig. 1.
The user device 102 stores a plurality of multimedia content 104. The plurality of multimedia
content 104 comprises of images and videos that may either have been captured by the user
device 102 or shared by other users. The exemplary environment 100 can be better understood
with the help of an exemplary scenario where the user wants to view the multimedia content
corresponding to an event, say “a visit to an amusement park with three of his/her friends”.
Each of the multimedia content is associated with a capturing time and capturing location.
Based on these parameters, the user device 102, selects a set of multimedia content 106 that is
related to the visit to the amusement park.
The user device 102 then employs an image analysis technique to determine the interest of the
user based on the selected multimedia content. For example, during the visit to the amusement
5
park, the user was interested in taking adventurous rides as depicted by the selected multimedia
content. The user device 102 then creates a personalised video for the user based on his interest,
i.e., the personalised video 110 created for the user would contain multimedia content
corresponding to user’s interest of taking adventurous rides.
Similarly, the interest for the user’s friends that accompanied him/her to the amusement park
may be also analysed based on the selected multimedia content and the personalised video 110
created for each of them which may be different even though being related to the same event
of visiting the amusement park. The personalised video 110 is displayed to the user on the user
interface 108 of the user device 102. The image analysis technique would also select a
representative image from the selected multimedia content that would form the first layer of
the personalised video. For example, in this case, the selected representative image would be
an image with all the four friends together at the amusement park.
Figure 2 shows a block diagram 200 illustrating a user device 102 for creating a personalised
video of a user in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. The user device
102 comprises a memory 206 configured to store a plurality of multimedia contents 104. The
plurality of multimedia contents 104 stored in the memory 206 has their corresponding
capturing time and capturing location associated therewith. The memory 206 may include

(IC), a state machine, and the like.
The user device 102 further comprises of various hardware units 208 that include a selection
unit 210, an analysis unit 212 and a creation unit 214. The selection unit 210 selects a set of
multimedia content from the plurality of multimedia contents 104 accessed by the processor
204. The multimedia content is selected based on the capturing time and capturing location of
the multimedia content such that the selected multimedia content corresponds to an event
experienced by the user.
6
Further, the analysis unit 212 employs certain image analysis techniques to analyse the selected
multimedia content to determine the interest of the user for the particular event. Based on the
determined interest of the user, the creation unit 214 creates a personalised video 110 for the
user. The created personalised video may be an animated video or a sequence of images. The
analysis unit 212 also selects a representative image that acts as a first layer of the personalised
video 110 created for the user. The representative image is selected so as to completely describe
the event. The created personalised video 110 is displayed on the I/O interface 202. The I/O
interface 202 is the integrated display screen of the personal electronic device. The display
screen may include but is not limited to Cathode ray tube display (CRT), Light-emitting diode
display (LED), Electroluminescent display (ELD), Electronic paper, E Ink, Plasma display
panel (PDP), Liquid crystal display (LCD), High-Performance Addressing display (HPA),
Thin-film transistor display (TFT), Organic light-emitting diode display (OLED), or any other
display as may be obvious to a person skilled in the art. The I/O interface 202 is further
configured to receive user input in the form of touch, pressing a button on the portable
electronic device, etc.; and to display the personalised video to the user.
Figure 3 shows a method 300 for creating a personalised video of a user in accordance with an
