Abstract: ABSTRACT An automated method and device for effective stacking of primary packages (pouches) within a larger secondary packaging is provided. Accordingly, a filling station for pouches into a larger secondary packaging comprising of a hollow fixture with an empty secondary bag draped onto its outer is provided. There upon, the Pouches are conveyed to the filling station and dropped on top of the Fixture such that the top of the bag supports the pouches from " - .«J falling through. Thus, the dropped pouches are pushed into the fixture along with the top portion of the bag such that the next layer of pouches can be deposited on top of the current layer. Repeating this step will enable us to fill the required number of pouches into the bag,";
FIELD OF INVENTION-
The present invention relates to the field of packaging. Still particularly this invention relates to the Secondary bagging system involved in the packaging industry. Furthermore the present invention involves in the improvised method of Inverted / inside out Bag Filling for filling the secondary bags , filled with pouches, as the sale units, which are purchased by the retailers. Still further, the present invention aims at tumble free and shuffle free stacking of pouches in the secondary or retail bag at reduced drop height ensuring zero bursting or mis-orientation of pouches during stacking of them.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION:-
It is a very well-known fact that in the packaging industry, the flexible packaging, the pouches, which are the primary packages, essentially containing the saleable commodity packed within it, are to be held together in plurality of numbers within a secondary bag, also known as 'Secondary package9 are purchased by the retail traders. The retailers subsequently open the secondary bags and keep the pouches on display in their shops and establishments. Thus it can be understood that the pouches, which are kept in display in shops of the retail traders, must be ensured are intact till they reach the end user i.e., the consumer / customer, and are not having any undesirable effects such as wrinkle formation, damages minor or major in nature to their surface etc. In the occurrence of such undesirable events, they may result in rejection of the pouch by the customer and causing economic loss to the retail trader and ultimately loss of reputation to the primary producer, due to inferior packaging.
Thus, one can understand as to how critical the Secondary packaging and subsequent stacking and arranging of the pouches ( primary packages) within the Secondary packaging bags, for successful operation of the business cycle involved both with respect to the producer of the product/commodity as well as the retail traders of the same.
Given this nature, it can be observed that almost the entire organized flexible packaging industry in Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector have upgraded their primary
packaging machinery (up to pouch making) with state-of-the-art technology on par with the best in the world.
On the other hand, if one observes, it is the secondary packaging stage, which consists of Secondary Bag Forming, Filling with pouches and Sealing, is mostly manual and leaves much to be desired in terms of durability of packaging, reduction in damages while handling of the primary packaging etc. and it has definitely a large scope for automation and making it a fool proof and error free operation, especially when the count and quality of packaging matter.
It can be further observed that, the pouch bagger machines which are currently available provided by various suppliers employ a conventional process of dropping pouches into a formed bag from a height which is similar to bulk material filling. However, this method faces inherent problems of tumbling or shuffling of pouches while falling, from a substantial height and in some cases, bursting of pouches in some cases, which entails in dropping of the contents contained in the pouches and resulting in their spilling over rendering the entire packaging useless. Also, this conventional method forces the machinery manufacturers to use larger bags resulting in additional packaging consumable cost per retail unit. This is also saved to a large extent using the proposed process.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION:-
It is a principal object of the invention, to provide an efficient method and device which employs a unique process of Inverted / inside out bag filling.
Further it is an object of the invention to provide, an easy & efficient way and a device for Stacking of the. pouches, which are actually the primary packages into the Secondary packages, by conveying on to the filling station and dropping on top of the Fixture such that the top of the secondary bag supports the pouches from falling through.
Still further, it is an object of the invention to provide a system and method for addressing to the secondary packaging by providing a hollow fixture, which can collapse to receive the fresh bag and expand to receive the pouches with an empty secondary bag draped onto its outer surface when presented to the filling station.
The advantages envisaged by. this method are tumble free and shuffle free stacking of pouches, in the secondary packaging bag due to reduction in height from which the pouches are dropped. Further, the bursting of pouches during stacking is practically reduced to nil. Also, the action of controlled insertion of pouches into bag ensures tight packing and better packaging appeal.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION :-
Accordingly, the invention which primarily comprises of a hollow fixture with an empty secondary bag draped onto its outer is presented to the filling station. To this filling station, the pouches are conveyed and dropped on top of the fixture such that the top of the bag supports the pouches from falling through. Subsequently, the dropped pouches are pushed into the fixture along with the top portion of the bag such that the next layer of pouches can be deposited on top of the current layer. Repeating this step will enable us to fill the required number of pouches into the bag, while the bag wraps itself around the freshly arrived pouches.
The sequential steps involved in the improved and automized secondary packaging preparation of pouches (primary packaging) is given by the accompanied flow diagram.
CLAIMS
What is claimed is
1. A bag / pouches filling device essentially comprising of a hollow fixture with an empty
secondary bag draped onto its outer is presented to the filling station where upon to the said
filling station, the pouches are conveyed and dropped on top of the fixture such that the top of
the bag supports the pouches from falling through.
2. The said bag / pouch filling device upon which the dropped pouches are pushed into the fixture along with the top portion of the bag such that the next layer of pouches can be deposited on top of the current layer.
3. The said bag / pouch filling device enables repeating of the step ultimately enabling filling up of the required number of pouches into the bag, while the bag wraps itself around the freshly arrived pouches..
4. A method of filling up of empty bags / pouches with constituent requisite materials intended for sale in outlets, wherein the secondary bag / pouches are draped into a filling station, and conveyed on top of a fixture such that the topf of the bag supports the pouches / from falling and the dropped pouches get pushed into the said fixture and the subsequent layer of pouches can get deposited on the pre deposited layers of pouches.
