Abstract: A method for downloading graphics templates and meta data for embedded consumer electronic (CE) devices comprising the steps of: receiving template file in 2D/3D model in the input configuration file (1) located in the embedded device; and reading 2D/3D information and constructing scene graph by information parser (2) connected to said input configuration file; characterized in that the rendered version of the template is played on an embedded consumer electronic (CE) device and can be shared with other CE devices of the same class.
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention related to a method and system for downloading graphics
template and meta data for consumer electronic devices. The invention can be
applied to consumer electronic devices like digital television (DTV), camcorders,
mobile phones, etc.
BACKGROUND AND PRIOR ART
No known methods are found for downloading graphics template using meta
data and then configuring the system for consumer electronic devices. The
rendering engine of the present invention is powerful enough to deduce the
configuration settings and render the menu as per the configuration setting
without any external help from the service engineer along with providing real
time 3D graphics, virtual set, digital video effects and 3D composition.
OBJECT OF INVENTION
The man object of the present invention is to provide a method and system for
making and downloading graphics templates, which can then be used for
rendering information according to the meta data in the template. The rendered
version of this template can be played using a renderer, like a Samsung renderer
on the embedded device itself.
The templates can be shared across the CE (consumer electronic) devices with
the help of US B/WUSB ports provided.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
A system and method for making and down loading graphics template for
rendering meta data information in the template and playing rendered version of
the template on an embedded consumer electronic (CE) device (like DTV,
CD/DVD player, camcorders or any digital electronic device).
The templates can be shared across the devices with the help of USB/WUSB
ports provided.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWING
Figure 1 shows a sample template file used in the proposed invention.
Figure 2 shows the details inside the engine inside the CE device.
Figure 3 shows the architecture and flow of information
passing in the engine inside the CE device.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Structure of the invention is clearly shown in figure 1, and operation of the
invention is also illustrated in the same figure. Figure 2, shows how and
architecture of the engine inside CE device. The architecture and flow of
information parsing in the engine inside the CE (consumer electronic device) is
illustrated with the figure 3.
Input of 2D/3D model received by input configuration file 1, is coupled to
information parser 2 for reading 2D/3D information and constructing scene
graph. Parsed information from the information parser 2, is received in 2D/3D
graphics engine to render different function related to 2D/ 3D.
The following featured mostly constitute the detailed description of the
invention;
• The disclosed invention is for the development of an application hardware
device (s) capable of designing and rendering template for designing user
interfaces for consumer electronic devices like a Samsung renderer on the
embedded device itself. The configured user interfaces can be rendered in
a format of rendered version of this template and can be played only
using a renderer, like a Samsungs as described above.
• There would be an added capability of providing various 3D effects like
real time 3D graphics, digital video effects and 3D composition, all done in
the embedded device, without need for PC.
• The input is the template file downloaded to the embedded device as
template file in a pre-decided format, used in products of the particular
brand or a company as for example Samsung's. The configuration file will
contain meta data in the form of tags for all the objects present in the
menu, and the relationships between the various objects. The format of
file is a standard format understandable by products of that particular
brand or a company, as mentioned above.
• The generation of the template is also done on the CE device, wherein a
particular design scenario provided by the designer is configured as the
template, which can be easily shared to another device of the same class
of device (for example a template for a television can be rendered for
television, etc). Another scenario is to use the designer to make
environments for games, where-in the user can drag and drop the game -
environment primitives, and generate the template file. Example, in a
bricks game, it is so easy for the user to design the bricks patterns,
texture them, give effects at simple clicks.
• The invention will be able to provide real-time 3D graphic, virtual set,
digital video effects, 3D composition on the primitives arranged by simple
drag and drop facility drag objects (menus, items, games, video etc) in a
desired manner as per the template file.
• The template file will contain meta data in the form of tags for all the
objects present in the menu, and the relation ship between the various
objects. The format of the file is a standard format understandable by
products of the particular brand or a company, like Samsung's.
a. A particular scenario is to provide a designer to provide auto-menu
template, where-in the user can drag and drop the menu objects, and
generate the template.
b. Another scenario is to use the designer to make environments for
games, where-in the user can drag and drop the game-environment
primitives, and generate the template file. Example, in a bricks game,
it is so easy for the user to design the bricks patterns, texture them,
give effects at simple clicks.
• The template file can be shared at any location world-wide.
a. In the case of internet-based IPTV, downloaded from server.
b. In case of non-internet based television, this can be shared fast using
USB/WUSB.
• The system can handle multi-languages.
EFFECTS/ADVANTAGE (S) OF THE INVENTION
1. It provides Immense re-usability
2. Enhanced workflow
3. Fully network - can be updated and downloaded from any
