A Method And System For Providing Domain Specific Response To A User Query

Abstract: Disclosed herein is method and system for providing domain-specific response to user query. The user query is split into one or more sub-queries and domain of each of the sub-queries is determined based on domain-specific keywords present in each of the sub-queries. One or more responses to each of the sub-queries is retrieved from corresponding Domain-specific Query Handlers (DQHs). Finally, each of the one or more responses are collated for providing the domain-specific query to the user. In an embodiment, the DQHs are hierarchically arranged based on their importance and relevance to the user query. Further, the resources are allocated to each of the DQHs based on their hierarchy, thereby optimally distributing the resources among the DQHs. In an embodiment, the method of present disclosure ensures completeness/sufficiency in the response, before collating the one or more responses and providing the domain-specific response to the user. retrieving, by the response generation system (101), one or more responses (110) to each of the one or more sub-queries (106) from one or more Domain-specific Query Handlers (DQHs), associated with the response generation system (101), based on the domain, wherein the domain-specific query handlers are hierarchically arranged; and
collating, by the response generation system (101), the one or more responses (110) received from the one or more DQHs (109) for providing the domain-specific response (112) to the user query (104).

2. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the domain of each of the one or more sub-queries (106) is determined based on predefined domain identification rules (210), configured in the response generation system (101), when the one or more domain-specific keywords present in each of the one or more sub-queries (106) belong to plurality of domains.

3. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein each of the one or more DQHs (109) are hierarchically arranged based on a sorting weightage (301) assigned to each of the one or more DQHs (109).

4. The method as claimed in claim 3, wherein the sorting weightage (301) is assigned based on one or more predetermined sorting parameters (303) and predefined weightage associated with each of the one or more predetermined sorting parameters (303).

5. The method as claimed in claim 4, wherein the one or more predetermined sorting parameters (303) comprises availability of system resources, bandwidth of network connecting the response generation system (101) and each of the one or more DQHs (109), frequency of accessing one or more queries stored in each of the DQHs, and degree of confidentiality of the one or more queries.

6. The method as claimed in claim 1 further comprises determining sufficiency in each of the one or more responses (110) by mapping each of the one or more responses (110) with corresponding one or more sub-queries (106).

7. The method as claimed in claim 6, wherein each of the one or more responses (110) are collated upon determining the sufficiency in each of the one or more responses (110).

8. The method as claimed in claim 1 further comprises querying the one or more DQHs (109) for receiving one or more additional responses to the one or more sub-queries (106), when the one or more responses (110) are determined insufficient.

9. The method as claimed in claim 1 further comprises determining one or more forms in which the one or more DQHs (109) have to provide the one or more responses (110) based on the one or more predetermined sorting parameters (303) associated with the one or more DQHs (109).

10. The method as claimed in claim 9, wherein the one or more forms are at least one of audio, video, text, and summary.

11. A response generation system (101) for providing domain-specific response (112) to a user query (104), the response generation system (101) comprising:
a processor; and
a memory, communicatively coupled to the processor, wherein the memory stores processor-executable instructions, which on execution, cause the processor to:
split the user query (104) into one or more sub-queries (106);
determine domain of each of the one or more sub-queries (106) based on one or more domain-specific keywords present in each of the one or more sub-queries (106);
retrieve one or more responses (110) to each of the one or more sub-queries (106) from one or more Domain-specific Query Handlers (DQHs), associated with the response generation system (101), based on the domain, wherein the domain-specific query handlers are hierarchically arranged; and
collate the one or more responses (110) received from the one or more DQHs (109) to provide the domain-specific response (112) to the user query (104).

12. The response generation system (101) as claimed in claim 11, wherein the instructions cause the processor to determine domain of each of the one or more sub-queries (106) based on predefined domain identification rules (210) configured in the response generation system (101), when the one or more domain-specific keywords present in each of the one or more sub-queries (106) belong to plurality of domains.

13. The response generation system (101) as claimed in claim 11, wherein the instructions cause the processor to hierarchically arrange each of the one or more DQHs (109) based on a sorting weightage (301) assigned to each of the one or more DQHs (109).

14. The response generation system (101) as claimed in claim 13, wherein the instructions cause the processor to assign the sorting weightage (301) based on one or more predetermined sorting parameters (303) and predefined weightage associated with each of the one or more predetermined sorting parameters (303).

15. The response generation system (101) as claimed in claim 14, wherein the one or more predetermined sorting parameters (303) comprises availability of system resources, bandwidth of network connecting the response generation system (101) and each of the one or more DQHs (109), frequency of accessing one or more queries stored in each of the DQHs, and degree of confidentiality of the one or more queries.

16. The response generation system (101) as claimed in claim 11, wherein the instructions further cause the processor to determine sufficiency in each of the one or more responses (110) by mapping each of the one or more responses (110) with corresponding one or more sub-queries (106).
