The following specification particularly describes the invention.
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to wireless technology. More particularly, the invention relates to handover in wireless communication systems.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
In wireless systems, handover process is extremely essential. There are many ways by which a service provider facilitates handover for users in a network.
Some of the prior art technologies the handover is initiated by prior estimation. However, due to time varying nature and multipath fading of the channel in wireless systems, the performance of moving users or cell edge users is still not good.
In view of the above, there is a continuing need to improve the handover process in wireless system and it is required to provide system and/or a method that can overcome the shortcomings associated with prior arts.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The following description with reference to the accompanying drawings is provided to assist in a comprehensive understanding of exemplary embodiments of the invention as defined by the claims and their equivalents. It includes various specific details to assist in that understanding but these are to be regarded as merely exemplary. Accordingly, those of ordinary skill in the art will recognize that various changes and modifications of the embodiments described herein can be made without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention. It is to be understood that the singular forms “a,” “an,” and “the” include plural referents unless the context clearly dictates otherwise.
It is an object of the present invention to improve the system performance by better decision on when to take handover which will be taken after measuring distance between UE and base station through PRACH and DMRS signal in PUSCH transmissions.
In an embodiment the present invention initiates the handover by using timing advance estimated at the eNB.
Fig. 1 shows a flowchart for a handover process in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention.
The step by step working of the present invention is now explained.
The method includes receiving the PRACH signal from the UE. The base Station performs the receiving process to estimate the delay of the received signal. UE then starts sending the data in the uplink shared channel in the allocated resources. The base station schedules the uplink resources by using the measurement reports from the shared channel and SRS signal if any is been transmitted. The base station continuously receives the data and estimates the delay from the received DMRS signal. The base station adds the estimated delay along from the DMRS signal with estimated delay from the PRACH signal to estimate the distance of the UE from the base station. When the UE reaches towards cell edge, base station will check whether UE is getting required SNR. If UE is not getting good SNR, the base station will indicate the neighboring base station for handover. Then, if the neighboring base station has the free resource to admit the UE, it accepts the handover.
In an advantageous aspect, the method of the present invention improves the performance by dynamic resource allocation which is selected from the reports collected from the recent SRS.
