A Method For Increasing Silicon (Si) Composition In A Steel Substrate
Abstract: A method of increasing Silicon (Si) composition in a steel substrate is disclosed. The method comprises hot dipping (103), the steel substrate in a coating solution comprising hypoeutectic AlSi alloy composition for a predefined time period ranging from about 10 secs to 15 secs at a temperature range between 650°C to 655°C, for coating the steel substrate. Then drying (104), the coated steel substrate for a predetermined time period. The method further includes subjecting, the coated steel substrate to: a primary annealing process (105), at a temperature range of 900°C for about 8 to 10 mins or more; and a secondary annealing step (106), at a temperature range of 950°C for about 15 mins to 20 mins or more. The Silicon (Si) in the coating solution diffuses (107) into bulk of the steel substrate, thereby increasing the silicon (Si) composition in the steel substrate..
