Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of controlling cranking of an engine. The method comprises receiving 100 by a controller an input signal from T15 terminal. The controller receives 102 an input signal from a water in fuel sensor located in a fuel filter. The controller checks 104 if the input signal from WIF sensor corresponds to presence of water during T15 ON condition. The controller disconnects 106 during T50 ON condition the power supply to the engine when input signal from WIF sensor corresponds to presence of water.
Claims:We Claim:
1. A method of controlling cranking of an engine:
receiving (100),by a controller input signal from T15 terminal;
receiving (102), by said controller an input signal from water in fuel (WIF) sensor located in a fuel filter;
checking (104), by said controller if said input signal from WIF sensor corresponds to presence of water during T15 ON condition; and
disconnecting (106), by said controller, during T50 ON condition, power supply to said engine when said input signal from WIF sensor corresponds to presence of water.
2. The method of claim 1, wherein said controller is an integrated circuit.
, Description:Complete Specification:
The following specification describes and ascertains the nature of this invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.
Field of the invention
[0001]This invention relates to the field of controlling cranking of an engine.
Background of the invention
[0002]When a vehicles is switched ON (T15 ON) fuel from the fuel tank flows via a fuel filter and is injected into the engine cylinder once the engine is cranked (T50 ON). In case of accumulation of water in fuel filter, there is chance of water to flow along with the fuel and damage the components of the fuel injection system.
[0003] Prior art patent application KR100569432 (translated version) discloses invention of the car with electronic self-diagnosis logic related to the sensor in the fuel filter, the fuel filter the above electronic sensors embedded in the OP AMP is the initial use of the characteristics of the power (KEY ON) causes the output signal for a period of time and use the cluster, fuel moisture content by allowing you to check, such as warnings, Al-Coordinator of the slip and stable power supply from the battery regardless of possible causes, and the flickering sensor wire or wiring in the U.S. into the relevant warning light illuminates as soon as the self-inspection to determine abnormalities, as well as On the inside of the warning lights check the cluster configuration can be ruled out for his self-diagnosis sensor for automotive electronic fuel filter with the logic
Brief description of the accompanying drawing
[0004] Different modes of the invention are disclosed in detail in the description and illustrated in the accompanying drawing:
[0005] FIG. 1 illustrates a method of controlling cranking of an engine.
Detailed description of the embodiments
[0006] FIG. 1 illustrates a method of controlling cranking of an engine. The method comprises receiving, by a controller an input signal from T15 terminal. Receiving (102), by the controller an input signal from water in fuel sensor located in the fuel filter, checking (104), by the controller if the signal corresponds to presence of water during T15 ON condition, and disconnecting (106), by the controller, during T50 ON condition, power supply to the engine when the signal corresponds to presence of water. In an embodiment the controller may by an integrated circuit.
[0007] The working of the above mentioned method will be explained in further detail. Initially, the controller receives 100 a input signal from the T15 terminal. The controller also receives 102 an input signal from the water in fuel sensor that is located in the fuel filter. In case the controller does not receive the input signal from the sensor, then it is an indication that the sensor is faulty. This indication may be displayed in the form of a warning on the dashboard of a vehicle. Based upon the input signal that is received from the water in fuel sensor, the controller checks 104 if the signal corresponds to the presence of water. The presence of water in the water in fuel sensor may be indicated by voltage of a magnitude as defined during calibration of water in fuel (WIF) sensor, this voltage is received in the form of an input signal from the WIF sensor. In case water is present the controller disconnects during T50 ON condition, power supply to the engine. The power supply to engine is restored upon draining of water from the fuel filter. Once the water is drained the input signal that is received from the water in fuel sensor will be different from the input signal that is received by the controller due to presence of water. Hence the power to engine is supplied during T50 ON condition. By using the above mentioned method it is now possible prevent damage to the components of fuel injection system and engine due to the presence of water in the WIF sensor.
[0008] ‘Adapted’ or ‘arranged’, in the context of the instant disclosure, refers to the technical capability or the technical capacity of a component, in relation to which the term ‘adapted’ or ‘arranged’ is used, to carry out or executed a specified action or actions, upon the requirement of the specified action or actions to be carried out or executed. Moreover, the usage of the term ‘adapted’ or ‘arranged’ here, is in reference with the normal technical capability or technical capacity of the component, imparted by the design or the structure or the composition of the component, and not in reference with any special or extraneous capability or capacity, beyond the scope of the normal technical capability or technical capacity. Therefore there is a need to address this problem.
[0009]It should be understood that embodiments explained in the description above are only illustrative and do not limit the scope of this invention in terms of the type of diesel particulate filter used. Many such embodiments and other modifications and changes in the embodiment explained in the description are envisaged. The scope of the invention is only limited by the scope of the claims.
