A Method Of Joining Low Relaxation Pre Stressed Concrete [Lrpc] Wire Rods
Abstract: Present disclosure discloses a method of joining low relaxation pre-stressed concrete (LRPC) wire rods (1). The method includes welding ends of the LRPC wire rods (1) by flash butt welding. The welded LRPC wire rods (1) are subjected to annealing which includes heating up a welded portion to a first predefined temperature at a first predetermined rate, and maintaining the first predefined temperature for a first predefined time. Further, the annealing includes rapidly cooling the welded portion, from the first predefined temperature to a second predefined temperature at a second predetermined rate, and maintaining at the second predefined temperature for a second predefined time. The welded portion then undergoes second-stage cooling from the second predefined temperature to an ambient temperature at a third predetermined rate. The flash butt welding and the annealing process prevents formation of decarburization zone and exhibits uniform hardness and high tensile property at the welded portion.
