A Method Of Stress Relaxation Cracking Test For Nickel Based Alloy

Abstract: The subject matter discloses a method for conducting stress relaxation cracking test of nickel based alloy. The method comprising subjecting the nickel based alloy to peak temperature to simulate heat affected zone. Subjecting, using a thermo- mechanical simulator, the nickel based alloy to stress relieving temperature. Increasing, using the thermo- mechanical simulator, the stress relieving temperature at a rate of 100°C per minute. Subjecting, using the thermo- mechanical simulator, the nickel based alloy to L-strain, wherein the L-strain applied is 80% of the yield strain of the nickel based alloy. Maintaining the stress relieving temperature and the L-strain on the nickel based alloy for a predetermined period. Fracturing the test specimen after the predetermined period.
