, Claims:FIELD OF INVENTION
[0001] Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a field of food supplement and more particularly to a method to produce a food supplement for regulating blood sugar level.
BACKGROUND
[0002] Blood sugar level needs to be regulated to prevent health problems, particularly for individuals with diabetes. The health problems include hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia. The hyperglycemia causes heart disease, kidney damage, nerve damage and vision problems. The hypoglycemia causes shakiness, dizziness, confusion, and, in severe cases, loss of consciousness. Dietary fibers have multi-systemic health benefits, including, improvement in glycemic control, reduction in glucose spikes, decrease in hyperinsulinemia, improvement in plasma lipid concentrations and weight management in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients.
[0003] The fibrous foods include brown rice, oats, nuts, seeds, whole wheat, legumes and the like. However, poor solubility of the fibers in water slows absorption of nutrients and bioactive compounds present in fiber rich foods to the gastrointestinal tract, thereby rendering the fibrous foods inefficient in regulating the blood sugar levels. Also, shelf life of the fibrous foods is limited since the fibrous foods are susceptible to variations in temperature and potential of hydrogen (pH) values. Further, sensory attributes of the fibrous foods such as flavor, appearance, viscosity and odor may adversely affect consumer appeal.
[0004] Hence, there is a need for an improved method to produce a food supplement for regulating blood sugar level to address the aforementioned issue(s).
OBJECTIVE OF THE INVENTION
[0005] An objective of the invention is to provide a method to produce a food supplement which is fiber rich and completely soluble in water for regulating blood sugar level.
