Abstract: The present disclosure provides a mobility device (100) for moving a person to and from a seated position. The mobility device (100) comprises a seat (2), an adjustable handle (4) and a seat adjusting mechanism (6). The adjustable handle (4) is provided with a first wireless joystick pad (402) for raising, lowering and tilting the seat (2) and for controlling the motion of the device. The seat adjusting mechanism (6) is configured to be attached with said seat (2) and connect with said adjustable handle (4) configured with the first wireless joystick pad (402) to raise, lower and tilt the seat (2). The seat adjusting mechanism (6) comprises a plurality of crossed links (602) pivotally attached with each other, to form the seat adjusting/collapsing mechanism (6) and, an actuating mechanism (604) mounted on a base (8) of the mobility device (100) and linked with the plurality of crossed links (602). The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.

A MOBILITY DEVICE
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present disclosure relates to a mobility device for moving a person to and from a seated position. Further, the present disclosure discloses a construction and mechanism of the mobility device.
BACKGROUND OF THE PRESENT DISCLOSURE
The information in this section merely provides background information related to the present disclosure;
Generally, persons with weak knees, old age or physical disabilities face difficulty in getting up from their seat and, also need assistance from friends or family to get up and sit on their seat as well as for everyday mobility.
Numerous wheelchairs are available to be used by these people to get an assistance in mobility only while transfer is done using human assistance. In addition, many other disadvantages are associated with the use of the existing wheelchairs. People with partial disabilities who are not totally dependent will have to be in a sitting position always making them feel dependent. The existing wheelchairs also make it difficult to have conversations with standing people, and to carry out small tasks that require intermittent standing. Prolonged sitting and disuse of leg muscles may cause their wasting and aggravate mild disabilities.
Such a device is disclosed in US5878450A. In this device, the possible movement of user is much more natural and stimulates the user concerned to cooperate in being raised, so that the muscle function of user is maintained. Further, the construction of this device offers the possibility of following a different path when moving from the standing position into the seated position. This provides a provision to the user

to be moved initially from the standing position horizontally to above the seat and then be moved vertically. Another device is disclosed in EP2077101A2, for allowing the disabled person to achieve verticalization in an autonomous manner, to raise a sitting person and assist in their mobility in sitting and standing position. The device can be used in outdoor environment well and, overcomes small architectural barriers, such as small steps or slight slopes.
However, some problems are associated with the use of above-mentioned devices like, users who wear cumbersome or full-length attires like gowns, saris or lungis cannot use these devices. Further, it becomes difficult to sit or get up from the seat of these devices without any additional assistance of other persons. Moreover, a person using these devices cannot perform any task in a semi-standing position.
Accordingly, there is an immense need to develop a mobility device to overcome the existing mechanism.
SUMMARY OF THE PRESENT DISCLOSURE
The present disclosure relates to a mobility device for moving a person to and from a seated position. The mobility device comprises a seat, an adjustable handle and a seat adjusting mechanism. The adjustable handle is provided with a first wireless joystick pad and a controller, for raising, lowering and tilting the seat. The seat adjusting mechanism is configured to attach with said seat and connect with said adjustable handle to raise, lower and tilt the seat. The seat adjusting mechanism comprises a plurality of crossed links pivotally attached with each other, to form the seat adjusting/collapsing mechanism and, an actuating mechanism is mounted on a base of the mobility device and with the plurality of crossed links.
In an embodiment, the plurality of crossed links comprises a link with a first slot for controlling the tilting motion of the seat.

In an embodiment, the base comprises a second slot for controlling the raising and lowering of the seat.
In an embodiment, the plurality of crossed links is attached together by using fasteners.
In an embodiment, said adjustable handle is attached on a support member having plurality of holes for adjusting the up and down positions of the adjustable handle.
In an embodiment, the support member is mounted on a multi-angle holder placed on the base.
In an embodiment, the multi-angle holder mounted with the base using mechanical arrangements and allows forward and reverse movements of the support member and the adjustable handle.
In an embodiment, the support member comprises at least one adjustable padded support for supporting the legs of the seated person.
In an embodiment, the seat comprises a seating portion attached with the seat adjusting mechanism and a collapsible backrest.
In an embodiment, the first wireless joystick pad comprises at least one sensor for controlling the actuating mechanisms and motion of the mobility device.
In an embodiment, the collapsible backrest comprises two rotatable arm rests with a second wireless joystick pad for operating the mobility device.
In an embodiment, the collapsible backrest and two rotatable arm rests are configured for collapsing the seat.

In an embodiment, the second wireless joystick pad comprises at least one sensor for controlling the actuating mechanisms and motion of the mobility device.
In an embodiment, one or more casters and at least one motor wheel are attached with said base for facilitating the motion to the mobility device.
In an embodiment, the actuating mechanism comprises a cylinder linked with the plurality of crossed links.
In an embodiment, a battery is configured for driving the mobility device.
In an embodiment, at least one cover is configured for covering the seat adjusting mechanism, to ensure the safety of the person.
In an embodiment, the controller is connected with the actuating mechanism to prevent the operation of actuating mechanism during motion of the mobility device for enhancing the stability and safety of the mobility device.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT DISCLOSURE
While the disclosure is subject to various modifications and alternative forms, specific embodiment thereof has been shown by way of example in the figures and will be described below. It should be understood, however that it is not intended to limit the disclosure to the particular forms disclosed, but on the contrary, the disclosure is to cover all modifications, equivalents, and alternatives falling within the scope of the disclosure.
It is to be noted that a person skilled in the art can be motivated from the present disclosure and can perform various modifications. However, such modifications should be construed within the scope of the disclosure.
Accordingly, the drawings are showing only those specific details that are pertinent to understanding the embodiments of the present disclosure so as not to obscure the disclosure with details that will be readily apparent to those of ordinary skill in the art having benefit of the description herein.
The terms “comprises”, “comprising”, or any other variations thereof, are intended to cover a non-exclusive inclusion, such that an assembly, setup, system, device that comprises a list of components does not include only those components but

may include other components not expressly listed or inherent to such system or device or setup. In other words, one or more elements in the system or apparatus or device proceeded by “comprises a” does not, without more constraints, preclude the existence of other elements or additional elements in the assembly or system or apparatus. The following paragraphs explain present disclosure.
The present disclosure relates to a mobility device for moving a person to and from a seated position. The mobility device provides a provision to the seated user and/or making a user able to raise, lower and tilt the seat in sitting, standing, leaning or semi-standing position. The user can comfortably board from a seating portion outside the device unassisted and wearing any routine attire including but not limiting to full length attires like saris, lungis, kimonos, gowns and others. The mobility device comprises a seat, an adjustable handle and a seat adjusting mechanism. The adjustable handle is provided with a first wireless joystick pad and a controller, for raising, lowering and tilting the seat. The seat adjusting mechanism is configured to attach with said seat and connect with said adjustable handle to raise, lower and tilt the seat. The seat adjusting mechanism comprises a plurality of crossed links pivotally attached with each other, to form the seat adjusting/collapsing mechanism and, an actuating mechanism is mounted on a base of the mobility device and with the plurality of crossed links.
Accordingly, the present disclosure is described with reference to the figures and specific embodiments; this description is not meant to be constructed in a limiting sense. In the figures, the same element or elements which have same functions are indicated by the same reference signs.
Referring to Figures 1-3, the mobility device (100) comprises a seat (2), an adjustable handle (4), a seat adjusting mechanism (6) and a base (8). The seat adjusting mechanism (6) is attached with said seat (2). The base (8) is provided to accommodate the seat adjusting mechanism (6) and the adjustable handle (4)

configured with a first wireless joystick pad (402) to raise, lower and tilt the seat adjusting mechanism (6).
Referring to figures 1-2, the seat is mounted on the seat adjusting mechanism (6). The seat comprises a seating portion (202) attached with the seat adjusting mechanism (6) and a collapsible backrest (204). The seating portion (202) and collapsible backrest (204) are joined with a pivot connection. The collapsible backrest (204) provides a support to the back of the user while sitting on the seating portion (202). The collapsible backrest (204) is adapted to be folded on the seating portion (202) to form a compact system, as shown in the figure 4. A small manual effort is required to fold the collapsible backrest (204). The collapsible backrest (204) comprises two rotatable armrests (206). Two rotatable arm rests (206) are to be rotated in horizontal and vertical direction. Two rotatable arm rests (206) may rotate downward along with the folded collapsible backrest (204) to form a compact system, as figure 4. One of the rotatable arm rests (206) comprises a second wireless joystick pad (208) for controlling the movement of the motor and the actuating mechanism (604) through a sensor or RF or Bluetooth module. In an embodiment, the seating portion (202) and collapsible backrest (204) are with a polymetric material to provide a usage comfort. The seat may be made by suitable metallic material.
The seat adjusting mechanism (6) is adapted to attach with said seat (2) and placed on the base (8). The seat adjusting mechanism (6) comprises a plurality of crossed links (602) pivotally attached with each other to form the seat adjusting/collapsing mechanism (6) and an actuating mechanism (604). The plurality of crossed links (602) are linked to form a scissor lift. The one end of seat adjusting mechanism (6) is attached with the seating portion (202) of the seat (2) and another end is linked in the second slot (802) provide on the base (8). The actuating means (604) is mounted on a base (8) of the mobility device (100) and with the plurality of crossed links (602). The plurality of crossed links (602) comprises a link (6022) with a first slot (6024) for controlling the tilting motion of the seat (2), as shown figure 7. The

first slot (6024) provided on link (6022), eliminates the need for a separate actuator for tilting. The second slot (802) is provided on the base (8) for controlling the raising and lowering of the seat (2). The actuating mechanism (604) is placed on the base (8). The actuating mechanism (604) comprises a cylinder (606) linked with the plurality of crossed links (602). The cylinder (606) is configured to provide a gradual motion to the seat adjusting mechanism (6) to be raised and lowered. This gradual motion facilitates a smooth operation of seat adjusting mechanism (6) and prevents sudden jerks during lowering and raising of the seat adjusting mechanism (6). The plurality of crossed links (602) is attached together by using fasteners. The actuating mechanism (604) may be a hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical or electromechanical mechanism. In an embodiment, the actuating mechanism (604) is a linear actuator. The plurality of crossed links (602) may have cuboidal or cylindrical shape. In an embodiment, the seat adjusting mechanism (6) can be covered by at least one cover to ensure the safety of the person. These covers ensure the safety of users who wear cumbersome or full-length attires like gowns, saris or lungis.
Referring to the figure 4-5, which illustrates a lower position of the seat adjusting mechanism (6). This permits the user to easily sit on the seating portion (202). The movement of the seat adjusting mechanism (6) can be controlled with first and/or second wireless joystick pads. The seat adjusting mechanism (6) can also be positioned in an intermediate sitting position as shown in figure 6.
The seat adjusting mechanism (6) can also be raised to an extreme position such that it enables the user to perform any task in semi-standing position. Figures 10 & 11 illustrate that the said mechanism also provides assistance to the user for standing.
Referring to figures 1, 2, 12 and13, the adjustable handle comprises the first wireless joystick pad (402) and a controller, for raising, lowering and tilting the seat (2). The adjustable handle (4) is attached on a support member (10) having plurality

of holes (1002) for adjusting the up and down positions of the adjustable handle (4). The support member (10) is mounted on a multi-angle holder (12) placed on the base (8). In an embodiment as shown, the support member (10) is a telescopic support. In an another embodiment, the support member (10) may have a cylindrical or cuboidal shape. The multi-angle holder (12) is mounted with the base (8) using mechanical arrangements and allows forward and reverse movements of the support member (10) and the adjustable handle (4). The reverse movement of the multi-angle holder (12) is shown in figure 13. Mechanical arrangements may be welding joints or fasteners like screws, bolts and rivets etc. The support member (10) comprises at least one adjustable padded support (1004) that can be raised or lowered for supporting the legs of the seated person. The adjustable padded support (1004) can also be folded to form a compact system as shown in figures 4-8. Figure 9 illustrates the useable position of the adjustable padded support (1004). The second wireless joystick pad (208) comprises at least one sensor for controlling the actuating mechanisms (604) and motion of the mobility device (100). In an embodiment, the second wireless joystick pad (208) may have a sensor, RF or a Bluetooth module for controlling the actuating mechanisms (604) and motion of the mobility device.
Referring to figure 6, one or more casters (14) and at least one motor wheel (16) are attached with said base (8) for facilitating the motion of the mobility device (100). In an embodiment, two casters and two motor wheels, are attached to the base (8). In another embodiment as shown, motor wheels are brushless DC motor wheels. The mobility device (100) comprises a battery configured for driving the mobility device (100). The base (8) may be made of suitable metallic material.
In an embodiment, the controller is connected with the actuating mechanism (604) to prevent the operation of actuating mechanism (604) during motion of the mobility device (100) for enhancing the stability and safety of the mobility device (100).

Referring to figure 10-11, the seat (2) is in its highest raised position. Here, the angle of a person’s lower leg to hind leg is greater than 120 degrees that reduces the effort of the user, required for standing up. In an embodiment, the motion of mobility device (100) and seat adjusting mechanism (6) is controlled with the usage of single actuating mechanism (604) placed on the base (8). The existing devices used two sets of actuators one at the bottom and the other at the top. Accordingly, the mobility device (100) eliminates the use of additional actuators that reduces the complexity of the device. The collapsible backrest (204), two arm rests (206), support member (10) and adjustable padded support (1004) can be folded in manner that that the entire device can be collapsed into smaller dimensions to save storage space or during transport.
Accordingly, the present disclosure provides a mobility device that allows the user to move in sitting, semi-standing or standing position, thereby, avoiding muscle wasting due to being seated for a long time. This device improves the quality of life of the user as well as makes them independent. The mobility device can be used in a standing, semi-standing or leaning position. Tasks to be performed on higher platforms including but not limiting to kitchen platform can also be performed comfortably which were not possible in a wheelchair. The mobility device enables mounted users to have conversations from a higher level than a normal wheelchair while talking to standing individuals, which will have a positive psychological impact on the users and increase the sense of independence in them. This mobility device has a provision to be folded in a compact space.

We Claim:
1. A mobility device (100) for moving a person to and from a seated position, the
mobility device (100) comprising;
a seat (2);
an adjustable handle (4) provided with a first wireless joystick pad (402) and a controller, for raising, lowering and tilting the seat (2);
a seat adjusting mechanism (6) configured to attach with said seat (2) and connect with said adjustable handle (4) configured with the first wireless joystick pad (402) to raise, lower and tilt the seat (2), the seat adjusting mechanism (6) comprises:
a plurality of crossed links (602) pivotally attached with each other,
to form the seat adjusting/collapsing mechanism (6); and
an actuating mechanism (604) mounted on a base (8) of the mobility
device (100) and with the plurality of crossed links (602).
2. The mobility device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the plurality of crossed links (602) comprises a link (6022) with a first slot (6024) for controlling the tilting motion of the seat (2).
3. The mobility device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the base comprises a second slot (802) for controlling the raising and lowering of the seat (2).
4. The mobility device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the plurality of crossed links (602) is attached together by using fasteners.
5. The mobility device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said adjustable handle (4) is attached on a support member (10) having plurality of holes (1002) for adjusting the up and down positions of the adjustable handle (4).

6. The mobility device (100) as claimed in claim 5, wherein the support member (10) is mounted on a multi-angle holder (12) placed on the base (8).
7. The mobility device (100) as claimed in claims 5 and 6, wherein the multi-angle holder (12) is mounted on the base (8) using mechanical arrangements and that allow forward and reverse movements of the support member (10) and the adjustable handle (4).
8. The mobility device (100) as claimed in claim 5, wherein support member (10) comprises at least one adjustable padded support (1004) for supporting the legs of the seated person.
9. The mobility device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the seat (2) comprises a seating portion (202) attached with the seat adjusting mechanism (6) and a collapsible backrest (204).

10. The mobility device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein first wireless joystick pad (402) comprises at least one sensor for controlling the actuating mechanisms (604) and motion of the mobility device (100).
11. The mobility device (100) as claimed in claim 9, wherein the collapsible backrest (204) comprises two rotatable arm rests (206) with a second wireless joystick pad (208) for operating the mobility device (100).
12. The mobility device (100) as claimed in claims 9 and 11, wherein collapsible backrest (204) and two rotatable arm rests (206) are configured for collapsing the seat (2).
13. The mobility device (100) as claimed in claim 11, wherein the second wireless joystick pad (208) comprises at least one sensor for controlling the actuating mechanisms (604) and motion of the mobility device (100).

14. The mobility device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein one or more casters (14) and at least one motor wheel (16) are attached with said base (8) for facilitating the motion to the mobility device (100).
15. The mobility device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the actuating mechanism (604) comprises a cylinder (606) linked with the plurality of crossed links (602).
16. The mobility device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein a battery is configured for driving and raising the mobility device (100).
17. The mobility device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein at least one cover is configured for covering the seat adjusting mechanism (6), to ensure the safety of the person.
18. The mobility device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the controller is connected with the actuating mechanism (604) to prevent the operation of actuating mechanism (604) during motion of the mobility device (100) for enhancing the stability and safety of the mobility device (100).
