The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.

Field of Invention
This invention generally relates to mounting clamps for varying size and shape of structural members and in particular to structural members of telecommunication towers having different cross sectional shape and size.
Background of the Invention
Telecommunication towers are essentially deployed to provide wireless communication services to users of relevant electronic gadgets. Telecommunication tower structures are designed to suit the stability in a geographical location and technical feasibility. Therefore the structural member changes from one tower to another tower due to different types of cross section (circular, angular etc.). If a system comprising of a single or multiple component needs to be mounted on the tower, one has to know the type and cross sectional size of structural component of the tower to clamp the system within the tower. A clamp designed for a particular structural component will suit that component only and one has to re-design or select the clamp if the tower/structural member changes. At least two clamps are required to overcome the limitation of a clamp for circular structures and another for angular structures. Again if the cross section dimensions of structural component changes, many different mounting clamps matching appropriate size and shape are required. This increases the cost. Further to mount a system on a tower a specially designed clamp will not be feasible as structural member from one tower to other changes. Adding to this, before selecting a clamp, accurate specifications of the structural components of the tower is needed as priority. To overcome these problems multiple clamps may be supplied along with the system to be mounted for universal applications which will be a cumbersome solution. Therefore there is a need for mounting clamp capable of securing a structural member of varying size and shape.

The flat surface opposite to the customized mating recesses 22 may also act as mating portions with bottom clamp part depending on the structure of the structural member to be secured. The top clamp part further comprises of an equally spaced recess 21 on either side of the length portion (one of the recess shown in figure 3). A small opening 25 is provided on the sides of the upper and lower sides in the length portion enabling it to receive a threaded bolt, stem, stopper pin etc., wherein, the preferred embodiment is a threaded bolt. The customized recess portion 22 is open ended with fine tooth profiles 23 adapted to grip any structural member.
Figure 3 depicts the top clamp part in an assembling sequence with the top pivot clamp 30. The top pivot clamp 30 is a rectangular profile structure smaller in size to that of the top clamp part 20, having an opening 31 in the middle of its rectangular length portion sufficient to allow passage of elongated member 15 of the bottom clamp part 10. The breadth portion of the top pivot clamp 30 comprises of an elongated semi-circled portion on its upper and lower sides wherein, an opening 32 is provided to receive a threaded stem 28 so as to attach one side of the top clamp part 20 through the openings 25. The threaded stem 28 may be fastened to the nut 26 and a washer 27 such that the top pivot clamp and the top clamp part 20 are fastened.
The entire assembly sequence of the bottom clamp part 10, top clamp part 20 and the top pivot clamp 30 is depicted in figure 4. One end 24 of the top clamp part 20 is assembled with the bottom clamp part 10 enabled by top pivot clamp 30 through the opening 31(as shown in figure 3) wherein, the elongated member 15 of the bottom clamp part 10 passes through the opening 31. This provides for the movement of the top clamp part 20 relative to bottom clamp part 10 within the elongated member 15 such that the distance between the top clamp part 20 and the bottom clamp part 10 can be adjusted relative to bottom clamp part 10 to a desired level based on the size of structural member to be secured. The permanently fastened elongated members 15 on the bottom clamp part 10 receives the top clamp part 20 through the recesses 21 at either side of top clamp part 20 and engaging the elongated members 15 by any fastening means. However the preferred embodiments include nuts 41 and washers 42, 43 and 44 as fastening means. The preferred embodiments provide for threaded portion on the elongated members 15 such that necessary clamping pressure may be applied by tightening the nuts 41 so as to secure firmly any structural member in between bottom clamp part 10 and top clamp part 20, depending on the size dimensions of the structural member. Nuts 16 depicted are means to secure the bottom clamp part 10 to a system 60 which needs to be clamped to a telecommunication tower (as shown in figure 6).
