FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to a mounting for front seat belt retractor.
PRIOR ART
In the known art, a large hole is provided in the panel, center pillar inner so as to maintain a clearance of 15 mm from the retractor as shown in fig.l.
In case of the improved conventional model, the flat area around the hole for mounting the ELR is provided by means of a lancing feature as shown in the figure 2. However, this provision makes the overall structure of the B Pillar weak from the side impact point of view and requires extra reinforcement in the lower area of the B Pillar.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
An object of the present invention is to provide a mounting for front seat belt retractor which overcomes disadvantages associated with the known art.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a mounting for front seat belt retractor which is lighter and cost effective.
Further object of the present invention is to provide a mounting for front seat belt retractor which is simple in construction and efficient.

Still another object of the present invention is to provide a mounting for front seat belt retractor in Center Pillar which does not weaken the body structure in case of vehicle crash requirements.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
According to this invention, there is provided a mounting for front seat belt retractor comprising of an improved panel center pillar inner wherein distance from the seat belt retractor is atleast 15mm without a hole and a flat area in said panel is provided for mounting ELR.

According to this invention, there is provided a mounting for front seat belt retractor comprising of an improved panel center pillar inner designed in such a manner that, distance from the seat belt retractor is
15 mm without a hole, making B Pillar stronger wherein flat area in said

panel is provided for mounting ELR, but without the requirement for lancing.
In the known models, the flat area is provided as a lancing feature, whereas in the present invention the hole is provided on an embossed portion (as shown in the figure) which has atleast 10mm flat area around it. The embossed portion is positioned towards the driver-seat.
The surfaces of the Panel, Ctr Pillar Inner are so provided that minimum 15 mm distance from the retractor is maintained wherein the surfaces of the retractor are offset by 15mm and accordingly,the surfaces of the inner panel are provided.
Advantageous features of the invention over prior art
1. Improved performance of the vehicle in side crash due to enhanced robustness of the B Pillar.
2. Lighter and Cost Effective construction of the B Pillar as it eliminates the need for reinforcement in the retractor mounting area.
3. Enhanced formability of the part.
4. Less Complex die structure.
It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications, adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within the scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under the following claims:-

WE CLAIM;
1. A mounting for front seat belt retractor comprising of an improved panel center pillar inner wherein distance from the seat belt retractor is atleast 15mm without a hole and a flat area in said panel is provided for mounting ELR.
2. A mounting for front seat belt retractor as claimed in claim 1, comprising of a hole on an embossed portion, which has atleast 10 mm flat area therearound.
3. A mounting for front seat belt retractor as claimed in claim 2, wherein the embossed portion is positioned towards the driver seat.
4. A mounting for front seat belt retractor as claimed in any of the preceding claims, wherein surfaces of the retractor are offset by atleast 15mm and accordingly, the surfaces of the inner panel are provided.
5. A mounting for front seat belt retractor substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
