This invention relates to a mounting for the soft-top of a motor vehicle, more particularly, though not exclusively, an autorickshaw.
Conventionally, the canvas soft-top of a motor vehicle, such as, an autorickshaw, which is used as a hood for protection against the sun and rain, is mounted on a frame, the canvas being bolted to the cabin of the vehicle, at the rear, and taounted on the windshield, at the front.
The portion of the canvas at the front is uauaUy nailed on wood, which ia bolted to the windshield assembly of the vehicle. The side portions of the canvas, on the left hand and right hand sides of the vehicle, are also nailed on wood bolted to side brackets, which are weJded to the windshield assembly.
However, the conventionai mounting described above is subject to several drawbacks. Such mounting does not conform to acceptable standards of aesthetics. It absorbs moisture quickly and gets distorted. Its deterioration is rapid due to exposure to the enviromnenL It does not cotae in proper sizes and shapes; and tolerance values are high.

This invention therefore proposes to do away with, or at least, substantially minimize, the above drawbacks.
The mounting for the soft-top of a motor vehicle, according to this invention, comprises a plastic block provided on either side of the windshield for fastening the soft-top thereto; inserts provided on either aide of the windshield for being bolted to corresponding brackets on the said sides, the soft-top being fastened to the said inserts.
This invention wiW now be deacxibed with reference to Figs. 1 and 2 of the accompanying drawings, which iHustrate, by way of example^ and not by way of Jimitation one of possible embodiments of the Jijounting proposed herein.
The mounting proposed herein will be seen to have plastic blocks B bolted to the windshield assembly W on either side thereof. The soft-top S is mounted on the blocks with the help of nails N. Two inserts J provided on either side of the windshJeJd W are boJted to the windshield side brackets E. The soft-top S ia fastened to the said inserts.

The proposed mounting assembly will be painted with the desired colour, when required.
The mounting aasembly piroposed ia aesthetically pleasing., provides a good fit and finish and allows repeated nathng of the soft-top that may be necessitated by repair work carried out thereon.
It will he appreciated that various other embodiments are possible without departing from the scope and ambit of this invention.

We Claim:
1. A mounting £or the soft-top of a motor vehicle
comprising a plastic block provided on either side
of the windshield for fastening the soft-top thereto;
inserts provided on either side of the windshield
for being bolted to corresponding brackets on the
said sides, the soft-top being fastened to the said
inserts.
2. A mounting as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the said
block is made of high-density polyethylene.
