PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner
in which it is to be performed.
FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to a mounting structure for mounting steering tank and emergency steering system motor with pump assembly support structures and more particularly to a new manner of mounting static & dynamic parts on a single formed sheet metal bracket.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
Various bracket constructions have been employed to support the steering tank & ESS motor with pump assembly of the vehicle at a predetermined position on the vehicle chassis or within the vehicle body to permit easy refilling of steering oil and easy serviceability. Generally, these brackets are secured to the support structure forward of the vehicle body or chassis such as backside of the cab or on the long member or on the cross member of frame. These brackets are casted or fabricated.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION
Object of the invention is to provide a rigid support to steering tanks & ESS motor with pump assembly, which is connected to the steering lines of the vehicle with optimized weight.
According to present invention a steering tank & ESS motor with pump support structure for a vehicle comprising, a 'L' shaped support bracket having two ends, upper end with a flange and side portion, On the said upper portion of the support bracket, two steering tanks are mounted. On the said flange of said upper portion the ESS motor and pump assembly is mounted. Said side portion of the support bracket, is mounted on the long member of the frame.
Accordingly, the invention relates to a mounting structure for mounting steering tank and emergency steering system in a vehicle comprising an L-shaped body one side of
which is connected to the long member of a vehicle, said structure having at least three mounting faces, the first mounting face being relatively larger than the other two, said first mounting face having upward flange on its end, said second mounting face being a flange forming face of said structure on which emergency steering system is connected said structure having fastening means to mount the steering tanks thereon.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Figure 1 shows the exploded view of the ESS bracket & steering oil tanks & ESS
motor with pump assembly.
Figure 2 shows the front view of the ESS bracket.
Figure 3 shows the top view of the ESS bracket.
Figure 4 shows the isometric view of the ESS bracket.
Figure 5 shows the cross sectional view of the ESS bracket at A-A
Figure 6 shows the cross sectional view of the ESS bracket flange at B-B
DEATILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Referring now to the drawings wherein the showings are for the purpose of illustrating a preferred embodiment of the invention only, and not for the purpose of limiting the same.
Referring to the figures, the steering tanks and ESS support structure comprises of a steering tank support bracket (1), steering tanks (2) & (3) and ESS motor and pump assembly (4). The support bracket (1) having three mounting faces (a, b & c), the face (c) is mounted on the long member (5) of the vehicle and the steering tanks (2) & (3) connects to the face (a) by bolts. The support bracket (1) is having of 'L' shape with the first mounting face (a) having larger mounting area compared to the second and third mounting face (b) & (c) respectively. The end of the top face (a) is provided with flange (F) to connect the ESS motor and pump assembly (4) which form face 'b' of
3
the supporting structure. Referring to figure 2 and figure 3, the cross section area of the first and third mounting face (a) & (c) of the 'L' shaped support bracket (1) as shown in figure 5. The second face (b) portion of the support bracket is a flange with a flat face. Said first face (a) and second face (b) is having mounting holes to connect the steering tanks (2) & (3) and the ESS motor and pump assembly (4) respectively and bolted at the said third face (c) to the long member (5). The support bracket is made of sheet metal. Various fasteners (6-13) are used to connect the steering tanks and ESS motor to the support structure and also connecting the support structure to the long member of the vehicle. Referring to the figure 5, it shows the cross sectional view at A-A. The face 'a 'and 'c' provided with channeled depressions to improve the stiffness. The flange F (face b) having protrusion with a varying cross sectional shape as shown in figure 6.
ADVANTAGES
Steering tanks and ESS motor and pump asm support is taken with steel formed bracket of 'L' shaped cross section with open flange. This peculiar shape of bracket solves packaging problems on the frame. Cross section of bracket minimizes weight and reduces the manufacturing operations and cost. This enables the rigid mounting of static & dynamic parts on a single formed sheet metal bracket.
The foregoing description is a specific embodiment of the present invention. It should be appreciated that this embodiment is described for purpose of illustration only, and that numerous alterations and modifications may be practiced by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. It is intended that all such modifications and alterations be included insofar as they come within the scope of the invention as claimed or the equivalents thereof.
