COMPLETE SPECIFICATION
( Section 10 )
A NEW SYSTEM, MILEAGE MAXIMIZER FOR USE IN VARIOMATIC DRIVEN TWO OR MORE WHEELED AUTOMOBILES FOR OPTIMUM FUEL
ECONOMY "
KINETIC MOTOR COMPANY LIMITED,
Neeta Towers,
Mumbai-Pune Road, Dapodi,
PUNE - 411 012, Maharastra State, India
An Indian Company registered under the
provisions of the Companies Act, 1956
The following specification particularly describes the nature of this invention and the manner in which it is to be performed :-

This invention relates to a novel feature to be user] on automobile having Variomatic Drive, which will guide the rider to drive vehicle in the speed range, which -will "give optimum fuel economy.
On studying the fuel efficiency pattern against the road speed (refer graph No. 1), it can be seen that the best fuel efficiency can be obtained in middle speed fange. Below this economy speed range, the fuel efficiency falls substantially on account of Clutch Slippage and engine characteristic and above this fuel economy range it again drops due to typical engine characteristic. If the rider avoids these inefficiency zones (that is low speed and high speed) , then the average fuel economy he gets is much better. Certain skilled riders may achieve this without knowing the fundamentals behind it, however most riders do ride the vehicle in non-economical zones and thus get poor fuel economy.
Now this invention gives guidance to ride in the most
fuel-efficient zone. When rider is riding in lower speed
zone, an "Upward" arrow lights up and an Audio beeper gives a single beep at every predetermined time interval indicating that the speed should be increased, which will take him out of uneconomical zone. When the central speed band of fuel economy zone is achieved arrow indication and Beep disappear.
When rider goes into high-speed zone "Down" arrow lights up and also double beep starts sounding at every predetermined time interval, indicating the high-speed zone and the vehicle speed should be reduced.

The main parts of Mileage 'Maximiser system are as follows:
1) Speedometer unit with up and down arrow ihdica n.
2) Buzzer Assembly.
3) Microprocessor based Electronic device.
4) Wiring harness connecting the above components
In the accompanying drawings, fig.l shows sdhematic drawing of the maximiser mixer and fig.2 is the grhph of fuel efficiency pattern against road speed.
Fig. 1 shows the schematic diagram. The Electronic device unit(l) that has inbuilt engine rpm sensing circuit, senses the engine rpm from the Engine(2). The Microprocessor inside the device compares the engine rpm with the program inside it and finds out the speed zone in which the vehicle is being driven at that instant. This helps it to know the three speed zones as discussed
earlier. If the vehicle is in low speed zone, then the
Electronic device sends the signals to both Speedometer(4) to glow the "Up arrow" indicator and to Buzzer (3) (Single Beep at predetermined interval); indicating that the vehicle is running at low speed which is not economical zone and hence speed has to be increased for going into economical speed zone.
If the vehicle is found to be in high-speed zone, it gives the signal to Speedometer (4) to glow the "Down arrow" indicator and to Buzzer(3) for beeping (Double Beep at predetermined interval). This indicates that the vehicle is running at high speed, which is not economical. Hence speed has to be reduced for going into economical speed zone.

If the vehicle is running in economical speed zone (Middle band) then no signal is sent either to Speedometer arrow indicator or buzzer and thus the rider need not make any corrections.
The ingenuity is there in providing an Audio signal,
which makes it unnecessary to look at the speedometer to
know the speed zone in which one is driving and the ridtbr
can concentrate on traffic and thus increasing the safety
during driving. Ingenuity is also in devising
Single / Double beep to indicate low / high speed bands
respectively, such that rider can take corrective action
based on pure audio indications without having to look at
the speedometer arrows. Further safety and convenience is
enhanced by reducing the frequency at which double beeps
are given at high speed running, should the rider choose to
drive in that zone for a longer time say during intra city
travel or otherwise.
Thus, it will be noticed that the present invention is based on a very novel and unique concept, under which the rider receives the guidance for running the vehicle in fuel-efficient zone of Engine/Power Pack. This guidance is received through Upward / Downward arrow. When the upward arrow is lit, the rider is expected to increase the vehicle speed. This is further assisted through a beeper unit that calls for rider's attention and gives single beep at predetermined frequency. When down arrow is lit along with audio signal of double beep, which indicates that the vehicle is being run at higher speed and the rider is expected to reduce the speed. Using this arrangement an average user can get better mileage. An improvement of 10~20%, depending on his original habit, has been obtained.

Thus, this invention greatly helps the rider to drive in the fuel-efficient band of an engine / power pack for two or more wheeled vehicles.
The rider can choose to ignore the guidance from the
device, say on a long journey or otherwise, in such at
event the device automatically reduces, the '-f-requency oJ
beeping at higher speeds to reduce the irritation' which
might be caused by continuous beeping.
This device not only saves the fuel expenses for the rider to the tune of 10~20%, depending on the original driving habits, but would also save precious fuel anc expenses for the Nation. This would surely bring down Emissions, which is an indirect benefit to the Nation.

WE CLAIM
A new system, Mileage Maximizer for use in, Variomatic
driven two or more wheeled automobiles, which guides the
rider to drive in optimum fuel economy zone, comprising* (a) Speedometer unit with 'UP' and 'DOWN' arrow indicator embedded in it, (b) a Buzzer assembly and (c) a programmed Microprocessor based Electronic device consisting of the engine rpm sensing and sending appropriate signals to both the arrow indicator in the speedometer and the buzzer assembly and all drawing power from the battery connected by wiring harness and in turn connected to the engine of the vehicle to enable the rider to receive the audio-visual signals to adjust the speed of the vehicle for getting Optimum Fuel Economy.
