The following specification particularly describes the nature of the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed:
1.0 Introduction
While undergoing instructions at school or tutorial classes premises, traditionally, students need to carry with them herculean mass comprising of text books, copy books along with other utility items e.g. Tiffin box, water bottle, school diary, transport pass, identity card, wallet, geometry box, drawing portfolio, medicines if any.
Many times this is a burden for physically challenged or malnourished children thereby creating unpleasant, humiliating, experiences, scenes which decline their interest in learning.
Bulk of the mass amongst the aforesaid components is contributed by the mandatory academic content entities.
2.0 General Demerits
The demerits associated with overloading students than their clinically approved physical capacities of fetching load are as follows.
• Routine management, organizing, sequencing, tracking of the afore sighted burdensome academic material is an exasperating experience for students there by distracting them from concentrating on academic.
• Due to laborious toeing of load, it causes fatigue, depression, lack of enthusiasm and changes the temperament of student.
• In case of misplacement of these learning resources, it leads to nervousness, humiliation, embracement for student.
• Sometimes due to high anxiety level prevailing amongst a few students, while handling the aforesaid chore issues, it forces them to adopt life threatening steps due to anticipated anger expressed by parents, guardian and teachers and peer pressure,
• The burden of heavy sac of educational material leads to logistic problem, indirectly inculcating indiscipline of jumping of queues, seats,
• Due to lack of awareness, ill handling, improper shelving, immaturity of conservation, severe weathering conditions, lack of maintenance etc. the sustainability of these learning resources is poor and thus it adds to economic burden upon parents due to its frequent repurchase.
• Non- availability of right edition, author, bad print or loss or tearing of class notes creates inconvenience at the time of examination there by makes student nervous and affects their performance.
• Clinically, overloading also leads to certain serious ailments affecting the posture and back bone related injuries.
3.0 Technical Demerits
• However, besides the afore highlighted phyio-psycho-socio-eco issues, the biggest drawback of the prevailing text based media format of today's academic material used by students and teachers is that it is a DUMB content i.e. it is completely non-interactive.
• The student does not have much choice and has to depend upon the availability, affordability of the textbook, grasp the essence of the content in the non-vernacular and difficult language adopted by authors.
• Moreover case studies based on non-compatible ethnic-social-cultural examples poses threat in clarity deeper understanding.
• Teachers have to depend upon the recommending authorities from the school board or university to follow certain text books there by sometimes restricting their own teaching abilities.
• Also due to malpractices in the tendering system of procurement sometime it leads to supply of inferior quality of books and stationary which even lack in academic knowledge content quality.
• The academy has to trust upon monopoly of publishers, book & stationary vendors to ensure smooth and timely supply during the academic year.
• Examiners need to evaluate the performance of the students based upon the limited scope of the topic expressed in the official text book thereby discouraging free thinking, prohibiting creativity amongst students, teachers.
• Due to non-interactive, non-sharable educational content, students & teachers from various school boards or differently located branches of same academy have limited academic interactions. Therefore students graduated from such academies are not aware of the quality of education; learning experience shared by their peer and truly lacks the global competitive spirit and confidence.
4.0 Invention
No doubt, the Information Era has boosted hardware and communication infrastructure in the centers of learning such as schools to tutorial hubs. However, the quality of true scientific knowledge imparted or acquired by the students from such institutions still remains a question mark.
Hence, upon carrying out extensive research of the lacunae of the current model of delivery of academic instructions via usage of print media through chalk and board
model adopted by a teacher, inventors have come out with a novel portable, digital apparatus and associated innovative process having following unique features.
The current invention will act as a facilitator without compromising the ongoing education offered through brick and mortar learning centers.
This being a 'BOOKLESS' apparatus and process integrated to create, manage, distribute and deploy the multimedia based edutainment content synchronizing the conventional (chalk 8B board based) instruction delivery process to equip the stake holder in academia to learn at customized pace, conduct examination, monitor regular performance, accountability, enhance interaction amongst geographically distantly located educational institutions
It acts as a platform where appropriate authorities can access the device online/offline virtual private communication channel over intra or internet.
It is expected to cater various functionalities in the education vertical such content creation and management, evaluation and monitoring progress of student, general administration. It offers otherwise non available offline dialogue channel for all the stake holder within and outside academy,
It is compliant with all the operating systems of various SIM/SIMless mobile handsets and other electronic display and interactive devices thereby making it easy to go on cloud.
It supports viewing of mutli-dimensional animation, drag-and-drop or WYSIWYG graphic interface, dictionary, glossary, and online translation engine and default templates for various subjects.
It acts as an interactive e-reader or e-book where ownership can be lifetime.
The invention in christened as i-Diphthera signifying I for intelligent, internet enabled device. However, Diphthera is a Greek word meaning ancient Persian bulky taxation register containing detail compiled information about various strata of society, different natural resources, potential earning by each citizen, taxation rules, collection and debits.
This book used to serve as a handy tool for exchequer to frame penalties, awards and design financial policies based upon the interaction and sharing of the huge data amongst different provinces prevailing in that era.
Inventors are motivated from this analogy to improve the overall effectiveness and e-governess by sharing and usage of the valuable knowledge.
Based upon this inspiration, to seamlessly govern the day to day affair in an educational organization and implement the effective content exchange, inventors have conceived this unique platform iDiphthera.,

a) Type of license e.g. active, inactive, suspended etc.
b) No of issued license,
c) Calendar of expiry/renewal/validity,
d) Management of serial number of device and its one to one mapping with type of license, etc.
Step - 1
Head End is generating license as per the requirement and uses following tables as details:
Table Name: HeadEnd. License
ID: as LicenselD
Licence No: Unique Hexadecimal number (algorithm to create license number).
Generation Date: Date when Head End generate licenses.(This.date is only used for HEA.)
AssignUnassign: keep this status false initially (Update this filed as true when HEA assign
this license to SSA).
Userld: as HeadEndID
AssoclateLicenseToTab: keep this status false initially (Update this filed as true when SA
associated DEVICE with license), captured associated date.
OrphanedLicenseStatus : false by default and true when an assigned licensed has been
dis associated from device( Unassigned device flow)
Option for Admin to see history of device, for example when and how many time it get
assigned and to which user.
Headend will assigning one licenses with weight/count (200) as group to a school
(SSA).
Head end will manage license as group and will require getting associated license
units for billing. To get assigned and active license status, date etc. Head end
database need to be sync from SSA and SSA database need to be sync from SA or
web service option to get this info on demand. Even SSA or SA server may go offline
but all data must be stored in database and as soon as server will come online all
license data will be synced. If server does not indicate online for one billing cycle all
license must go inactive mode.
• Business rule is billing will be started as soon as license unit get associated with a hand held device. A school may have many active licenses but it is not billed until it is associated with any device.
• Generation of license is not part of SSA/SA so it should not be available to these users and also they will not able to request more license from application. Adding more license will be an offline process. Headend need to assign new license with new units. Headend will not add more units to existing license to keep the process simple and clean.
Step - 2
Head End Assign licenses to SSA in Read Only, Active and In-Active Permission Type and used following tables as details:
Table Name: HeadEnd.License
AssignUnassign: (Update this filed as true when HEA assign these license to SSA)
Table Name: HeadEnd. AssignLicence
ID: Primary key
NoOf Units : No. of Units of a license is coming with 1 id and more units assigned to SSA
Permission type: Permission type selected while Assignment of license (Active, In-Active,
Readonly). In active is needed when Headend can assign to SSA and it will allow to each
user of school to complete their task and when headend is set with formalities with school
only status change will require and permission will flow down to SSA to SA to
Student/Parent/Teacher and they will able to login to device.
Organization: it contains the id of Organization/SSA to whom Licenses are assigned.
BillingType: just taking information about bill generation (i.e monthly, quarterly, half
yearly, yearly) will be input to any billing system used in future.
Duration: : its take duration to license expiry (providing option to take duration in Month).
Max time of license, and once it reached all units of license will become Inactive. Headend
must be given interface to extend this duration. Date/userlogin id /comments must be
captured for history and report
AssignDateToSSA: Date when HeadEnd assign licenses to SSA
Expirydate: Expiry date of licenses will be calculated by duration and Billing Date
Userld: HEA_ID
AssingDatetoSA: date when SSA assign license to SA.
AssignLicensetoTabDate: date when a license get associated with handheld device/tab .
Only active/read only license can be associated. This is the point when billing start for one
user.
Table Name: HeadEnd. LicenceDetails(it saves the details of license assigned i.e licenseNo.)
Ex- if HEA assign 5 license to SSA then HeadEnd. AssignLicence contains details like
No. of license, billing type etc. while HeadEnd. LicenceDetails contains the details of
all the 5 licenses assigned
ID:Primary key
AssignLicencelD: it is foreign key reference of ID of HeadEnd. AssignLicence(to track the
details of licenses)
LicenceID:FK of License Table.
UDID: initially it is filled with null but get updated with ID of device store table when user
map license with device Before BillingDate now AssignLicensetoTabDate: date when a
license get associated with device/tab . Only active/read only license can be associated.
This is the point when billing start for one user.
Table Name:- School. AssignLicenceSchool
It works same as HeadEnd. AssignLicence to keep track of data at SSA level
Table Name:- School. LicenceDetailsUser
It works same as HeadEnd. LicenceDetails to keep track of data at SSA level
Step:3- Now SSA Assign licenses to SA in same Permission Type and used following tables
as details:
Table Name:- School. AssignLicenceSA
This works like the same when HEA assign licenses to SSA
But it keeps track of licenses assigned to SA by SSA
Table Name:- School. LicenceDetailsSA
It keeps track of licenses detail assigned to SA
Table Name:- School. LicenceDetailsUser
The AssignUnassignSA field is updated to true as license is assigned to SA
Step:4- Now SA associate licenses to device then keep following changes in tables :
Table Name:- HeadEnd.License
The AssignUnassignEnduser is updated to True
Table Name:- HeadEnd. LicenceDetails
The billing date and Udid fields are updated with The assigned date to User and I pad
unique id assigned to user
Table Name:- School. LicenceDetailsSA
Udid fields is updated with Device ID assigned to user
Table Name:- School. LicenceDetailsUser
AssignUnassignEndUser is updated to true
• If SA need to change device due to any reason ( damage, giving to other student, student left school etc) then he will un-assign device from student and this will create assigned license unit to ORPHANED state , orphaned state unit are license which are billed and not in use and must be associated with any other device ASAP. System must provide proper history of date, status and count. SSA, SA and Headend should able to clearly see and explore license date and status as group and drill down to each license level ( will require to query SSA server and SSA server will get data from each SA server) . Auto sync provision should be there along will specific request about license as group.
• SA will able to make student status suspended/Read only which will remove his permission to use device as per status of the student. This situation will come if student failed to pay fee or any other reason given by school. If school is changing permission then reason should be provided and same reason will be shown to student when he try login.
SA should also able to see history of student assigned assets (device) with date and time, this could be case when a student get assigned device more than one time. This point and previous point will be validation to each other.
[17] Billing management components has monthly, quarterly, semester, annual cycle, criteria of billing: e.g. fixed cost of hardware and variable cost of usage of license for a given period Present system provides complete usage and active license status on each license and users.
[18] Overall the system is an exclusive amalgamation of user friendly, multilingual
