A Non Electric on line and storage water purifier with a novel method of indicating the life of the purifier cartridge
3. PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
Field of Invention
The present invention relates to A Non Electric on line and storage water purifier with a novel method of indicating the life of the purifier cartridge.
Background of the Invention & the Related Art
Presently two types of water purifiers are available. The first being the storage type water purifiers & the second being online water purifiers. Most online water purifiers work on electricity for purification. Electricity is also necessary in the online water purifiers for the working of the protective mechanism and the indicator mechanism. Currently in India the continuous supply of electricity is a major problem. And as the continuous supply of electricity is a problem, working or functioning of the online water purifiers at any point of time is not possible. Considering the above problem of non-continuous supply of electricity a need was felt to device a water purifier which will be able to overcome the above referred lacunas and offer a versatile water purifier.
4. DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION:
For the said invention refer Figure 1 & Figure 2:
Elements A, B, C represents the filter cartridges of the purification process. These elements purify the raw water using specific medias for removal of the specified contaminants using a non-electric process.
Point I is the inlet for raw water to come into the purifier line, the product being an online purifier. The purified water coming out from element C is stored in Tank T with float F for auto filling. The purified water also goes out online through a diverter Valve D for external use such as a refrigerator, coffeemaker etc. This line is also available on the purifier for instant filling of a Tumbler (in case the tank is empty).
The life of the purifier cartridge is indicated on the purifier using the mechanism as described below:
The Electronic indication in the Non Electric purifier is powered by a Solar cell S and a logic circuitry. The purifier cartridge B has a purifier media R (in fine beads) that expands linearly as the cartridge exhausts, this principle is used to detect the life of the cartridge. Resting on the media is a movable stem E embedded with a magnet Ml normally kept away from the Reed switch SW1 which is magnetic field sensitive.
In the course of usage of the filter, as the media R expands, the magnet Ml moves upward and comes in the vicinity of the sense zone of SW1, this closes the switch SW1 providing a electrical signal.
Another Flow Magnet M2 and Reed Switch SW2 and flow cell FS forms a Flow sensing mechanism. As the water flows in the line, the flow magnet M2 moves upwards towards SW2 sense zone and closes the switch SW2.
The sense mechanism is powered by a Solar cell and a Lithium cell. The Lithium cell powers the electrical circuitry whenever required. However, the stored power available in the cell is limited and cannot power the Indicating optical devices on a continuous basis. The optical devices such as an LED therefore turns only
whenever water is drawn from the line, this is sensed using the flow sensor mechanism.
The indicator lamps on the water purifier show a Healthy sign only when water is drawn form the purifier, in the event when the purifier cartridge is exhausted a warning lamp will light up.
The solar cell S charges the working Lithium cell at all times whenever sunlight or indoor lights are on. This ensures that the electric power for the indicator mechanism is always available and does not need a Cell replacement for many years.
The life of the purifier cartridge is generally around 6-12 months and will therefore never outrun the Lithium cell life.
The objective of the invention is to make a product which addresses the present limitations and to incorporate following important features:
1. A storage and an online water purifier in one product
2. A water purifier with purification and Indication process independent of electrical power.
3. A unique indicator mechanism based on the expansion properties of the purifier media
4. A Solar powered indicator mechanism
