Specification

FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The invention relates to an apparatus for fitting the sidewall in airpreheater and particularly to the manufacture of cold end center section of air preheater by using novel fixture.
The present subject matter also relates to method of fit-up of sidewall without much use of crane holding and turn buckle.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
In coal based thermal power plants, mechanical power is produced by combustion of coal. The boiler system burns the coal, and the thermal energy generated is used for generating steam from water. The mechanical energy of steam is converted to the rotational energy of the turbine, which in turn rotates the generator to produce electricity.
Air preheater is an important auxiliary equipment in the modern utility, industrial, & process boilers. It is a heat exchanger to recover the heat energy from the hot flue gas, which otherwise would have gone unutilized and transfer the same to the incoming air for further utilization in the boilers / process. Cold End center section is one of the part of Air preheater.
For completion of cold end center section fabrication activities, the sidewall fitup is necessity.
To overcome the above said problem a new apparatus and a method are provided by incorporating side wall fixture, in which the use of crane holding time and turn buckle for support is eliminated and the sidewall fitup time is also reduced.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
It is therefore a principle object of the present invention is to provide a novel apparatus) for holding and arresting the sidewall comprises a novel sidewall fixture for cold end center section of airpreheater.
Another object of the present invention to provide is to provide a novel apparatus) for holding and arresting the sidewall, which is simple and economic.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a novel apparatus) for holding and arresting the sidewall which reduces the cycle time for sidewall fitup.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a novel apparatus) for holding and arresting the sidewall, which decreases the involvement of man power.
Further object of the present invention to provide a novel method for fit- up sidewall for cold end center section, which diminishes the human fatigue, enhanced safety and improves the working environment.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a novel method for holding and arresting sidewall, which is simple and economic.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
An apparatus for holding and arresting a sidewall comprising: a bottom plate
(11) connected to a cold end connecting plate assembly; one or two sidewalls
(12) which housed the sidewall fixture plurality of channels (2a, 2b and 2c) connected with slot mechanism; a guide plate (4) is welded with guide moving plate (5) a sidewall locking clamp;
characterized in that said sidewall is clamped with sidewall fixtures at different places for arresting the sidewall by release of eot crane.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS:
The subject matter of the present invention relates to novel apparatus for holding and arresting the sidewall of an air pre-heater by introducing a sidewall fixtures.
The present invention also relates to a manufacturing method of holding and arresting sidewall cold end center section of airpreheater by using fixture for cold end center Section used in Airpreheater. The sidewall fixture has been designed to accommodate in the bottom plate lug hole of cold end center section of airpreheater.
In accordance with an embodiment of the present invention the regenerative air preheater absorbs waste heat from flue gas and transfers this heat to the incoming cold air by means of heat transfer elements. The heat transfer elements are specially formed metal plates which are continuously rotating. Thousands of these high efficiency elements are spaced and compactly arranged within 12 / 24 sector shaped compartments of a radially divided cylindrical shell called the rotor.
As explained above there is provided a housing surrounded by the rotor, and also is provided with duct connections at both the ends thereof. It is adequately sealed by radial & axial sealing members which eventually form an air passage through one half of the air preheater and gas passaging of gas through another.
The top part of the air preheater is connected to the hot end connecting plate assembly and bottom part is attached to cold end connecting plate assembly. The cold end connecting plate assembly comprises the center section, which need to be fabricated. The sidewall fitup is necessary for the fabrication process.

According to an implementation of the present subject matter, an apparatus is provided for holding and arresting the sidewall comprising of a bottom plate (11);
a side wall (12) which housed the sidewall fixture (as shown in fig 3.) where in the sidewall fixture channel (2a) is perpendicularly connected and welded with different channels (2b, 2c);
The channels (2b and 2c) are connected with slot mechanism with bolt (9) and nut (10). As per the present invention, there is provided a guide plate (4) is welded with guide moving plate (5) and the guide moving plate (5) is connected with slot mechanism with channels (2b and 2c). Further, a sidewall locking clamp (6) is also linked with channel (2a) with bolt (7) and nut (8).
In accordance with the present subject matter, the new side wall fixture is fixed with the bottom plate lug hole. The side wall (12) is lifted with eot crane and placed in marking line of bottom plate (11) (as shown in the figure 1). Then the sidewall is clamped with sidewall fixture at four places and then the eot crane is released and the sidewall is arrested.
Similarly, the second sidewall is also (12) is lifted with eot crane and clamped with sidewall fixture accordingly. After that the crane is released. According to the present invention the sidewall fixtures are utilized for arresting and supporting the sidewall (12) instead of eot crane. By adjusting the channel (2b) and channel (2c), the guide plate (4) can be adjusted to locate in bottom lug hole.
In accordance with the another subject matter of the present invention, a method is also provided for arresting and supporting the side walls which comprises a cold end center section consists of a bottom plate (11), 2 sidewalls (12), a top plate and stiffeners. The two side walls (12) are fitted up vertically in bottom plate (11) with eot crane and fixed in the center of the bottom plate (11) at previously marked position. Then the sidewall (12) are hold with eot crane for arresting (as shown in Figure 2).
The eight-turn buckle (13) are used for providing the desired support and thereafter the eot cranes are released after arresting. For arresting and

holding one sidewall (12) with eot crane and turn buckle (13), 11 manpower and 8 hours is required. Simultaneously, for two side walls (12) hours for holding the sidewall (12) with eot crane, 22 manpower and 16 turn buckle (13) is required.
The non-limiting advantages of the present inventions are given below:
♦ The apparatus as claimed hereinafter reduces the cycle time of the sidewall fitup.
♦ The apparats also reduces the manpower for sidewall fitup
♦ The method as claimed hereinafter eliminate the holding time of the eot
crane for side wall fitup
♦ The method of the present invention enhance the safety of the sidewall fitup process
♦ The apparatus also reduce the human fatigue.
Although embodiments for the present subject matter have been described in language specific to structural features, it is to be understood that the present subject matter is not necessarily limited to the specific features described. Rather, the specific features and methods are disclosed as embodiments for the present subject matter. Numerous modifications and adaptations of the system/device of the present invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art, and thus it is intended by the appended claims to cover all such modifications and adaptations which fall within the scope of the present subject matter.

WE CLAIM:
1. An apparatus for holding and arresting a sidewall comprising:
a bottom plate (11) connected to a cold end connecting plate assembly;
one or two sidewalls (12) which housed the sidewall fixture plurality of channels (2a, 2b and 2c) connected with slot mechanism; and
a guide plate (4) is welded with guide moving plate (5) a sidewall locking clamp;
characterized in that said sidewall is clamped with sidewall fixtures at different places for arresting the sidewall by release of eot crane.
2. The apparatus for holding and arresting a sidewall as claimed in claim 1, wherein said sidewall fixtures is fixed with the bottom of the plate lug hole.
3. The apparatus for holding and arresting a sidewall as claimed in claim 1, wherein said sidewall fixtures channel (2a) is welded perpendicularly with the channels (2b and 2c).
4. The apparatus for holding and arresting a sidewall as claimed in claim 1, wherein said channels2a and 2b are connected to the slot mechanism with bolt (9) and nut (10).
5. The apparatus for holding and arresting a sidewall as claimed in claim 1, wherein said guide moving plate is connected with slot mechanism with channels (2b and 2c).
6. The apparatus for holding and arresting a sidewall as claimed in claim 1, wherein said sidewall locking clamp is connected with channel (2a) with bolt (7) and nut (8).
7. The apparatus for holding and arresting a sidewall as claimed in claim 1, wherein said sidewall is clamped with said sidewall fixtures at from different places.

8. The apparatus for holding and arresting a sidewall as claimed in claim 1, wherein said channels are adjusted with said guide plate for locating in bottom lug hole.
9. A method for fitup sidewall comprising:
a bottom plate (H) where two side walls are fitup vertically; lifting of said sidewalls fixtures with eot crane and fixing with bottom plate as previously marked; clamping of sidewalls with sidewall fixtures, holding the sidewall with cot crane for arresting; release of crane.
10. A method for fitup sidewall as claimed in claim 9, wherein said sidewalls
are fixed at the center of the bottom plate.
