A Novel Combo Valve With Efv And Filler Valve With Opd

Abstract: The present invention is a combo valve with a main valve body with flat wrenching specifically designed to overcome breakage. It includes a valve body (1), a NRV spring (8), a tube for fixed level guage (11), a gland (12), a SS ball (13), a brass cap (16), a brass tube (27) and a spring (30). The present invention is having the attachment of Overfill Protection Device (OPD) which can be operated by OPD knob as and when require. It is easy to manufacture and use the materials as such to enhance the life of the product and to achieve high level of satisfaction in quality.

Moreover, holding and tightening of the valve are not proper due to non-availability of specific holding and tightening tools. Also, the lack of instructions always creates doubt in customers mind as to how to use such complicated valve.
Thus, to overcome the problems of the conventional combo valve, the present invention provides a combo valve with a main valve body have flat wrenching specifically designed to overcome breakage. Advantageously, having the attachment of Overfill Protection Device (OPD) which can be operated by OPD knob as and when require.
Sometimes it may require to fill LPG cylinder at the customer's site where weighing scale is not available, that time Overfill Protection Device (OPD) will help to determine the filled quantity of LPG (liquid). It is not there in the conventional Combo Valve.
Objectives of the Invention
The prime objective of the present invention is to provide a combo valve which provides a main valve body have flat wrenching specifically designed to overcome breakage.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide a combo valve with the attachment of OPD which can be operated by OPD knob as and when require.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide a combo valve which is easy to manufacture and with the use of high quality of materials to enhance the life of the product and to achieve high level of satisfaction in quality.

Another objective of the present invention is to provide a combo valve with NRV housing assembly which removes the actuator henceforth and make it easy to handle the equipment.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide a combo valve with the use of EFCV which is attached at the inlet to the valve and inside the cylinder to protect it from damage in case of an accident as it is prone to damage outside the cylinder.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide a combo valve with the use of EFCV which operates efficiently and prevents the release of LPG in an uncontrolled manner therefore safety is ensured.
These and other objectives of the present invention will be apparent from the drawings and descriptions herein. Every object of the invention is attained by at least one embodiment of the invention. However, no embodiment necessarily meets every object set forth herein.
Brief Description of Drawings
The drawings described herein are for illustrative purposes only of selected embodiments and not all possible implementations, and are not intended to limit the scope of the present disclosure.
Figure 1 represents a combo valve of the present invention to be used in LPG cylinders.
Figure 2 represents an operating spindle (14), a brass cap (16), a screw (17), a second O ring (18) and the ACME Connector Cap (35).
Corresponding reference numerals indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views of the drawings.

Detailed description of the invention:
The following is a detailed description of exemplary embodiments to illustrate the principles of the invention. The embodiments are provided to illustrate aspects of the invention, but the invention is not limited to any embodiment. The scope of the invention encompasses numerous alternatives, modifications and equivalent; it is limited only by the claims.
Numerous specific details are set forth in the following description in order to provide a thorough understanding of the invention. However, the invention may be practiced according to the claims without some or all of these specific details. For the purpose of clarity, technical material that is known in the technical fields related to the invention has not been described in detail so that the invention is not unnecessarily obscured.
In reference of figure 1, an embodiment of the present invention is directed towards a combo valve which includes a valve body (1), a NRV spring (8), a tube for fixed level gauge (11), a gland (12), a SS ball (13), a brass cap (16), a brass tube with OPD (27) and a spring (30).
It further includes an acme connector (2), a rubber washer (3), a rubber seal (4), a lock screw (5), a lock washer (6), a poppet NRV (7), a wing washer nut (9), a first O Ring (10), an operating spindle (14), an operating handle (15), a screw (17), a second O ring (18), a fixed level body (19), a rubber pad (20), a pad holder (21), a hand wheel (22), a piston (23), a lock pin (24), a third O ring (25), a seat (26), a circlip lock (28), a support bush (29), a pad holder (31), a rubber pad (32), NRV poppet (33), a SS tube with EFCV (34), ACME Connector Cap (35), O ring locking washer (36), a support nut (37), O rins f38Y a eland f39Y a NRV housing f40Y and an OPD knob f41 Y

The Valve body is made of high-quality of brass which is basically copper and zinc alloy. It is the most competent material to make LPG valve and equipment. The valve body have inlet thread 1 V2" NPT and 4 port. First port is a female connection for liquid filling having M 38 x 1.5 thread where the ACME connector (2) is to tight, second port is for liquid withdrawal having male thread in M 36 x 2 mm where the NRV housing (40) is tightened for liquid withdrawal.
It is made of brass and consists of the support bush (29), the spring (30), the pad holder (31) and the NRV poppet (33). The spring is located on the support bush (29). The support bush (29) provides back support to the rubber pad (32) creates a leak proof joint with the NRV poppet (33). The NRV housing (40) also have bleeder valve consists of the pad holders (21), the rubber pad (20) and the fixed level body (19).
This liquid withdrawal port has a ball valve consists of the two teflon gland (12) which supports one end from the valve body (1) and other end is being tightened at the support nut (37) which is made of brass. Whole assembly of valve is being operated with the help of the operating spindle (14), the operating handle (15), the brass cap (16) and the screw (17) as well.
Further, third port is for vapour withdrawal having thread size 0.885" POL female connection (CGA connection no. 510) and fourth port is female connection for liquid level gauge to check liquid level having thread size 1/4* NPT. The vapor flow is to be controlled by the piston (23) having 'O' ring mounted on the handwheel (22).

The ACME Connector (2) is made of brass having ACME thread on one side of 1 3/4 ACME male connection and other side Male connection M 38 x 1.5. This connection is being used for filling of LPG. The rubber washer (3), the rubber seal (4), the lock screw (5), the lock washer (6), the poppet NRV (7), and the NRV spring (8) all are fitted in this ACME connector (2) and make a complete assembly as a filling attachment which helps to fill LPG from the ACME connector (2).
The Rubber Washer (3) are made from high quality Rubber i.e. NBR with required hardness to enhance the life of the rubber washer (3) which helps to guide and make a leak proof joint while in use for filling equipment.
The rubber seal (4) provides leak proof joint. This seals on the Poppet NRV (7) and tighten with the help of the lock screw (5) and the lock washer (6). The lock screw (5) helps to tighten the rubber seal (4) in its position.
The lock washer (6) is made of brass. This helps in putting the rubber seal (4) in its place. The poppet NRV (7) is made of high-quality brass. It holds the rubber seal (4), the lock screw (5) and the lock washer (6) and the whole assembly slides in the wing washer nut (9) and putting pressure on the rubber seal (4) with the help of the NRV spring (8).
The NRV Spring (8) is made of high-quality stainless steel which helps to create a tight joint between the rubber seal (4) and the ACME connector (2) and gives leak proof joint.

The wing washer nut (9) is made of high-quality brass duly machined after forging. This provides and guides the Poppet NRV (7). The first O Ring (10) is made of high-quality rubber it provides leak proof between the valve body (1) and the ACME connector (2).
The Tube for Fixed Level Gauge (11) is made of copper or high-quality brass. It is a seamless tube used to check the LPG level through inlet port of the valve. The gland (12) is made of high-quality Teflon which is molded and then machined to get the required size. This provides leak proof joint between the SS Ball (13) and the wing washer nut (9).
The SS Ball (13) is made out of stainless-steel material. This helps to guide requisite flow to the required direction and also helps to stop the flow by changing its flow direction.
Further figure 2 represents an operating spindle (14), a brass cap (16), a screw (17), a second O ring (18) and the ACME Connector Cap (35).
The operating spindle (14) is made of stainless-steel material. This gives rotating motion to the SS ball (13) as and when required with the help of the operating handle (15), the brass cap (16) and the screw (17). The two second 'O' rings (18) are provided to create a leak proof system.
The operating handle (15) is made of high-grade steel just to control the ball rotating operation as and when required manually. The OPD knob (41) made of brass is being used to open and close the functioning of OPD (Overfill protection device).

The brass cap (16) is made of high-quality brass. This guides and fixes the operating spindle (14) on the valve body (1) with the help of the screw (17).
The screw (17) is made out of high-quality steel. This helps to fix the operating spindle (14) on the SS ball (13) as well as the valve body (1). The Third O ring (18) is made of high-quality rubber made of NBR. This provides leak proof motion to the operating spindle (14).
The fixed level body (19) is made out of high-quality brass having male thread 1 l/4th inlet NPT at the bottom side which sits on the valve body (1) with the help of this thread. It is having two holes one at the bottom of diameter 3.20 mm from where liquid LPG make entry and out from hole size 6.80 mm. On top of this fixed level body there is M10 x 1.5 nm female thread where the pad holder (21) moves / slides along with assembly with the rubber pad (20) as and when required.
The rubber pad (20) is made of high-quality rubber which helps the pad holder (21) to give leak proof joint. The pad holder (21) is made of high-quality brass have male thread 10 x 1.5 mm which helps the rubber pad (20) and it moves up and down when it is required with the help of knurling and to check the liquid level in the cylinder.
The hand wheel (22) is made of high-quality brass. On top of the handle, open and close marking is embossed. Basically it is a forged body. Machining is done with the thread size of AM 18 x 1.5 and required slots are made to give motion to the piston

(23). This helps to exert pressure on the piston (23) and the seat (26) to close vapour flow from the valve body (1).
The piston (23) is made of high-quality brass having two grooves where O- ring (25) sits which gives leak proof motion. When we do Open and Close to vapour ports. Other end of piston is having seat (26) which provides leak proof joint.
The lock pin (24) is made of lead-free brass which is required to lock the piston with the body so that piston does not come out from the body and it has been riveted on the valve body (1).
The third O Ring (25) is made of high quality NBR sits on the piston (23) to give leak proof motion. The seat (26) is made from Nylon 66 to provide leak proof joint. These are crimped in the piston (23) at the one end.
The brass tube (Filling) with OPD (27) is made of high-quality brass fitted in the inlet port of the valve body (1) with the help of male thread M16 x 1. This helps in LPG filling.

All parts are assembled as OPD attachments. Whenever cylinder is filled with 85% of LPG due to its less density and behaviour of float, lift itself to the top level of LPG liquid (85%) of LPG filling) which result pushing of Part OPD3 (spindle) with the help of Part OPD4 (spring) which finally shut the flow of LPG filling which means it does not allow further filling of LPG from liquid filling port. The circlip Lock (28) is required to lock the motion of support bush (29). The support bush (29) is required for guiding the spring (30) and also guide the NRV Poppet (33).
The spring (30) is providing to open and close the NRV. The Pad holder (31) is made of brass. It supports the rubber pad (32) from back side so that it should not be dislocated. The Rubber Pad (32) is made of NBR, is to provide leak proof joint between the NRV housing) and Part 33 (NRV poppet).
NRV Poppet (33) is made of high-quality brass. It moves forward and backward with the help of support bush (29) and assembly of the spring (30), Pad holder (31) and Rubber pad (32), as and when required.
The SS Tube with EFCV (34) is made of high-quality seamless two tubes made of stainless steel which are required to withdraw the liquid LPG through EFCV from bottom of the cylinder. One tube is tightened from one end the valve body (1) by thread

size M16 x 1 and other side with EFCV assembly. Another tube tightens with bottom side of EFCV and other side remains open to access the LPG.
EFCV (Excess Flow control Valve) assembly consist of Part EFVOl (body made of brass), Part EFV02 (hex nut made of brass), Part EFV03 (rubber seal made of high-quality rubber), Part EF V04 (poppet NRV made of brass), Part EF V05 (spindle made of brass), Part EFV06 (wing washer nut of brass), Part EFV07 (guide plate made of brass), Part EFV08 (spring made of SS).
EFV02 tightens on main body of EFC Part 1. It also holds one end of SS tube. Two nuts are tightened at both the end of main body. EF V03 sits on poppet NRV Part EF V04 and tightens to its position with the help of Part EFV05 (spindle). EFV04 Poppet NRV holds rubber seal just to provide leak proof assembly.
EFV05 Spindle guide and placed rubber seal on its position and this part is tightened with Part EFV04 (poppet NRV). The whole assembly slides according to flow and sits on Part EFV06 (wing washer nut) and creates a no-flow when specified flow of EFCV is achieved. EFV06 Wing Washer Nut tightens and slide on EFVOl (main body). It also holds EFV05 (spring). EFV07 Guide plate holds and guide the motion of Part EFV04 (poppet NRV).
ACME Connector Cap (35) which is made of PVC / Delrin and provide dust proof connection. O Ring Locking washer (36) is made of NBR. It is to provide leak proof joint. Support Nut (37) is made of high-quality brass. It is required to lock and guide

SS Ball (13). O-ring (38) is to provide leak proof joint. Gland (39) is made of Teflon. It is to provide leak proof support and guide Part 13 (SS Ball).
NRV Housing (40) is made of high-quality brass. The whole assembly is fitted on the valve body (1) and given leak proof joint and fulfill the requirement of liquid withdrawal. OPD knob (41) is made of high-quality brass which can be operated and as when required.
The advantages of the present invention include:
1. The main valve body (1) has flat wrenching specifically designed to overcome breakage. It also provides proper flat size to hold torque wrench. Advantageously, it is having the attachment of Overfill Protection Device (OPD) which can be operated by OPD knob as and when require.
2. Manufacturing of the valve and using the material as per International Standard provides satisfactory result and enhance the life of the product to achieve high level of satisfaction in quality.
3. The use of EFCV at Inlet Inside the cylinder. EFCV is attached at the inlet to the valve and inside the cylinder to protect it from damage in case of an accident as it is prone to damage outside the cylinder. This way the EFCV operates efficiently and prevents the release of LPG in an uncontrolled manner therefore safety is ensured.

4. Provision of Ball Valve at inlet gives additional protection in case of emergency at the filling port. An immediate stoppage can be done to filling process with this manual Ball Valve.
5. Provision of Vapour Withdrawal connection - This connection has three purposes:
i) In case of requirement of vapour in large quantities, where there is no
vapouriser LPG can be taken out from this vapour port.
ii) In case of combo valve malfunctioning, the cylinder can be decanted through
this valve to ensure safety.
iii) The vapour port also ensures differential pressure during filling of Liquid
LPG.
6. The valve of the present invention is approved by statutory body i.e. PESO
Although preferred embodiments of the invention have been illustrated and described, it will at once be apparent to those skilled in the art that the invention includes advantages and features over and beyond the specific illustrated construction. Accordingly, it is intended that the scope of the invention be limited solely by the scope of the hereinafter appended claims, and not by the foregoing specification, when interpreted in light of the relevant prior art.

We claim:

1. A combo valve comprising:
a valve body (1);
a NRV spring (8);
a tube for fixed level guage (11);
a gland (12);
a SS ball (13);
a brass cap (16);
a brass tube (27) with Overfill Protection Device (OPD); and
a spring (30),
wherein the valve body (1) have flat wrenching which is designed to overcome
breakage, provides proper flat size to hold torque wrench and having the
attachment of the Overfill Protection Device (OPD) which is operated by OPD
knob as and when require.
2. The combo valve as claimed in claim 1, wherein the valve body (1) includes an
acme connector (2), a rubber washer (3), a rubber seal (4), a lock screw (5), a lock
washer (6), a poppet NRV (7), a wing washer nut (9), a first O Ring (10), an
operating spindle (14), an operating handle (15), a screw (17), a second O ring (18),
a fixed level body (19), a rubber pad (20), a pad holder (21), a hand wheel (22), a
piston (23), a lock pin (24), a third O ring (25), a seat (26), a circlip lock (28), a
support bush (29), a pad holder (31), a rubber pad (32), a NRV poppet (33), and a
SStubewithanEFCV(34).

3. The combo valve as claimed in claim 1, wherein the valve body (1) is made up of brass.
4. The combo valve as claimed in claim 1, wherein the EFCV (34) is provided at inlet to the valve (1) and inside the cylinder to protect the cylinder from damage.
5. The combo valve as claimed in claim 1, wherein the SS Ball (13) is made of stainless-steel material and helps to guide requisite flow to the required direction and to stop the flow by changing its flow direction.
