FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to a novel emblem mounting for a vehicle to diffuse
emblem reflection.
PRIOR ART
Emblem mounting for a vehicle is known in the art. Said conventional
mounting comprising a lens connected to a reflector to obtain an assembly of
lens and reflector. This assembly is fitted on the body of vehicle. The emblem
with double sided tape on its back is pasted on said lens.
The reflector is chrome plated plastic reflector (Aluminized Reflector). To
provide an emblem on the lens, back surface of the lens is provided with rollets
in the form of emblem as shown in fig. 1.
The tool for manufacturing of the lens is required to undergo machining for
creating rollets on the back surface of lens.
Further, drawbacks associated with the above prior art are that, it is expensive
and tedious during the machining.
Again, during manufacturing of the lens, bubble defect (shot-short) may occur
leading to rejection of the same.
Yet again, the rollets is required to be provided on the lens back exactly in the
form of emblem as shown in fig. 1, thereby making the procedure difficult.
Inspite of all above provisions, diffusion of emblem reflection on the reflector is
not effective as shown in fig. 2 because it can't diffuse the light effectively.
In view of the above, it is required to develop a novel emblem mounting for a
vehicle, which can address the aforesaid drawbacks. Hence, the present
invention proposes a novel emblem mounting for a vehicle to diffuse emblem
reflection.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The primary object of the present invention is to provide a novel emblem
mounting for a vehicle to diffuse emblem reflection which overcomes
disadvantages associated with the prior art.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a novel emblem mounting
for a vehicle to diffuse emblem reflection which is simple in construction.
Further object of the present invention is to provide a novel emblem mounting
for a vehicle to diffuse emblem reflection which is efficient and reliable.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
According to this invention, there is provided a novel emblem mounting for a
vehicle to diffuse emblem reflection comprising of a reflector mounted with a
lens provided with emblem, which is fitted on to body of vehicle, wherein back
surface of the lens is provided with etching.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from
the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanying
drawings and wherein:
Fig. 1 shows: Back side of lens according to prior art.
Fig. 2 shows: Emblem mounted on the vehicle according to prior art.
Fig. 3 shows: Emblem mounting on the vehicle in accordance with present
invention.
Fig. 4 shows: Back side of lens according to present invention.
Fig. 5 shows: Lens of the present invention.
Fig. 6 shows: Sectional view (v-v) of fig. 5.
Fig. 7 shows: Emblem mounted on the vehicle in accordance with the present
invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE
ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS:-
The invention of the proposed application is directed to a novel emblem
mounting for a vehicle to diffuse emblem reflection. Reference may be made to
fig. 3 indicating emblem mounting on the body of vehicle. The emblem
mounting comprising of a chrome plated plastic reflector (2) mounted with a
novel lens (1) of the present invention. This mounting is fitted onto body (3) of
vehicle.
In order to diffuse the emblem reflection on the aluminized reflector, the back
surface of the lens is provided with etching. For the same reference may be
made to fig. 4. Said etching is provided in the lens back surface exactly behind
the emblem i.e. 'S' mark in this particular case without restricting scope of the
invention to the same.
The tool required for creating etching on the lens back is not required to
undergo machining unlike prior art. Again, during manufacturing of lens with
the help of the tool no problem is encountered as in the known art leading to
rejection of the same.
This makes it cost effective. Again, as shown in fig. 4, the etching can be
provided across the whole surface of the lens exactly behind the emblem mark
without maintaining the gap (G) between sections (S) of said emblem, which is
required to maintain in case of available emblem mounting as shown in fig. 1.
This makes the manufacturing procedure easy.
Now, referring to fig. 5 indicating lens (1) with the etching in the form of
emblem mark (S), on which the emblem (E) with double side tape on its back is
required to be pasted. Further, referring to fig. 6 showing sectional view (v-v) in
which etching (lA) is provided on the whole surface of the lens (1) back exactly
behind the emblem mark (E) without maintaining the gap (G) as already
discussed.
As it can be observed in fig. 7that, the present invention prevents reflection of
emblem on the reflector.
Thus, provision of graining (etching) diffuses the reflection more effectively,
thereby serving the purpose better than the prior art.
Advantageous Features
- Cost effective.
- Easy in manufacturing of tool without requiring machining.
- Effectively prevents reflection of emblem on the reflector.
- Avoids defect during manufacturing of lens, thereby preventing rejection
of the same.
It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications,
adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments
employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within
the scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under the
following claims:

-6-
