DESCRIPTION
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is related to a pharmaceutical formulation of Vitamin E
with increased bioavailability.
PRIOR ART RELATED TO THE INVENTION
US 5179122 discloses a composition for increased bioavailability of Vitamin E.
The composition contains a Vitamin E material, a surface active agent, an inert
carrier, and, optionally, a flow agent.
US 2003/0236236 discloses a Pharmaceutical compositions and dosage forms
for administration of hydrophobic drugs, particularly steroids, are provided. The
pharmaceutical compositions include a therapeutically effective amount of a
hydrophobic drug, preferably a steroid; a solubilizer, preferably a vitamin E
substance; and a surfactant. The synergistic effect between the hydrophobic
drug and the vitamin E substance results in a pharmaceutical formulation with
improved dispersion of both the active agent and the solubilizer. As a result of
the improved dispersion, the pharamaceutical composition has improved
bioavailability upon administration. Methods of improving the bioavailability of
hydrophobic drugs administered to a patient are also provided.
WO 2005/092287 provides novel vitamin compositions having increased
absorption and bioavailability. Vitamin E compositions are provided, for
example, having biologically significant amounts of one or more vitamin E
homologues in an aqueous formulation. Also provided is a method for preparing
aqueous formulations of lipophilic nutrients.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PRESENT INVENTION
The object of the present invention is to provide a formulation of vitamin E with
higher bioavailability.
Yet another object of the present invention is to make Vitamin E more effective
in low doses.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is related to the pharmaceutical formulation comprising
Vitamin E with increased bioavailability. The bioavailability of Vitamin E is
increased by adding Sesame oil (til oil).
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Vitamin E is used to refer to a group of fat-soluble compounds that include both
tocopherols and tocotrienols. There are many different forms of vitamin E, of
which -tocopherol is the most abundant in the North American diet, -
Tocapherol can be found in corn oil, soybean oil, margarine and dressings, α-
Tocopherol, the most biologically active form of vitamin E, is the second most
abundant form of vitamin E in the North American diet. This variant of vitamin E
can be found most abundantly in wheat germ oil, sunflower, and safflower oils.
It is a fat-soluble antioxidant that stops the production of reactive oxygen
species formed when fat undergoes oxidation.
Sesame oil (also known as gingelly oil or til oil) is an edible vegetable oil
derived from sesame seeds. Besides being used as cooking oil in South India, it
is often used as a flavor enhancer in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and to a
lesser extent Southeast Asian cuisine.
The oil from the nutrient rich seed is popular in alternative medicine - from
traditional massages and treatments to modern day fads. Ancient Indian
medical system perceives sesame oil to pacify stress related symptoms and on-

going research indicates that the rich presence of anti-oxidants and poly¬unsaturated fats in sesame oil could help in controlling blood pressure. The oil is popular in pockets of Asia and is also one of the earliest known crop-based oil, but world-wide mass modern production continues to be limited even today due to the inefficient manual harvesting process required to extract the oil.
The present formulation comprises of adding Vitamin E to Sesame oil so that Vitamin E is more bioavailable. The main advantage of using Vitamin E with sesame oil is that sesame oil is also a source of vitamin E and it will also help in increasing the absorption of vitamin E from the intestine. Vitamin E is in the range of 100 IU to 400 IU more preferably 250 IU, while Sesame oil is in the range of 65 mg to 130 mg, more preferably 75 mg.

CLAIMS
1. The pharmaceutical formulation comprising Vitamin E with oil to increase
the bioavailability of Vitamin E.
2. Vitamin E as claimed in claim 1 is in the range of 100 IU to 400 IU, more
preferably 250 IU.
3. The oil claimed in claim 1 will be preferably Sesame oil.
4. Sesame oil, claimed in claim 3, is in the range of 65 mg to 130 mg,
preferably 75 mg.
5. The formulation as claimed in claim 1 will be oral, preferably soft gelatin capsule.
