Specification

FILED OF INVENTION
This invention relates to a novel rear axle twist beam of vehicle to improve
lubrication by using oil and a method of manufacturing thereof.
PRIOR . ART .
Rear axle twist beam of vehicle comprising of a centre beam connected to a
trailing arm at each end.
Currently grease is applied to the rear axle centre beam of vehicle for
lubrication to reduce friction and noise during the relative movement of outer
surface and inner surface. Grease is applied to the centre beam from the side
before welding with the trailing arm. However, grease does not serve the
purpose efficiently. 1
As oil performs better than grease (oil is less viscous than grease), therefore oil
is used to improve lubrication and avoid chances of any abnormal noises
during relative movement of suter surface and inner surface.
, Oil can be used in a closed assembly not in an open profiled centre beam.
Currently, there is no provision' for injection of oil into the centre beam. Hence,
the proposed invention is directed to a rear axle twist beam using oil to improve
I lubricating properties and reduce. noise generation.
Now, reference may be made to the following prior arts:
CN 201566420UA:-It relates to a drive axle rear cover which comprises an axle
rear cover, an oil filling hole, an ullage hole, an oil filling screw plug and an oil
s level screw piug, and wherein an oil hole and a screw plug are formed on the
axle rear cover.
But, it lubricates to reduce friction between power units (different gears). Here,
plug/screw is used for draining out used oil.
A known prior art discloses a rear axle air breather to facilitate a lubricating
process between an inner gear and a bearing by maintaining a proper amount
of lubricating oil applied on a re& axle. A body unit is inserted into a rear axle
housing. A hole groove is formed at a center of the body unit, such that air is
a
drained out from the rear axle. A bar type first filter is inserted into the long
groove and prevents the oil from leaking from the rear axle. Plural holes are
formed on a .circular second filter, which is arranged on the first filter and
prevents the oil leakage. A circular fubber is arranged on the second filter and
serves as a switch. An elastic member is arranged on the rubber and adjusts
an air spray pressure inside the rear axle.
It comprises a plurality of holes with filter and elastic member to avoid leakage
of oil.
Another known art relates to a vehicle axle, in particular a twist-beam axle for
an electric vehicle, comprising at least one trailirig arm, on which is arranged a
drive unit which is located in the vicinity of a wheel and has an electric motor
arid a gear unit, wherein the wheel-vicinity drive unit has at least one supply
line, and at least one damper, wherein the wheel-vicinity drive unit is designed,
at least in part, as a trailing arm, and wherein the damper has at least one side
connected, at least by a single-shear connection, to the drive unit and can have
the at least other side connected to a body of the electric vehicle.
It is used for lubrication of gears and avoids leakage of oil from oil circuit of the
transmission unit.
4
Still another known art discloses a twist-beam axle for motor vehicles, which
includes two longitudinal contfol arms, and a transverse strut interconnecting
the longitudinal control arms and having over a major portion of its length a
doubled-walled cross section of V-shaped or U-shaped configuration, thereby
defining an inner profile and an outer profile. The inner and outer profiles
support one another at least over predetermined portiqns to define a contact
zone there between for receiving a friction-reducing additive.
OBJECTS OR THE INVENTION
Primary object of the present invention is to provide a novel rear axle twist
beam of vehicle to improve lubrication by using oil which overcomes
disadvantages associated with the prior art.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a novel rear axle twist
beam of vehicle to improve lubrication by using oil which is simple in
construction.
A
Further object of the present invention is to provide a novel rear axle twist
beam of vehicle to improve lubrication by using oil which is efficient and
reliable.
Still another object of the * present invention is to provide a method of
manufacturing a novel rear axle twist beam which is simple.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
According to this invention, there is provided a novel rear axle twist beam of
vehicle to improve lubrication by using oil cAomprising of a centre beam
connected to at least one trailing arm at the end, in which the centre beam is
provided with a hole at one end to lubricate its inner surface, wherein the hole
is provided with a closure.
Further according to this invention, there is provided method of manufacturing
of rear axle twist beam for vehicle comprising steps of:-
- creating a hole on the centre beam,
- welding of the beam to a trailing arm at least at one end,
6
- Injection of oil into the beam through said hole for lubrication,
- Closure of the hole followed by painting.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS:
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from
the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanying
drawings and wherein:
Fig. 1 shows: rear axle twist beam according to t6e present invention.
Fig. 2 shows: centre beam of the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO
The instant invention discloses novel rear axle twist beam for vehicle. Now,
reference may be made to fig. 1, wherein the centre beam (1) is connected to at
least one trailing arm. In an exemplary embodiment of present invention as
shown in fig. 1, the centre beam is connected to trailing arms (2 and 3)
preferably by welding at both left hand and right hand side. This constitutes a
1
closed chamber.
The beam is provided with a hole (H) for supply of oil therethrough to lubricate
its inner suiface. Said hole of appropriate size constituting inlet for oil is
punched on the rear axle beam during forming of the centre beam. However,
the hole can also be provided subsequent to the manufacturing of the centre
beam. Required quantity of oil is injected into the centre beam through the hole
on the beam.
- ,
. -6-
The oil injection is followed by closing of the hole by welding with plug.
I Alternatively, socket head type screw with lock can be used, wherein lock-tight
I is applied on the threaded partion of the screw so as to ensure leak-proof
performance.
:
The above is given as example. However, other suitable means for closure of
the hole can also be adopted, which are readily apparent to the person skilled
in the art. a
As discussed, the hole on the beam can be closed by using screw, which helps
. in replenishirig oil or replacing the whole amount of oil if required. In case the
I hole is required to be opened, it can be resealed easily using a new screw of
original size. This makes the part serviceable.
The hole is positioned preferably on left or right side surface of the centre
I beam. This is because; top surface of the beam is circular, where hole can't be
I '
provided. Again top surface is mounted with brackets etc causing interference.
Further, provision of the hole on the lower surface may results in leakage. Also,
a
lower surface of the beam is affected by striking of stones from the road. Hence,
I the hole is provided on leftlright side surface of the centre beam as the same
develops minimum stress without encountering any limitations as with the top
a
and bottom surface.
In prior art, grease is applied prior to painting. During the process of painting
the encountered temperature levels change the state of grease from semi solid
to liquid state because flash point of grease is less than temperature of
application of paint. This may deteriorate the lubrication.
1
In contract to the above, the present invention is advantageous because it is
not affected by the temperature levels of paiht. This helps to retain the
properties of oil as the same is not affected by the temperature during painting.
4
This is because flash point of oil is greater than temperature of application
paint.
& Thus, the invention functions efficiently as compared to the conventional beam.
It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications,
adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant
embodiments employing the concepts and features of this invention are
intended to be within the scope of the present invention, which is further set
forth under the following claims:-'
