Abstract: This invention relates to a novel seat in a passenger car comprising of a seat provided with guide thereunder, along which back rest with head rest moves, wherein profile of said back rest and head rest is same both in the front and back and profile of the seat is provided with a uniform curve. The invention is provided particularly in co-driver seat, which can turn towards rear. The seat can be accommodated in any size of four wheeler.
FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to a novel seat in a passenger car. The seat can be made
front and rear facing.
PRIOR ART
Conventionally, in a passenger vehicle the front co-driver seat is always front
facing. Only in case of rear seat, option of front facing, rear facing or side facing
is available. However, the same is fixedly provided.
In normal practice, there can be a requirement for facing of co-driver seat
towards rear side.
However, reference may be made to the following prior arts:
A passenger seat apparatus of vehicles is provided to change the back part and
a seating part of a seat shell according to two different seat positions to save
the space. A passenger seat apparatus of a vehicle includes a seat shell device,
a seat cushion device, and bearing devices. The seat shell.device includes first
and second half shell regions serving as a back part and a seating part. The
seat cushion device is inserted into the seat shell device. The bearing devices
turn the seat shell device inside the vehicle. Seat positions include the back
part and the seating part of the seat shell device according to the bearing
devices.
The seat moves through 90°, wherein the head rest is detachable. So that, after
movement through 90" for facing rear, the head rest can be attached. The
disadvantage is that, it is not comfortable.
To improve a facing property between a seated person of a rotating seat and a
seated person facing the seated person on the rotating seat when the rotating
seat is rotated. ; SOLUTION: A front seat arranged at the front row side of a
vehicle is turned to face a vehicle rear side by the rotating action of a rotating
device. A second seat can make a seat back fall forward on the upper surface of
a seat cushion. By a rotating structure capable of turning the front seat to the
vehicle rear side and a forward falling structure capable of making the seat
back of the second seat fall forward, a facing mode wherein the seated person
of the front seat and the seated person of the third seat can face each other at
a facing distance over the second seat is constituted.
The seat is made rear facing through a rotational movement, which requires
more space around. This leads to wastage of space.
To provide comfortable seating in a relax attitude forwardly extending a leg in a
seat in a turn position facing inside a cabin, by providing a parallel link
turnably supporting a frame on a base, and setting the instantaneous center of
turning to a seat rearward by this parallel link. SOLUTION: A turn mechanism
for a driver seat has a frame loading the seat, a base fixed to a cab floor and
two links supporting the frame onto the base. The links are turnably engaged
with the frame and the base respectively through a pin, and a parallel link
turning the frame on the base is formed. By adjusting arrangement and length
of the links an instantaneous center (p) of the parallel link is set to a rearward
of the seat on its center line (m). Accordingly, the driver seat, without
interfering with a side surface of a cabin, internal accessory part behind the
seat, or the like can turn the seat front inside the cabin.
Here, individual linkage is provided for turning the seat through an angle, both
in left side and right side. This requires more space for turning. Further, it is
applicable to only rear seat.
In a motor vehicle having a plurality of front and rear seats, at least one of the
front seats is turnable rearward to confront a rear seat and has a cushioning
portion at an upper portion thereof; a curtain which can be drawn between the
front seats is provided; and shock-absorbing materials are provided in the
dashboard of the motor vehicle in front of the seat which is turnable rearward
and on a side opposite to the rearside of the back rest of the rear seats. The
curtain between the front seats serves to prevent the attention of the driver in
one of the front seats from being distracted by the passenger in the adjoining
front seat. The shock-absorbing materials are useful to improve the safety of
the vehicle in the event of a collision.
The seat moves through a rotational movement, which requires more space.
Hence, the Present invention has been proposed to obviate the aforesaid
drawbacks.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The primary object of the present invention is to provide a novel seat in a
passenger car which overcomes disadvantages associated with the prior art(s).
Another object of the present invention is to provide a novel seat in a passenger
car which is simple in construction.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a novel seat in a
passenger car which is reliable and efficient.
Further another object of the present invention is to provide a novel seat in a
passenger car which is flexible that it can turn rear.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
This invention provides a novel seat in a passenger car comprising of a seat
provided with guide thereunder, along which back rest with head rest moves,
wherein profile of said back rest and head rest is similar both in the front and
back and profile of the seat is provided with a uniform curvc.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from
the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanying
drawings and wherein:
Fig. 1 shows: perspective view of novel seat in a passenger car according to the
present invention.
Fig. 2 shows: seat with front facing.
Fig. 2 shows: seat with rear facing.
DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE
ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS:-
The present invention discloses a novel seat in a passenger car. The novel seat
is particularly applicable to co-driver seat. In this invention, seat is designed in
such a way that, it supports seating arrangement in both directions i.e. front
and rear. Further, a guide is provided under the seat (X-axis) so as to flip the
direction of back support with head rest. Said flipping is carried out through
application of force.
Now, reference may be made to fig. 1, wherein a seat frame (1) is provided with
a guide (2) positioned on each side inner surface of the seat (xaxis)
with a stopper (3) at each end of both the guides (2) so as to stop the back
rest (4) at the end of seat. Further, a follower (5) is provided between the guides
as a connecting member. So that, backrest with head rest (4) mounted on the
follower can move forward and backward along said guide.
Again, reference may be made to fig. 2 and 3, in which the seat (S) is provided
with a uniform curve having concave profile. So that, it can be used to seat
comfortably in both the directions i.e. front and rear. Further, the back rest
with head rest is provided with same profile on both the sides. So that, it can
be used for resting back and head comfortably in both the directions.
The sliding is carried out by force till the centre pivot point (H) of the seat,
thereafter the back rest with head rest slides automatically.
The above provision can be made particularly in co-driver seat to bring the
back support to front side, thereby turning the co driver seat towards rear. The
seat of present invention can be accommodated in vehicle of any size.
Thus, the invention is quite flexible.
It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications,
adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments
employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within
the scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under the
following claims: -
WE CLAIM:

thereunder, along which back rest with head rest moves, wherein profile
of said back rest and head rest is similar both in the front and back and
profile of the seat is provided with a uniform curve.
-
2. A novel seat in a passenger car as claimed in claim 1, wherein said back
rest with head rest moves along the guide by sliding and is mounted on
follower connecting the guide provided on side inner surface of the seat
(x-axis).
3. A novel seat in a passenger car as claimed in claim 1 or 2, wherein the
sliding is carried out by force till. the pivot point of the seat, from where
the back rest with head rest slides automatically.
4. A novel seat in a passenger car as claimed in any of the preceding claims,
wherein the seat is provided particularly in co-driver seat to bring the
back support to front thereby turning the co-driver seat towards rear.
5. A novel seat in a passenger car substantially as herein described with
reference to the accompanying drawings.
